1000 tulosta hakusanalla Dale P. Andrews
The rift between black theology, with its social and political concerns, and black churches, with their emphases on pastoral care and piety, has been growing. Here, Dale Andrews offers a way to bridge this gap by redefining the paradigm of church as "refuge" in terms of a faith identity that brings together a concern for liberation with a pastoral focus on spirituality. This faith identity emerges from dominant biblical themes that shape preaching and pastoral care.Andrews' insightful analysis of the gulf between black churches and black theology reveals the invasive influence of individualism in black religious life as well as the shared values for social change and care of the soul. Notably, it is this influence of individualism that has disrupted communal solidarity and brought about the neglect of liberation ethics within black church life. This practical theology will contribute greatly towards renewing the pastoral and prophetic ministry of black religious life.
Discovering Pluto is an authoritative account of the exploration of Pluto and its moons, from the first inklings of tentative knowledge through the exciting discoveries made during the flyby of the NASA research spacecraft New Horizons in July 2015. Co-author Dale P. Cruikshank was co-investigator on the New Horizons mission, while co-author William Sheehan is a noted historian of the solar system.Telling the tale of Pluto's discovery, the authors recount the grand story of our unfolding knowledge of the outer solar system, from William Herschel's serendipitous discovery of Uranus in 1781, to the mathematical prediction in 1846 of Neptune's existence, to Percival Lowell's studies of the wayward motions of those giant planets leading to his prediction of another world farther out. Lowell's efforts led to Clyde Tombaugh's heroic search and discovery of Pluto-then a mere speck in the telescope-at Lowell Observatory in 1930.Pluto was finally recognized as the premier body in the Kuiper Belt, the so-called third zone of our solar system. The first zone contains the terrestrial planets (Mercury through Mars) and the asteroid belt; the second, the gas-giant planets Jupiter through Neptune. The third zone, holding Pluto and the rest of the Kuiper Belt, is the largest and most populous region of the solar system. Now well beyond Pluto, New Horizons will continue to wend its lonely way through the galaxy, but it is still transmitting data, even today. Its ultimate legacy may be to inspire future generations to uncover more secrets of Pluto, the solar system, and the universe.

Evangelism: The Time Is Now New Testament is created from 40 years of study, research and weekly on the field Evangelism experience by its author. It is designed to be used on the field in Evangelism to give honest answers to honest questions about the validity of The Christian Faith. Its specialty as a Bible is that it translates the names of God and the constitution of man correctly so that the true meaning of the text is clear. This is vital in being able to lead people, especially Christian cult members, into a True knowledge of Jesus Christ's True Nature (Being Fully God & Fully Man but One Person), how that relates to His saving us as a Man and then into true saving faith in Jesus Christ. All of this is explained in the Introduction titled "Why Another Translation?". This New Testament also has INTELLIGENT Cross Referencing in the areas of Evangelism, Salvation, Discipleship, Apologetics, Spiritual Warfare and other areas of importance in successfully bringing men and women to saving faith in Jesus Christ. Also included are Commentary notes on Creation, Manners & Customs, Archaeology & Historical Discoveries, Hebrew Codes, Prophecy and Scientific Facts which backup and support the Literal Historical Reliability of the Old and New Testament as it stands. This New Testament also includes Evangelism Training Material in how to successfully Lead a Person into saving faith in Jesus Christ. See the Copy of the Contents below.

