In 1999 I relocated my family from New London, CT. to Fayetteville, NC. My Pastor (Michael Pacella) joined the Army and was stationed at Ft Bragg and suggested I move to Fayetteville and "teach the Green Berets". Within 6 months I was teaching the US Special Forces. In June 2001 I receive my first contract from 2/3 SFG (A) and was "Officially Contracted" to teach the US Special Forces "FIGHT CUT Combatives" (Fully Integrated Grappling and Hitting Techniques - Close Up Techniques) which teaches Military Combative in a simple, direct, and effective manner. FIGHT CUT was selected and contracted and was proudly being taught to the US Special Forces, the 82nd ABN DIV, and many other units. From Tang Soo Do I drew kicks, strikes, and blocks. From Japanese Ju Jitsu I drew joint locks, sweeps, throws, chokes, and arm bars. From Brazilian Jiu Jitsu I drew ground fighting techniques and from Kali I drew stick and knife fighting techniques. This book was designed to introduce students to the beginning techniques of Arnis (also known as Escrima or Kali). Students can train and level (Rank) in Arnis.

"Beginning Arnis (Stick Fighting) Vol 1 was made as a simple guide to help students learn the Filipino martial art of Arnis (also called "Escrima" and "Kali"). In 1985 I opened my first school in Old Lyme, CT and in 1986 I went full time and opened my second school in New London, CT. I was a member of a martial arts Association and felt the knife techniques were "dangerous". So I decided to study Arnis. At the time Remi Presas was making the rounds and spreading FMA (Filipino Martial Arts). Somewhere around 1987 I took a clinic with Remi Presas. Shortly after this clinic Greg Alland walked into my school. At first I thought he came in to ask about lessons but it soon became apparent he was there to teach me. He said he practiced Arnis and I said "I just took a clinic with Remi Presas". He asked me to show him what I knew (Which I admitted was not much at all) and then Greg made the sticks hum He moved the sticks like the propellor of a helicopter. He asked about my knife defenses and soon he was "buttering" me with the knife like a kid makes a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. It was ugly -BUT I found a teacher (Well - he found me ) I introduced Greg Alland to Kwan Jhang Nim Charles Ferraro and this began our long study of Arnis with Greg Alland. In 1999 I relocated my family from New London, CT. to Fayetteville, NC. My Pastor (Michael Pacella) joined the Army and was stationed at Ft Bragg and suggested I move to Fayetteville and "teach the Green Berets". In the Holy Bible we see when Sarah heard she was going to bear a child in her old age she laughed in her heart and when Pastor Pacella said I should teach the US Special Forces I laughed in my heart too But, as if it were prophesy - sure enough and within 6 months I was teaching the US Special Forces. In June 2001 I receive my first contract from 2/3 SFG (A) and was "Officially Contracted" to teach the US Special Forces "FIGHT CUT Combatives" (Fully Integrated Grappling and Hitting Techniques - Close Up Techniques). To create FIGHT CUT I volunteered one year of working with 2/3 SFG (A) to develop and refine a Combatives Course which would teach the skills needed for Combatives in a simple, direct, and effective manner. FIGHT CUT was selected andcontracted and was proudly being taught to the US Special Forces and the 82nd ABN DIV. From Tang Soo Do I drew kicks, strikes, and blocks. From Japanese Ju Jitsu I drew joint locks, sweeps, throws, chokes, and arm bars. From Brazilian Jiu Jitsu I drew groundfighting techniques and from Kali I drew stick and knife fighting techniques. This book was designed to introduce students to the beginning techniques of Arnis (Kali - Escrima). Students can train and level (Rank) in Arnis.

"Imagine a team whose sole purpose is to glorify God in all they do. Whether it's washing dishes, playing with children in schools, feeding the poor or spending tme with the Moriah Baptist Youth Group, they are ever present and full of love. They inspire those around them, and lean on each other and encourage one another. God is very present in their walk, they bring joy wherever they go and openly share the wisdom and experiences learned on the race that I hope to carry throughout my journey. They have taught many of us that the race is challenging and that it will change you forever. These team members will contnue to serve God long afer they fnish the "race". I know that they will contnue to fight. Regardless of what life calls them to, I know that the love of God will shine through them the rest of their life. They truly are "Wild" for Gods love, roaring with a burning heart and desire to spread the love of God."

