Sense of Soul
2021
pokkari
What is it about ourselves that gives us a unique fundamental advantage over the most techologically advanced android, now and forever?"A+," is a small futuristic book addressing this timely issue, along with exploring the mystery of life beyond death. A family's adults pass on relevant information to their two preteens, each raising pressing questions. The family android, Andrew, ponders the family's challenges as they deal with these major concerns. The "plus" in this book refers to the eternal energy of humans in contrast to artificial intelligence in robots. It explains the magical quality of the Soul to exist beyond time and in all dimensions. Grandma Carter's awareness of this, her true identity, helps to dissipate fear and create peace of mind for both family members and readers. If you like Eckert Tolle, you will enjoy this book for your children. Kindred books are The Little Soul and the Sun by Neale Donald Walsch and What is God by Etan Boritzer."A+" is a great gift for people of all ages; an adult reviewer said, "This story spoke to me, right where I am now.".

Back in the 1940s, when Florida was the Wild West of the East, a few hearty souls dared to think they might compete with the finest, blue-blooded racehorses and their breeders with their own stock raised among palm trees, sand and alligators. Florida was the cracker cowboy state, and cowponies were expected. But the scoffers failed to realize what the wealth of limestone, the power of warm sunshine year round and the cold, crystalline freshwater springs that are the gems of central Florida would mean to the raising of healthy, competitive animals. When the first Thoroughbreds produced in Florida, admittedly small and scrappy, began to outrun their pedigrees," the nation of Thoroughbred breeders had to take notice. Join author Charlene R. Johnson as she details the fascinating equine history of central Florida."

"Comprehensive, thoughtful, and well-organized . . . an excellent guide to searching, evaluating, organizing, and reporting the results of information syntheses."--CANADIAN JOURNAL OF PUBLIC HEALTHAs healthcare policy and practice turn toward the use of evidence-based medicine, there is a heightened need for resources that cover the process of research synthesis for the purpose of healthcare outcome improvement. Healthcare Informatics and Information Synthesis integrates the conceptual and procedural dimensions of research synthesis in each of the five stages of the process to produce step-by-step instructions for clinically applicable research syntheses. Explicit instructions are given for tasks ranging from computing a kappa to aggregating effect sizes. The authors provide seven detailed meta-analytic examples that cover a variety of data types, ranging from mean differences to odds ratios, allowing the reader to replicate the results exactly. The book includes a compendium of Internet sources and addresses as well as several ready-to-use forms to assist the reader in the administrative process of conducting a review. Personnel in all healthcare domains, including practitioners, researchers, quality improvement professionals, educators, administrators, students, and consumer information writers will find this an invaluable resource.

Birthed out of probably one of the most painful and difficult seasons of her life, Pursue Righteousness And Yield chronicles Charlene's journey and process when she finally said "Yes" to the Lord to step out into her purpose. While people often see the finished product, the accolades, and the achievements, many have no idea what happens in between... the good, the bad, and the ugly; the stripping, the struggles, and the strife. Charlene's hope is that by sharing a part of her story, you will be encouraged to take bold steps forward as you learn how to P.R.A.Y. and partner with God to become more, do more, and live the more abundant life.

Teaching and Learning High School Mathematics

Too many high school students, faced with mathematics in courses at the level of algebra and beyond, find themselves struggling with abstract concepts and unwilling to pursue further study of mathematics. When students curtail their course taking in mathematics, they may be impacting their college and career options. Thus, high school mathematics teachers have the responsibility to help students recognize the value and importance of mathematics while also designing instruction that makes mathematics accessible to all students. Ball and Bass (2000), as well as other mathematics educators, have recognized that mathematics teachers not only need to know mathematics content and mathematics pedagogy (i.e., teaching strategies) but they also need to know how these ideas are integrated. This mathematical knowledge for teaching is the knowledge that teachers of mathematics need and it differs from the knowledge that research or applied mathematicians must know. This text is designed to provide teachers with insights into this mathematical knowledge for teaching. Teaching and Learning High School Mathematics is likely different from many other texts that you have used. It integrates both content and pedagogy to help you develop and build your own understanding of teaching. The text is designed to help you develop “deep conceptual understanding of fundamental mathematics” (Ma 1999) so that you are able to approach mathematics from multiple perspectives with many tools. Such flexibility in teaching is essential if teachers are to help all students become mathematically proficient. Throughout this book, you are encouraged to work in cooperative teams. This strategy is designed to help you develop a mathematics learning community and build a professional network that will be a valuable resource during your professional career. Hopefully, you will experience the benefits of engaging in rich mathematical discussions with peers and consider how to encourage such learning environments in your own classrooms. Lesson planning is another element pervasive throughout this text. To help teachers plan for effective student-centered lessons, the Question Response Support (QRS) Guide is introduced in Lesson 1.1 and used throughout the remainder of the lessons. The QRS Guide is a tool on which teachers may record tasks or questions (Q) for students, expected and observed student responses (R), and teacher support (S) in the form of additional “just enough” questions to support students in their progress on the task. In each unit, teachers expand their repertoire of teaching and learning elements and strategies and incorporate these elements as they plan additional lesson segments. In Unit 4 lesson planning is formally introduced as teachers put together elements from previous units into complete, cohesive lesson plans.