This full size, 8-1/2 X 11, 500 page Textbook brings together and interrelates Conservative, Evangelical and Charismatic teachings on Evangelism and teaches a Christian how to effectively and successfully share and reach his and her community with the saving message of Jesus Christ. The Textbook focuses on and trains a Christian in four primary areas: Evangelism, Discipleship, Apologetics and Spiritual Warfare. I (Dale P. Kruse) took advantage of all my learning, training and field experience, since 1969, and combined them into two Textbooks: this one titled Evangelism: The Time is Now (Basic Training) and Relationship With Jesus The Key To Effective Ministry (Advanced Training). One of the unique qualities of these two textbooks is that they draw upon all Biblical streams of Christianity and interrelate the Conservative, Evangelical, Charismatic concepts of Evangelism without compromise. I mean EVANGELICAL in the sense that Jesus' will for the Church is to seek and to save the lost, and to seek and to save the lost by drawing men to Himself. I mean CHARISMATIC in the sense that in order for our Evangelism to be effective and ministered in love that it must be Jesus centered and be motivated out of love relationship with Jesus. I mean CONSERVATIVE in that our Evangelism, Evangelistically Charismatically oriented, must be motivated within the guidelines of Scripture and be brought into submission to the Bible in its total context to be certain that our Evangelism and ministering is truly Jesus centered and truly motivated out of love relationship with Jesus. These two Textbooks combine these three streams of Biblical Christianity and their teaching on Evangelism into one program. It is a more holistic approach to Evangelism, but you do not have to be a college graduate to go through it and understand it's content. When I wrote them I strove to keep them simple enough for anyone to understand but complete enough that any Bible scholar could appreciate it and their comments after critiquing the material confirms it. When I finished the 1983 version of this textbook three different College Professors with doctorate degrees, all Evangelists, all published authors in Evangelism of three different Christian faiths critiqued the material. One said to me, "I have never read anything equal to this anywhere. Your depth and completeness are astounding." The program was recommended to both graduate and undergraduate ministry majors. A very nice letter was sent to me by Dr. John D. Morris of Institute for Creation Research, the son of Dr. Henry Morris making the following comments on this Evangelism material: "Let me congratulate you on a job well done. The materials are excellent tools for teaching others about the truth of God's Word. I am especially pleased that you included creation evangelism in your work." - Dr. John D. Morris, President of ICR Dale P. Kruse

Hospital ships. Where did the concept of medical facilities afloat come from? Well, the idea is not exactly new. As early as 400 B.C. the city-state of Athens used them with their sizeable sea-going armada as Greece expanded its territory throughout the Mediterranean. Caesar's conquering armies used them as the Roman Empire extended its colonies and acquisitions in all directions. They were found among the fleets of the Crusaders and the Italian republics in the Middle Ages. Both the British and French navies had hospital ships during the naval wars of the eighteenth century. Of course, the methods, equipment, and facilities in use then were quite primitive, but the idea of shipboard medicine was born and would grow and improve in the future. Centuries later in our own country a small 60-foot sailboat, the Intrepid was converted into a hospital ship in 1804 to serve in that capacity for the small American Navy. During the Civil War when the Union forces captured a Confederate passenger steamer it was converted into a well equipped hospital ship and served commendably throughout the war. It also had the distinction of being the first hospital ship to carry female nurses as part of the ship's crew. The Navy operated four hospital ships during the First World War and into the 1920's, during which time they began using the new designator AH (auxiliary, hospital) to indicate their function. The Relief was AH-1 followed by Solace, Mercy and Comfort. In the 1930's due to the Depression and budget cuts, Solace, Mercy and Comfort were decommissioned. However, a new Solace was added to replace the old one. Thus when World War II broke out the Relief (AH-1) and Solace (AH-5) were the only hospital ships on active duty in the United States Navy. The Solace was at Pearl Harbor when the Japanese attacked on December 7, 1941, and did a commendable job in helping to care for the casualties of the sneak attack, good enough to be awarded the Navy Commendation Award by the Secretary of the Navy. When America entered World War II, providing medical attention that its fighting forces would require was high on the priority list. Shipyards began turning out hospital ships and eventually 13 of them (Benevolence, Bountiful, Comfort, Consolation, Haven, Hope, Mercy, Relief, Rescue, Samaritan, Sanctuary, Solace, and Tranquility) would end up serving in the combat zones of the Pacific. This book is respectfully dedicated to the Navy crew members, the Army 205th Hospital Ship Complement, and the American Red Cross hospital staff aides of the USS Comfort (AH-6), who bravely sailed into harms way to bring medical treatment to the casualties resulting from our war against Japan.

What is a window? Is it mere relief in a solid thing? A gift for voyeurs? A patient, ever-present option for the weary agoraphobe? Tangible or philosophical, a way out, or in... a beckoning paradise for the jailed and the sick, a reminder that the walls we erect around us are a choice. The edges of our worlds, finite or infinite, depending on where you look.Or is it a means of escape? A new venture? Or contrastingly, a way to shut the world out?In the context of a collection of poetry crafted by a sometimes enlightened, sometimes tortured and always achingly human soul, I believe it's the opposite: a glimpse into the heart and mind of another, where, while we're tossed on the whims of the author, we happen upon reflections of ourselves.