Imagine arriving in Xenacoj, Guatemala, a very small poor Mayan village 6,500 feet above sea level in the rural mountains of Central Guatemala...where the houses are very tiny with dirt floors, tin roofs, and the mountains and all the trees and plants are the most amazing thing you've ever seen. The people are all super friendly, and maybe 5 people in the entire village Speak English. As you walk down the street you're greeted by everyone you see You'll bounce up a dirt road, jam packed into a 15 passenger van to a small village named "Aypan". Ayapan recently opened up to letting missionaries visit. In fact, David, our Mission Host was the FIRST MISSIONARY to ever visit this village. Here's the thing about Aypan, if they don't know who you are or if they don't know why you are there, they have been known to kill some people.. You'll experiences the frustration of not being able to communicate in Spanish, and since you can't remember the word for popcorn when you go to buy popcorn you'll put you hands together, making popping noises while pulling them apart You'll jump on a horse for the first time (with no instruction whatsoever except don't pull on the reigns to hard and left is left and right is right ) You'll volunteer in a wheelchair factory and play wheel chair basketball against the worers You learn fast the difficulty of pushing a wheel chair while shooting for the hoop. You'll eyes will turn red, tear and you'll cough as you serve in our feeding program as you stir a vat of Atole (a local rice based drink). During team worship you'll fall on your face and cry out to God. You'll give widows corn and rice and you'll bless them by cleaning their houses or putting in chimneys for them. You'll hand out over 1000 New Testament Kaqchikel (their Mayan language) Bibles with Wycliffe Bible Translations. This is the first time in history the New Testament was given to these people in their own language. You'll bless a widow and shovel poop...chicken poop. You'll relive the miracle of the multiplied fish and bread given to the 5000. You have 400 bags of candy and over 450 children. The bags NEVER empty, and are full at the end Your heart will break as you visit a widow with a dirt floor, cooking in a room with no ventilation and just a hole in the ground for a toilet. .She doesn't even have running water. Her kitchen is an empty room, literally. She sleeps on cardboard You'll volunteer at the mudslide that was in the news last Oct. You'll sort through donated clothes for the families. At the morgue next to the mudslide your heart will feel as if its being ripped through your skin as you pray for two brothers just lost both their parents, and were waiting to see if their sister had perished. And in Antigua you'll enjoy some of the worlds best coffee and feel the wonder of being in a huge crowd as you lite and release your lantern at the lantern festival You'll experience all this, and more as you read this book. Did you ever want to write a book? Many people want to write a book; do it Many people want to go on short term mission trips; Do it Many people want to do many things. But few do it So, get out your bucket list and start knocking them off Writing a book is not easy. Writing a book in less than 26 days is outright difficult; coupled with feeding children, visiting hundreds of widows and orphans, laundry, blogging, living with many other people Dealing with culture shock, occasional "Montezuma's revenge", possible home sickness...and the list goes on and on But despite all this Atarah Doves team did it Chances are if you're reading this book you either know someone from Atarah Doves or GO Ministries, or you know someone who knows someone from Atarah Doves or GO Ministries, and while you may not be able to spend a month in Guatemala at this time, you'll be able to experience it through the words and photos of Atarah Doves. Your heart will break when you learn a 16 year old girl committed suicide. A few of your squadmates happened to be near her house right after it happened. They witnessed the police bring her body out and the cries of the broken hearted family members. You'll ride on the roof of a 15 passenger van driving up a long and bumpy dirt rode to scoop rice and beans for children who look like they were "dipped in an egg batter and rolled in dirt", you'll cry and sit at the foot of a bed and gaze into a widows eyes as she tells you the joys and pains of her life. You'll laugh teaching English and feel the warmth of little children running to fight to hold your hand. And that's why this book; to share their stories with you; their friends and family.

We started the year 2017 with a boom It was the day when the AIM Missionaries arrived inBacolod City, Philippines. The people at First Sunshine Baptist Church, the host church, were so excited upon their arrival. The church prepared and prayed for months back prior to their coming. We let them taste the beauty of Filipino hospitality by hosting a welcome program. A sumptuous dinner with pork lechon, a symbol of Filipino party, along with other Filipino delicacies we served after the program. It was such an enjoyable moment for both Filipinos and Americans introducing each other and laughing together as new friends. Neither culture nor language was a barrier to the nice fellowship we had that we did not notice the passing of time. We finished past ten o'clock in the evening. The missionaries faithfully did their respective tasks assigned to them. Those who were assigned to FSBC were exposed to different Christian ministries. What was more exciting during their stay was that, several FSBC members joined hands with them in going house to house evangelism around our vicinity to share students the Word of God. It was awesome to note that we were able to create a great impact in the lives of our neighbors through evangelism and witnessing for the Lord Jesus. Several decisions for salvation were made On behalf of First Sunshine Baptist Church, I would like to thank brother David Sgro for being instrumental in bringing the AIM Missionaries to our church. We were tremendously blessed. As a final note, I know that the influence of FSBC still remains in the hearts and minds of those who were part of the team. We ask you to continue praying for the people whose lives were touched through their ministry. As God continues to work here, we know He will use the experience we shared to multiply growth in His kingdom through FSBC and by the guidance of God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen

"We started the year 2017 with a boom It was the day when the thirty-nine AIM Missionaries arrived in Bacolod City, Philippines. The people at First Sunshine Baptist Church, the host church, were so excited upon their arrival. The church prepared and prayed for 18 months back prior to their coming. We let them taste the beauty of Filipino hospitality by hosting a welcome program two days after. Several presentations were performed including interpretative dances, folk dances and other song numbers prepared by the FSBC people and pupils of Sunshine Christian Academy, a ministry school of First Sunshine Baptist Church. We were also amazed by the song numbers and unique presentations of the missionaries. For three weeks, the missionaries faithfully did their respective tasks assigned to them. Those who were assigned to FSBC were exposed to different Christian ministries. They were brought to DYVS, a Christian radio station aired in the region to proclaim God's truth. Some of them guested in the ABS-CBN TV Station to promote the culminating activity held the day before they left. What was more exciting during their stay was that, several FSBC members joined hands with them in going house to house evangelism around our vicinity. We went to eight different public and private and private elementary schools, high school and college to share students the Word of God. It was awesome to note that we were able to create a great impact in the lives of around eight thousand students through room to room evangelism and witnessing for the Lord Jesus. Several decisions for salvation were made by the attending pupils and students On behalf of First Sunshine Baptist Church, I would like to thank brother David Sgro for being instrumental in bringing the AIM Missionaries to our church. We were tremendously blessed. As a final note, I know that the influence of FSBC still remains in the hearts and minds of those who were part of the team. We came into this month excited to impact the communities of Xenacoj, Santa Maria, and Ayapan for the Kingdom of God. I do not think any of us realized how deeply we would be impacted by the people of these communities while we were trying to impact them. We came to love widows and orphans, and in the process God grew and softened our hearts for the widows and the fatherless. He then gave us the opportunity to introduce the fatherless to their heavenly Father, the one that will never leave and forsake them. He used us to show the lonely and broken that they are not forgotten, and remind us that we are also not forgotten. He grew our hearts to love these communities deeply, and I believe we are leaving chunks of our hearts here in Guatemala. This month we learned to love deeply, give generously, and be foolishly compassionate. Thank you for investing in this book and this ministry. "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world." James 1:27

The story of King David, his childhood, his battle with the Philistines, his women, and the tragedy of his son Absalom, is full of excitement, but yet is only a part of his life. His relationship with the Lord God was the key thing, and he danced before the Lord. He was also the first King of Israel, and our story starts at the time when Jerusalem was conquered by Babylon, and its people taken away into captivity. They started to look back at the foundation myths of their history, and the story of David and Solomon, when the kingdom was at the height of its glory, seemed to be just the story to tell. So that is how the collection of stories of David came to be compiled into the books we can read today.

A reexamination of the biblical David, legendary warrior, poet, and king, by one of America’s most respected rabbis Of all the figures in the Bible, David arguably stands out as the most perplexing and enigmatic. He was many things: a warrior who subdued Goliath and the Philistines; a king who united a nation; a poet who created beautiful, sensitive verse; a loyal servant of God who proposed the great Temple and founded the Messianic line; a schemer, deceiver, and adulterer who freely indulged his very human appetites. David Wolpe, whom Newsweek called “the most influential rabbi in America,” takes a fresh look at biblical David in an attempt to find coherence in his seemingly contradictory actions and impulses. The author questions why David holds such an exalted place in history and legend, and then proceeds to unravel his complex character based on information found in the book of Samuel and later literature. What emerges is a fascinating portrait of an exceptional human being who, despite his many flaws, was truly beloved by God.

"God and whiskey have got me where I am. Too little of the one, too much of the other." - David King, Chatham, Canada, 1895. Born a slave in 1847, but raised as a free man on the world-renowned, African-American Elgin Settlement near present-day Chatham, Ontario, David King is a man whose life has been defined by his violent rebellion against the very person who freed him - the Reverend William King. Far from the pulpit he was intended to fill as the Reverend King's anointed successor, David has lost his faith in God and humanity. He has also turned his back on both his past and his own people by abandoning the Elgin Settlement for nearby Chatham after a final, shattering confrontation with the Reverend King. Undoubtedly, the most unconventional man in town, David is also - thanks to his illegal after-hours tavern, Sophia's, and his highly lucrative grave robbing business - one of Chatham's richest citizens, white or black, and certainly its best read. Triggered by the news of the elderly Reverend King's death, the middle-aged David is compelled to revisit a past he thought he left behind, but which - as evidenced by his inability to embrace the happiness he so dearly earned - he clearly has not. Ranging over the early years of the pioneering Elgin Settlement, David's wild, whiskey-fueled early years in Chatham as a factory worker and apprentice grave-robber, and his day-to-day life with his ex-prostitute German lover in present-day, 1895 Chatham, David is a portal to a fascinating, if mostly unknown piece of Canadian history, as well as, the story of one man's search for wisdom, peace, and forgiveness.

This classic text by Charles Kingsley presents five famous sermons by King David. David is described in the Hebrew Bible as a king of the United Monarchy of Israel and Judah. In the Books of Samuel, David is a young shepherd and harpist who gains fame by slaying the giant Goliath, a champion of the Philistines in southern Canaan. David becomes a favorite of the first king of united Israel, Saul, and forges a close friendship with Jonathan, a son of Saul.
