Corina is a made up story about a young girl that is raped by her father everyday, after losing her mother to cancer at only six years old, it is a very hard write for me, because a lot of the twists and turns stated in the book, have a direct contrast to my own life, as i too was molested at 5 years old, but not by my father.I have had to stand in many fights throughout my life, because the words came to others saying that I was something that I didn't want to be, that is putting others in jails and prison, it is a mindset, not an actual cell. Corina was inspired through another book I did called; "Insensitive Jerk 2", the beginning of the story called Corina was in this book, maybe around chapter 8 or 9, now it has it's own book. my main goal in life is to find ways to break the chains off of people while they still are able to get free, and even though, this one was hard for me to write, here it is.There are many people around the world today that live in the bondage of their own minds, and they like me, allow others to keep them locked up in these cages like wild animals, life was not meant to be this way, we were created to live a life filled with the abundance of joy, hope, passion, and creativity, but in a world of chaos, that kind of life gets harder as each day grows near.

Corina Gertz photographs women from around the world wearing traditional national dress. Her focus is on the quieter side of the portrait - the figure seen from behind. The individual remains hidden, so that information is conveyed only by the clothing. Splendid fabrics with sumptuous embroidery shine with sculptural and painterly intensity against a deep black background, captured in a clear, expressive composition. Her portraits tell tales of traditional wisdom, conventions, customs, and practices, reflecting Gertz’s interest in the aesthetic, political, social, and cultural context. Text in English and German.

The publication Beneath the Skin provides an overview of the last ten years of work by the Swiss artist Corina Staubli (b. 1959). It shows the altercation in the tension between exterior and interior worlds and the ambivalence of beauty, the beguiling, the sinister and even the unfathomable. With diverse media - be it porcelain, latex, painting or digital collage - the artist directs a dialogue of opposing sides. The question she always poses is 'how does the clandestine and the unconscious reveal itself in something that is manifest' - and, vice versa, 'how does the external view reveal the internal view'? The book itself is sure to arouse intrigue, as it features a nylon sculpture on the cover! Text in English and German.

NATIONAL BOOK AWARD FINALIST - Latinas of Indigenous descent living in the American West take center stage in this haunting debut story collection--a powerful meditation on friendship, mothers and daughters, and the deep-rooted truths of our homelands. "Here are stories that blaze like wildfires, with characters who made me laugh and broke my heart."--Sandra Cisneros FINALST FOR THE STORY PRIZE - LONGLISTED FOR THE PEN/ROBERT W. BINGHAM PRIZE FOR DEBUT SHORT STORY COLLECTION Kali Fajardo-Anstine's magnetic story collection breathes life into her Latina characters of indigenous ancestry and the land they inhabit in the American West. Against the remarkable backdrop of Denver, Colorado--a place that is as fierce as it is exquisite--these women navigate the land the way they navigate their lives: with caution, grace, and quiet force. In "Sugar Babies," ancestry and heritage are hidden inside the earth but tend to rise during land disputes. "Any Further West" follows a sex worker and her daughter as they leave their ancestral home in southern Colorado only to find a foreign and hostile land in California. In "Tomi," a woman leaves prison and finds herself in a gentrified city that is a shadow of the one she remembers from her childhood. And in the title story, "Sabrina & Corina," a Denver family falls into a cycle of violence against women, coming together only through ritual. Sabrina & Corina is a moving narrative of unrelenting feminine power and an exploration of the universal experiences of abandonment, heritage, and an eternal sense of home. NAMED ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS OF THE YEAR BY The New York Public Library - Kirkus Reviews - Library Journal "Sabrina & Corina isn't just good, it's masterful storytelling. Fajardo-Anstine is a fearless writer: her women are strong and scarred witnesses of the violations of their homelands, their culture, their bodies; her plots turn and surprise, unerring and organic in their comprehensiveness; her characters break your heart, but you keep on going because you know you are in the hands of a master. Her stories move through the heart of darkness and illuminate it with the soul of truth."--Julia Alvarez, author of How the Garc a Girls Lost Their Accents " A] powerhouse debut . . . stylistically superb, with crisp dialogue and unforgettable characters, Sabrina & Corina introduces an impressive new talent to American letters."--Rigoberto Gonz lez, NBC News
