This collection has been described elsewhere as being "rollicking". It ranges over life and death in the Northern wilderness of the Yukon; the hazards of gambling and of drinking, and the bonds that are formed among the men who brave a life in which they must pit their personal character and body against fierce elements.

"Designs in Nature" reproduced 100 color plates created by Ernst Haekel (1834-1919). In the main, these were drawings of animals, sea creatures and shells - most of them seldom seen outside biology textbooks or museum exhibits. The same 100 plates have been rendered in black and white to create "Designs in Nature: The Coloring Book". Each is produced at the same size as the colored version and on a separate sheet to make coloring and removal of individual images easier.

Over 700 English language quotations chosen to provide a wide range of thoughtful expressions which can be used when having just the right words is critical. The quotes are authored by entertainers, philosophers, educators, scientists and a host of other professionals and artists. These writers and thinkers are as old as Cicero and as current as Donald Trump. The authors' date of birth (and death-if applicable) and a brief description of his or her work or place in society is also provided. These quotations have been organized according to subject matter: dealing first with typical life stages from birth to death and then with themes such as positive vs negative emotions; health, diet and exercise and various social features and issues. This collection (Vol. 1) is intended as a jumping off point for additional volumes in this series which will each deal with a different topic such as depression, anxiety, well-being, etc.
The Queen's Window by David Hockney Westminster Abbey
The Queen's Window was designed by renowned artist David Hockney for Westminster Abbey and unveiled in autumn 2018. The work was commissioned to celebrate the reign of Queen Elizabeth II as England's longest-serving monarch. The resulting design is a vibrantly coloured and quintessentially English country scene featuring a Yorkshire landscape with the hawthorn blossom that Hockney loves. In an extended conversation between Hockney and fellow-artist Tacita Dean, the artist reflects on his approach to the design and his use of colour, as well on the underlying themes that the window represents.

A Sermon Preach'd Before the Lords ... in the Abbey-Church at Westminster, on the 5th of November, 1745. ... By Richard Lord Bishop of St. David's
The 18th century was a wealth of knowledge, exploration and rapidly growing technology and expanding record-keeping made possible by advances in the printing press. In its determination to preserve the century of revolution, Gale initiated a revolution of its own: digitization of epic proportions to preserve these invaluable works in the largest archive of its kind. Now for the first time these high-quality digital copies of original 18th century manuscripts are available in print, making them highly accessible to libraries, undergraduate students, and independent scholars. The Age of Enlightenment profoundly enriched religious and philosophical understanding and continues to influence present-day thinking. Works collected here include masterpieces by David Hume, Immanuel Kant, and Jean-Jacques Rousseau, as well as religious sermons and moral debates on the issues of the day, such as the slave trade. The Age of Reason saw conflict between Protestantism and Catholicism transformed into one between faith and logic -- a debate that continues in the twenty-first century.++++The below data was compiled from various identification fields in the bibliographic record of this title.