Ollam (“ollav”), named for the ancient title of Ireland’s chief poets, celebrates the career of Tomás Ó Cathasaigh, Henry L. Shattuck Professor of Irish Studies at Harvard University, who is one of the foremost interpreters of the rich and fascinating world of early Irish saga literature. It is a complement to his own book of essays, Coire Sois, the Cauldron of Knowledge: A Companion to Early Irish Saga, also edited by Matthieu Boyd (University of Notre Dame Press, 2014), and a sequel to his classic monograph The Heroic Biography of Cormac mac Airt (Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies, 1977) and as such it begins to show the richness of his legacy. The essays in Ollam represent cutting-edge research in Celtic philology and historical and literary studies. They form three clusters: heroic legend; law and language; and poetry and poetics. The 21 contributors are among the best Celtic Studies scholars of their respective generations, whether they are rising stars or great professors at the finest universities around the world. The book has a Foreword by William Gillies, Emeritus Professor at the University of Edinburgh and former President of the International Congress of Celtic Studies, who also contributed an essay on courtly love-poetry in the Book of the Dean of Lismore. Other highlight include a new edition and translation of the famous poem Messe ocus Pangur bán; a suite of articarticles on the ideal king of Irish tradition, Cormac mac Airt; and studies on well-known heroes like Cú Chulainn and Finn mac Cumaill. This book will be a must-have, and a treat, for Celtic specialists. To nonspecialists it offers a glimpse at the vast creative energy of Gaelic literature through the ages and of Celtic Studies in the twenty-first century.

Families, the State and Educational Inequality in the Singapore City-State
Focusing on Singapore’s education system from an equity perspective, Chiong’s book describes the often unheard perspectives of socio-economically disadvantaged families in Singapore. The performance of Singaporean students on international education benchmarking tests has been widely recognised. Relatively less known is how socio-economically disadvantaged families negotiate Singapore’s highly competitive, stratifying and meritocratic system. Yet, families’ perspectives can provide crucial insight in understanding how policy is ‘lived’ and experienced, and its effects on people’s lives.Drawing on 72 interviews with 12 families, this book traces the development of surprisingly close, collaborative relations between the state, schools and families on Singapore’s socio-economic margins. It demonstrates that in the 'strong' state of Singapore, families’ dependency on schools and the state facilitates the internalisation of individual and familial responsibility for future success. However, these very processes can injure, and perpetuate inequality. The analysis presented in this book has relevance in other contexts, in times where advanced capitalist states face growing inequalities and challenging relationships between institutional authority and the wider populace. As socio-economic and educational inequalities widen, this book asks timely questions and provides recommendations on what a more equitable state-citizen compact might look like. The book will appeal to researchers and students who are interested in the fields of the sociology and politics of education, social policy, and Asian culture and society.

This devotion was written to help with different areas of challenges we sometimes face in the workplace. We spend more time at work than with family and I do believe that if our minds are not guarded at all times, the "adversary, who roars about like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour" can truly have a field day with us. When we have the constant awareness of the fact that while at work we must govern ourselves according to the Word, it keeps things in perspective. There are so many people working today that are very unhappy on the job. Whether it is you, your boss, the work load, the co-workers, or any other challenges, let us strive to have peace in the midst of any storm that arises and learn how to better handle the different challenges that come our way. Just think with me for a second all the different personalities together Monday through Friday, sometimes, not on one accord. As I grow in grace and the knowledge of God I have come to realize that ALL things (the good, the bad and the ugly) work together for good to those that love God and are the called, according to His purpose. You are on your job for a reason and a season and your due season will come, just hold on a little longer. God told us in Ecclesiastes 3:1 that "there is a time for everything under the sun."

Indian artists from all over the nation have deep ties to New Mexico. A great many live and work in the state. Countless others have attended and/or taught at the renowned Institute of American Indian Arts (AIA) in Santa Fe, NM. All have exhibited their work at Pueblo and Indian art exhibitions, in major galleries, or at the annual Indian market hosted by the Southwestern Association of Indian Arts (SWAIA) in Santa Fe.Almost without exception, Native artists draw upon their heritage for inspiration, and usually for form and content as well. Some create their art using traditional mediums and designs; others explore modern, sometimes unorthodox Subjects, styles, and mediums. The visions expressed in their art mirror the diverse experiences of indigenous peoples living in America today.Ndn presents examples drawn from the panorama of Native American art. Charleen Touchette's lively essay brings a contemporary perspective to Indian art. She also selected the artists to be included in Ndn, some of whom are Allan Houser, R. C. Gorman, Arlo Namingha, Margarete Bagshaw-Tindel, Kevin Red Star, Anita Fields, and Joel McHorse. Each artist is presented individually in profiles by Suzanne Deats.
