Driving Over Lemons: An Optimist in Spain
A funny, generous, wonderfully written account of a family making a life and home in remote but enchanting southern Spain--from the first drummer of the rock band Genesis. No sooner had Chris Stewart set eyes on El Valero than he handed over a check. Now all he had to do was explain to Ana, his wife, that they were the proud owners of an isolated sheep farm in the Alpujarra Mountains in Southern Spain. That was the easy part. Lush with olive, lemon, and almond groves, the farm lacks a few essentials--running water, electricity, an access road. And then there's the problem of rapacious Pedro Romero, the previous owner who refuses to leave. A perpetual optimist, whose skill as a sheepshearer provides an ideal entr e into his new community, Stewart also possesses an unflappable spirit that, we soon learn, nothing can diminish. Wholly enchanted by the rugged terrain of the hillside and the people they meet along the way--among them farmers, including the ever-resourceful Domingo, other expatriates and artists--Chris and Ana Stewart build an enviable life, complete with a child and dogs, in a country far from home.

Chris Stewart's Driving Over Lemons told the story of his move to a remote mountain farm in Las Alpujarras - an oddball region of Spain, south of Granada. Funny, insightful and real, the book became an international bestseller. A Parrot in the Pepper Tree, the sequel to Lemons, follows the lives of Chris, Ana and their daughter, Chloë, as they get to grips with a misanthropic parrot who joins their home, Spanish school life, neighbours in love, their amazement at Chris appearing on the bestseller lists . . and their shock at discovering that their beloved valley is once more under threat of a dam. A Parrot in the Pepper Tree also looks back on Chris Stewart's former life - the hard times shearing in midwinter Sweden (and driving across the frozen sea to reach island farms); his first taste of Spain, learning flamenco guitar as a 20-year old; and his illustrious music career, drumming for his school band Genesis (sacked at 17, he never quite became Phil Collins), and then for a circus.

The Good Life goes on at El Valero. Find yourself laughing out loud as Chris is instructed by his daughter on local teenage mores; bluffs his way in art history to millionaire Bostonians; is rescued off a snowy peak by the Guardia Civil; and joins an Almond Blossom Appreciation Society. You'll cringe with Chris as he tries his hand at office work in an immigrants' advice centre in Granada, spurred into action by the arrival of four destitute young Moroccans at El Valero. And you'll never see olive oil in quite the same way again... In this sequel to 'Lemons' and 'Parrot', Chris Stewart's optimism and zest for life is as infectious as ever.

Wrath & Righteousness: Episodes One & Two
"It really grips you . . . I lost a lot of sleep reading it." -Tim LaHaye, co-author of the LEFT BEHIND series THE WORLD IS ON THE BRINK "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world..." -Ephesians 6:12 The forces of Darkness, actively seeking to destroy all that is good, have focused their efforts on Saudi Prince Abdullah al-Rahman, second in line to the Royal House of Saud. By tempting the Prince with the Saudi throne, and power beyond his wildest imagination, Lucifer and his servants hope to unleash Armageddon and bring down the United States and its allies. As Prince al-Raman moves closer to putting the attack into motion it becomes clear that only a few people have the knowledge and ability to stop him. Will they find the strength to stand up to him and his Master, or will they fail and leave the U.S. and Israel to face the eternal consequences? Against the backdrop of torn-from-the-headlines Middle Eastern drama, the Wrath & Righteousness series is a fast-paced thriller that explores man's role in the eternal battle between Light and Darkness. Wrath & Righteousness is a ten episode (five volume) series that was adapted from the previously published The Great and Terrible that was released from 2003-2008. NOTE: In paperback format each volume is comprised of two episodes, meaning that the ten episodes will be published over the course of five paperback volumes.

It's two decades since Chris Stewart moved to his farm on the wrong side of a river in the mountains of southern Spain and his daughter Chlöe is preparing to fly the nest for university. In this latest, typically hilarious dispatch from El Valero we find Chris, now a local literary celebrity, using his fame to help his old sheep-shearing partner find work on a raucous road trip; cooking a TV lunch for visiting British chef, Rick Stein; discovering the pitfalls of Spanish public speaking; and recalling his own first foray into the adult world of work. Yet it's at El Valero, his beloved sheep farm, that Chris remains in his element as he, his wife Ana and their assorted dogs, cats and sheep weather a near calamitous flood and emerge as newly certified organic farmers. His cash crop? The lemons and oranges he once so blithely drove over, of course.

