A portrait of marriage, caretaking, grief, and recovery. Carole Stone’s Limited Editions is an end-of-life narrative journey, from her long-term marriage to the illness and death of her husband. Stone’s honest, understated, and detailed poems, each packed with narrative, bring us to the heart of her loss. Stone does not flinch in her descriptions of her husband’s suffering and dying moments. She dispassionately describes the everyday details of coping with being on her own—from daily household chores to the loneliness of being single as an aging woman. With Stone’s crisp observations and raw honesty, Limited Editions challenges the reader to think about death, grief, widowhood, and aging as a natural process in the life cycle.

From Carole Simmons Oles comes a new modern poetry biography, this one based on the life of American sculptor Harriet Hosmer (1830-1908). After an exceptional apprenticeship in Rome, Hosmer opened a studio there where she was associated with Nathaniel Hawthorne, Henry James, and the Brownings. Though some of her work survives today, much of it has disappeared. Oles rediscovers Hosmer's life in ""Waking Stone"". This is a dialogue, an exploration of what Oles calls their ""parallel universes."" In beautiful and affecting lyric and narrative poems, some in Hosmer's voice, some in her own, Oles bends time and circumstances to reveal the essential kinship between two women artists. Oles keeps readers moving through Hosmer's story, with its flashes of delight, anger, mischief, and triumph, as well as through Oles' life and time, speaking imaginatively to young women about cutting themselves with razor blades, and to older women about suffering disfiguring treatments for breast cancer.

"A Fantasy based on reality set in an explorable area of West Wales " A series of 5 books, chronicling the epic adventures of the Tylwyth Teg, situated in a beautiful corner of West Wales, Great Britain beginning in the year 1303. The story is set within their ancient 'Triad Kingdom' in a scenic, mountain and coastline area by the Irish Sea. The tale itself is about the struggles between the forces of light represented by the Efengyl Knights, in their quest to find the Royal Stones of the lost Crown of Golau, and the Dark Lord Pruddydrwgn r. Only when the Crown is complete can the true king be known and the Royal Race of the Brenhindod be re-established to fight the evil forces of the Dark Lord in his underworld of Annwn Uffern on equal terms ... only then. ... This first book describes the plight of four young orphans possessing strange powers, brought up in different towers of Trefdraeth Castle. With their loyal companions they meet together under the guidance of Pelydryn, the ancient sorcerer, and Arianwyn, the grim master mariner and explorer from Erin across the sea, to begin the quest for their true identities ... and the Royal Stones of Sorcery ... "When inquisitive Nomis, a pubescent apprentice herb-lore physician, realises why his parents abandoned him at birth, amid the terrifying threat encroaching on the cosy world of Trefdraeth Castle, he decides it is time to begin a new life with a new master. Little does he suspect that it is his own strange, but growing, powers of sorcery and those of his new found friends, that are attracting the evil necromancers from the darkest regions of the underworld. His new master, a mysterious immortal sorcerer, becomes their protector and guide through many adventures, forcing them all to come to terms with their emerging powers and associated responsibilities that culminate to become the instruments of the ancient prophecies, which will dramatically shape their unsuspecting world." There is mystery, nobility, integrity, humour, darkness, and violence, as well as interesting beings, well-developed and deep characters with good dialogue. Coupled with themes of the paranormal and obscure laws of nature, it is a very fascinating, page-turning read. The adventure is made unique in that the area in which their dangerous quest takes place is totally real. The author has used present day marked footpaths and many of the local historical monuments and features of interest. The narrative explores the ecology of the differing environments the questors pass through, that range from high mountain moorland to river and woodland scenery; from river estuary marshlands, sand-dunes and sandy beach to sheer rocky cliffs and finally to the sea. All the action takes place within a walking radius of the author's former castle home overlooking this extraordinary stretch of Welsh coastline The books are further made exceptional by the amount of 'living magic, ' obscure 'laws of nature' and hitherto 'unexplained phenomena' that is woven into the tale. The author has made available many of the 'secrets' and 'revelations' she has come across in her extraordinary life, which she feels are valuable knowledge for today's discerning person, as we move forward in the Third Millennium.

As a boy growing up in eastern Oklahoma, Willard Stone spent much of his free time drawing. Admiring the work of Michelangelo and Leonardo Da Vinci, he dreamed of becoming a painter. When he was thirteen, a dynamite cap he was holding exploded and he lost segments of two fingers and the thumb of his right hand. Deeply affected, he withdrew, thinking he would never become the artist he hoped to be.But Stone's deep desire to create motivated him to rise above his disability. He began shaping little animal figures using the wet clay from the ditches near his home. Eventually he discovered that the medium of wood appealed to him more, and he adapted carving tools to fit his injured hand. He was transformed by his love of wood and his desire to shape it.This lavishly illustrated volume presents the life and work of woodcarver Willard Stone. Four authors, including staff of the Gilcrease Museum and one of Stone's grandsons, provide insight into the artist's biography, his carving techniques, his sources of inspiration, and his legacy as an Oklahoma artist. These essays and more than 200 full-color and black-and-white photographs of Stone's pieces follow the grain of a human life, visible in sublimely carved wood.Stone's sculptures exhibit his love of nature, representing fertility, birth, regeneration, and the seasons while reflecting his deep understanding of the balance of nature. His masterful use of the wood grain, an integral element in his carvings, demonstrates his thoughtfulness in the planning stages of the artistic process. Referring to himself as a "folklorist in wood," Stone carved his philosophy of life into his works, creating stories that glowed with universal truths and resonated with his own personality. In addition to his ability to create beautiful forms, it is his gift of storytelling that lends the carvings of Willard Stone their profound mark of distinction.

A Taste of Heaven on Earth explores the spiritual foundation of the nineteenth-century utopian Oneida Community founded by John Humphrey Noyes, whose members sought purity of heart in all thoughts, words, and activities. Following graduation from college with honors, Noyes studied at two theological seminaries, opening his heart to receive God. He discovered the Holy Spirit as our ever-present teacher, revealing the wisdom and experiences of Christ, and that the purpose of human life is preparing the heart to hear this Internal Teacher and implementing its teachings. Spend pleasant hours with many of the nearly three hundred members of Noyes's communities, people of all personalities and proclivities--how they loved and learned, worked and played, prayed and made music, and lived together with openness and harmony. All were married to all in this unique community, showing that a happy marriage may exist between two hundred and fifty as well as two. They practiced enlightened sexuality, learned emotional intelligence and spiritual self-examination, thrived with variety in work, enjoyed lifelong learning, and nurtured all children as their own. Most of all, they practiced openness to God, the only source of lasting joy and contentment.
