The Bane of My Life - A Dad's Diary
Matthew was born three months early, and spent the first six months of his life at St Michael's Hospital in Bristol, England, which specialises in caring for premature and critically-ill newborns. This record of the emotional rollercoaster his parents experienced may give other parents of premature babies an idea of what to expect, and to inspire them to find the strength to believe that where there's life, there's hope, because sometimes, miracles do happen.

How does a snowplough driver get to work on the morning of a blizzard? How does the non-sick coating stick to the bottom of frying pans? In 1982, the author heard an imponderable question for the first time, and made it his mission to compile, collect and create as many as he could ever since. This comprehensive collection of nearly 1,500 such 'imponderables' is the result. Great for insomniacs, as it gives you some bite-size no-brainers to ponder over on those long, sleepless nights. And for those who have no trouble finding the land of nod, there's sure to be something in here which will cause you sleepless nights too, so you can keep all the insomniacs company. Hopefully there will be something here to make you grin - or grimace - at least once and, if so, then the author, for one, will sleep soundly in the knowledge of a mission accomplished.

Des Measures has broad shoulders but even they are beginning to buckle under the burden he is being forced to bear, through caring for his elderly uncle. Des feels duty-bound and morally obliged, but the trials and tribulations related to his relation are testing him to the very end of his tether, and then some. The old adage says that blood is thicker than water, which makes Des's situation even more dire, since he is related to the old man through marriage, not blood. So when someone suggests that if his uncle was a poorly pet, he would be put to sleep, Des is faced with a crisis of conscience, and his family loyalties are tested to the limits in this black comedy - riddled with puntastic one liners - of the ages. Or of the aged!

'A wicked tongue is worse than any fiend' (Geoffrey Chaucer, The Canterbury Tales: The Manciple's Tale, 1395) Tongues are wagging in a sleepy English seaside town after a well-respected couple die within weeks of each other. Businessman Sam Shepton killed himself. At his inquest, his heartbroken son blamed his mother, Amanda, branding her a 'black widow'. A few days later, he discovers her body. The talking begins, accusations are made, secret lives are revealed. Was Amanda killed because of her husband's death? Was her murder a 'personal' crime or the start of a serial killer spree? Everyone's words have consequences and it's clear that careless talk really CAN cost lives Author Vicki Fitzgerald (Briguella, Kill List) described this book as "Wickedly warped, sensational. A chilling, compulsive, character-driven thriller with a killer twist".

"Life is like a rollercoaster ride, full of ups and downs..." So says Tom Grey, a man who has been on a down for as long as her cares, or dares, to remember. But as his 50th birthday approaches, he feels a burning need to experience an up again, to feel like he is living, not existing; to make a memory. He needs an adventure, but if he is to achieve all that he wants to, this can't be any old adventure. It has to be the proverbial 'big one', or perhaps, even, the actual Big One. The feel-good factor rides high in this gentle, young-at-heart, British comedy about the misadventures of four friends who are old enough to know better, but who refuse to grow up; unless they can do it without growing old, as they embark on a day trip from Weston-super-Mare to Blackpool in the hope of finding their lost youth at the top of one of Europe's tallest white-knuckle rollercoaster rides.

Christmas Cut-throats Cribbage Christmas is coming, but the season of goodwill has bypassed pub landlord Ted Edwards. A critical review in a best-selling travel book adds insult to infamy and threatens to be the final nail in the coffin for Ted's troubled alehouse, where the regular cribbage league context is the social highlight of every week. A prophetic premonition leaves Ted with a stark choice: call 'last orders' for the very final time or mind his miserly ways, embrace his hostelry's history, make peace with his family's pirate past, re-capture his Christmas spirit and save his beloved bar, prompting a pub 'treasure hunt' like no other... Yo Ho Ho Ho is final part of The Jolly Roger trilogy, three stand-alone stories concerning a fictional pub and its clientele. The first book in the trilogy is The Big One and the second is Uncle Prawn.

Darren Bane adds insult to infamy with this, his little poem book, a comical compilation of ridiculous rhymes, punny poetic (perhaps pathetic?) prose, laughably ludicrous lyrics and pitiful parodies. This asinine anthology includes a tender, touching, tribute to actress Catherine Zeta Jones, verses which feature fairly credible rhymes for the words 'vasectomy' and 'follicles', others which push the boundaries of 'poetic licence' and, of course, the local literary legend - if only in the mind of the author- that is Shiny Table. More than 30 years worth of witty/witless wordplay has been brought together in the rib-tickling tome that is: From Bard To Verse.

In the heart of magical Cliodaven's Dewforest, the harmonious Arvie, skin changers, with their ability to transform into ravens, are targeted by relentless poachers drawn to their magical feathers and beaks. Stand alongside the noble skin changers, under the guidance of the wise Illdran, as they fight tooth and nail for their survival against the treacherous poachers, Ragar and Garik. Each turn of the page plunges you deeper into a perilous world where life is a relentless battle, and bravery is the ultimate weapon. Within the heart-pounding tale of survival, a soft melody of forbidden love plays out. Caelen, a daring skin changer, and Leira, a poacher's daughter, dance on the edge of their worlds, weaving a poignant tale of clandestine love.Their story is a glimmer of hope, a beacon shining the light of unity and understanding in a world cleaved apart. Dive headfirst into "Raven's Bane," where every flutter of wings resounds with courage, love, and resilience, and magic swirls as vividly as the wind in the trees. Ravens Bane can be enjoyed independently at any stage in the sequence of my other books as it offers a more in-depth exploration of the Arvi world. A subject that the Chronicles of Arghost merely skimmed. Furthermore, it subtly suggests upcoming narratives and interactions that are part of the chronicles and my other works.

Following on the heels of his successful film Black Swan, celebrated filmmaker Darren Aronofsky turns his talent to the epic big-budget biblical tradition with his film Noah. Noah (Russell Crowe) attempts to tell his people to cease their mistreatment of the earth in order to be saved. No one listens to his warnings, and Noah and his family are cast out to fend for themselves in the wilderness. Noah approaches a race of giant six-armed angels known as the Watchers to rally them to his cause. The film touches on themes found throughout Aronofsky's work - dichotomy of life/death, inner turmoil, otherness - presented with the iconic Aronofsky singular and compelling aesthetic. This film book is an extension of Aronofsky's otherworldly sensibilities; it showcases art from the film and the director at work, and is a must-have for fans of Aronofsky and of cinema everywhere.
Darren Bader: 77 And/Or 58 And/Or 19
This volume of writings by New York conceptualist Darren Bader (born 1978) features texts for 77 artworks. Writing is at the core of Bader's work: he offers deceptively simple propositions for artworks to be carried out by gallerists, museums and collectors who then exhibit the works. Each time a work is sold, Bader produces a text that explains the parameters of the artwork. The propositions can be extremely precise or abstract; however, these guides are not made available to the public. Bader has also written propositions for impossible artworks, such as a proposal for installing a baby-changing table under Leonardo da Vinci's "The Last Supper" at the Convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie in Milan. This book foregrounds Bader's writing and provides a key to his humorous and sometimes enigmatic works.
