Introduction to Family Processes: Diverse Families, Common Ties serves to provide an explanation of the complex workings of inner family life. The text primarily focuses on family processes and dynamics (the "inside" of families) as opposed to sociological trends, political topics, or the individual psychological approach. The text further presents the research underlying these processes and effectively presents ways to increase the positive aspects of family life. This edition has been updated to include current research and contemporary topics. The text has been divided into four parts: Foundations, Building and Establishing Families, Maintaining Families, and Change/Turbulence/Gains/Losses. While the research methods chapter still provides an introductory examination of family science research, it now includes an expanded discussion on research design, methods, and advances in the area. A new chapter, titled "Forgiveness, Kindness, Hope, and Gratitude" has been incorporated to amplify positive family processes and highlight emerging research. This edition provides added emphasis on diverse families (e.g., race/ethnicity, family structure, LGBTQIA, ability, culture, and family formation), and each chapter includes a new "Discussions in Diversity" section related to that chapter. The authors have consciously included an epilogue as a way of reflecting on what they have learned, along with what they hope to learn in the future.Aimed at courses related to family studies and family dynamics, this text provides a comprehensive review of family processes. Whether it is used for undergraduate or graduate classes, professional growth, or personal enrichment, the text assists readers in enhancing the positive aspects of family life, avoiding undesirable aspects, and more effectively managing the challenges and obstacles families face that cannot be avoided. Thus, the text holds an appeal for people who live (or will live) in families, as well as those who want to work with families.

The Eyes of Summer is a fun-filled tale of adventure, mystery, and danger aboard a luxury yacht. Ian Conner, a medical student interning at the University of California, Irvine, and his surfer girlfriend Dee live in Huntington Beach. The two are spending their summer on a 70-foot yacht moored at Catalina Island. Naturally curious, Dee is a journalist for a local newspaper, leading the couple to soon suspect that some illegal activity is going on at another yacht. The situation turns sinister when they discover what they believe to be drugs and money laundering taking place. In the blink of an eye, the couple's summer jaunt turns from pleasurable to deadly. (About the Author) A beach lover, Denise Ann Stock grew up in Huntington Beach, California, and currently resides in Florida. This is the sequel to her novel Blow Out Summer.
Life can sometimes be a collection of random storms that we must weather, like ships at sea. Families maneuver these storms throughout their lives. Ian and Dee Conner share the storms their family members experience in this third book of a series. The Conners are a close-knit family of five who live in a beach community, enjoying surfing, biking, and doing what most families do. Together they weather some tumultuous storms. The couple tried to run from a big storm they created in California, moving to the east coast of Florida to start over and raise their family. They shut away the skeletons of their past, never telling anyone their secrets. Other skeletons appear on both sides of Ian and Dee's family trees, but often these skeletons (storms) are what bring families together. Eventually, Ian and Dee realize that nothing can stop a raging storm: They must face the past to have a future. Their family and children must chart their own course in life. It may not always be what they hoped, but one day the storm will end, and the waters will calm. That is, until the next Random Summer Storms.
Surf, party, and romance take center stage in the breezy novel Blow Out Summer, as a group of local surfers in Huntington Beach, California, enjoy a summertime of hanging out and having fun. Their story takes place in the mid 1970s, when no one was paying much attention to the drugs being brought into California at an alarming rate. But Dee Dee's eyes are about to be opened. Dee Dee lives in a very well-to-do area and is introduced to social drug experimentation and drug trafficking while maintaining a normal family life. She and her friends enjoy the surf up and down the coast of California. Her friends run the gamut from the very wealthy to beach bums she met at the pier. Dee Dee's lazy summer is spent under beautiful sunny days with slow drifting clouds and perfect barrel waves. But the ups and downs in her relationships and the dangers of dabbling in drugs ultimately force her a decision that will change her life.Author Bio - Denise Ann Stock's first book is based on her research of drug trafficking in the mid '70s. She grew up in Huntington Beach, California, the Surf Capital of the continental United States, and moved to Jacksonville, Florida, after her marriage.

The fifth book of author Denise Ann Stock's Summer series involves a crime so heinous that a long-time friendship will not survive the aftermath. Christian Connor is the son of heart surgeon Ian Connor. When Christian is shot and left for dead on his front porch, he fights for his life as his family looks for answers. His sister Taylor deals with her own guilt of trying out for a professional surfing league while still being there for her brother. The Connors learn that a mafia family may be at the center of the crimes against them. Local law enforcement works to protect the family from the danger that stalks them, but the revelation of the shooter's identity is a shocker that rocks the family to its core. Denise Ann Stock grew up in Huntington Beach, California. "I got married and we moved to Florida. I went from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean. It was slower paced and a great place to raise our children. By day, I am an executive administrative assistant. My passion is storytelling. I like to write at night when all is quiet. Hobbies are tennis, and anything we do as a family at the beach or on the ocean."

Many pupils will work on the same learning objectives for many years and the scheme of work included in this book tries to show how similar learning objectives can be taught in an age appropriate way. In addition is clear guidance about precisely what needs to be learnt in order to achieve the key reception objectives identified in the National Numeracy Strategy. These key objectives currently contain too many different elements to enable teachers to break down clearly the small steps of learning that need to take place. Related to these component parts of the learning objectives are a wide range of activities and resources to help teachers choose activities which will be motivating and enjoyable for pupils and encourage them to learn more quickly. The activities have been carefully chosen to clearly match the learning objectives identified.