Meet Chris Stewart, the eternal optimist. A man who flies to Spain, sees a peasant farm on the wrong side of the river and, with scarcely a second thought, hands over a cash deposit. And then finds he has acquired not just the farm, but the farmer, too, who has no intention of leaving. Not to mention the lack of running water, electricity or even a bridge. It would be enough to send most people straight back home. But Chris and his wife Ana are made of stronger stuff - and besides, they have sunk all their savings into their farm, El Valero, and buying a flock of sheep. So there is no turning back. Life gets tough, but it also gets good. Driving Over Lemons is that rare thing - a funny, insightful book that charms you from the first sun-lit page to the last. And one that makes running an Andalucian mountain farm seem like a half-decent career move. It has been a major bestseller both in Britain and Spain.
The Circular Archetype in Microcosm: The Carved Stone Balls of Late Neolithic Scotland
The Circular Archetype in Microcosm is the culmination of seven years research into the Carved Stone Balls of Late Neolithic Scotland. It is the first study of these enigmatic artefacts since that undertaken by Dorothy Marshall in 1977 and includes all currently known examples in both museums and private hands, described and analysed in considerable detail. For the first time, visual geological characterisation has been undertaken on approximately a third of carved stone balls, which has enabled a more detailed analysis of their potential origin and the landscapes in which they were found. The book offers a revised classification/typology of these artefacts which, following careful analysis, suggests that it is possible to determine individual craftspeople with a wide range of skills. It suggests that carved stone balls were used as unique and distinctive gestalts that represented the ideology of the core area of Aberdeenshire and enabled disparate groups to recognise one another.
Seven Miracles That Saved America: Why They Matter and Why We Should Have Hope
"When the odds were stacked against us, and there have been many times when the great experiment we call America could have and should have failed, did God intervene to save us?"That question, posed by authors Chris and Ted Stewart, is the foundation for this remarkable book. And the examples they cite provide compelling evidence that the hand of Providence has indeed preserved the United States of America on multiple occasions. Skillfully weaving story vignettes with historical explanations, they examine seven instances that illustrate God's protecting care. Never, at any of these critical junctures, was a positive outcome certain or even likely. Yet America prevailed. Why?"No man is perfect," write the authors. "And neither is any nation. Yet, despite our weakness, we are still, as Abraham Lincoln said, the best nation ever given to man. Despite our faults, this nation is still the last, best hope of earth." In short, God still cares what happens here. This reassuring message is a bright light in a world that longs for such hope.

Glass Onion figures high on the short list of answers. Since opening in 2008, Glass Onion has consistently served up southern regional classics to a devoted following. Chefs, locals, and tourists alike come for the constantly rotating menu of daily offerings such as jambalaya, boudin, gumbo, juicy fried catfish, fried green tomatoes, shrimp & grits, pillowy buttermilk biscuits, liver mousse, red rice .... the list goes on and on and on. Chef Chris Stewart, an Alabama native turned Lowcountry transplant, helms the kitchen and maintains strict standards for sourcing all-natural, local ingredients. His wife Suzanne Stewart cranks out delectable desserts such as bread pudding with whiskey sauce, buttermilk custard with lemon curd, boozy pecan pie, and vanilla-spiked rice pudding using heirloom Carolina Gold rice. Together the husband-and-wife team have created a relaxed, warm, unpretentious, delicious destination that locals swear by, featured by Guy Fieri on his Food Network show Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. This cookbook celebrates Glass Onion's tenth anniversary and features 75 recipes in full color, interspersed with photos of the area farms from whom they source. So if you're looking for that perfect biscuit drizzled with sinfully good sausage gravy, or a super fresh and unusual salad to bring to a summertime gathering, or how to wow your guests with crispy fried quail over slow-simmered Sea Island red peas, or how to make chicken and rice that your kids will fight over, this book is full of approachable ideas for your next meal.
