Revelation 2:7 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit said unto the church. When I first began to write these poems, I was asked to do "The Welcome" for my Pastor's anniversary. I said that I would but did not know where to begin. I had told God to use me in any way He wanted. So I prayed and asked God to help me prepare to do work for Him. Right away He said for me to get a pencil and paper. I did, and the words came from Him, as I began to write them down. I remember crying, worshiping and thanking God for being so awesome, for I know it is not me. It is a gift that He has given me, and I can only do it if He gives it to me. Occasionally I may be a little sleepy, but He will wake me up and tell me to get a pen and paper or He will just start speaking the words to me, and I will start writing them down. Sometimes it can be while I'm watching TV, reading, working, or even if someone is on my heart or on my mind. I have asked God to give me a word of encouragement for someone to rest on their heart because He knew what they were going through. I recall one Sunday morning when getting ready for church, I was singing and praising Him (you know He loves that). And I said to Him, "God, I would like to send a couple of my poems in for a contest, so you let me know which ones to send in." Right away He told me which ones to enter. He also told me that theses were not poems but "messages" for His people and were to be shared, not just for me to keep to myself. Glory be to God, the Father, Son and Holy Ghost. I hope that this book of messages that have been inspired by God will help you in some way.

Chase prepared himself for the ride of his life. With a warhoop from one of the cowboys, Target came to life. He left the ground as if a keg of dynamite had exploded under him, carrying Chase in one powerful lunge skyward. Before Chase had a chance to guess Target's next move, he was taken on a fast-paced trip filled with jaw-breaking, personal seat-to-the-saddle bounces as the horse bucked, circling the perimeter of the lot, kicking his back feet high in the air and nearly dumping Chase over his head. The horse came to a sudden halt, heaving for breath. Just as everyone watching thought he'd worn himself out, Target went into a gyration of whirling and bucking, squealing with blood-curdling volume, flopping Chase about in the saddle like a rubber ball. Again he stopped, then reared high, paving at the heavens. Chase felt himself slipping. He had just enough sense left to lean forward and pound a balled fist on the horse's head. The force drove Target back on all fours. His body was wrapped in a blanket of frothy sweat and his head hung low, nose nearly touching the ground, He had given his all and was now spent of any energy, trembling with weakness.Chase sat frozen in the saddle, feeling loopy in the head from the torture the horse had put him through. He, like Target, had nothing left to give.About the AuthorDeloris and her husband Jess lived all their married lives in Tarkio, a small town in the northwest corner of Missouri, until Jess's death in 2005. They were blessed with three children, four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Deloris is an avid Western fan, and has loved Western movies and books with a hero like Gene Autry since childhood, very likely stemming from her early association with her mom's old 78 records and Saturday Westerns at the Tarkio theater. She enjoys writing and putting her own take on Westerns from her imagination on paper. Deloris would enjoy hearing from any readers at [email protected].
