The village of Clayton in West Yorkshire was mentioned in Domesday Book and has a long and proud history. This fascinating selection of over 200 archive images portrays some of the changes which have taken place in and around Clayton over the last 150 years, including the arrival of the textile industry and the village's eventual incorporation into Bradford in 1930. Worsted mills, quarries and the local brewery are all featured as the reader is taken on a journey through Clayton's industrial past. Shops, schools, churches and transport are all described in pictures and informative captions, as are sports teams, buildings and of course the local people, the heart of this strong community.
