Can we live in America without being defined by race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or religion? In this book, the authors share the true stories of Samir Dyfan, an immigrant and his struggle to remain a man with no race or ethnicity in a race-obsessed American higher education system.

An anthology of four delicious, erotic stories, each beautifully crafted for your enjoyment... Got Muscle? by Tina Donahue (M/F) It's so nice to have a hunk around the house... As a recent transplant from New York, Bree's certain her company transferred her to the London office because she wasn't model-thin like the American staff. To rectify that, she's bought a home gym. Now all she needs is someone to put the bloody thing together so she can sweat herself into a micro mini. David has muscle to spare. Tall, dark, and sinfully handsome, he's doing odd jobs until he gets his start-up off the ground. As far as David's concerned, Bree's lush curves don't need improving, just a man who can appreciate them. He'll definitely give her all the exercise she needs. M nage at Mealtime by Bella Settarra (M/F/M) Naomi Powell nervously prepares for a dinner party where she hopes to secure a lucrative deal with a new publisher. Her ex, Richard, is also attending with his new girlfriend, Naomi's best friend, Paula. When Naomi hears a bird stuck in her chimney she urgently calls 'Men for Hire' for help. Two gorgeous guys, Aaron and James, come to her rescue. Not only do they solve her chimney problem, they woo her guests and give Naomi the time of her life-m nage-style However, when Richard announces that he wants Naomi back, will she follow convention or follow her heart? Calculated Risk by Michelle Roth (M/F) Stella Whitman has inherited her mother's country home. When she finds it in utter disrepair, her cousin suggests that she call Men for Hire in search of a handyman. When he arrives, she's somewhat shocked to find that his deep brown eyes and rugged good looks are giving her some very inappropriate thoughts. Despite his instant attraction to Stella, Ian Starling has convinced himself that they need to keep things strictly professional. He's been burnt before and has vowed never again. It becomes increasingly more difficult as he gets to know her, though. Then one rainy night changes everything... Marital Duties by Jennifer Denys (M/F) Delighted her 'Men for Hire' business was doing so well, Jennifer wasn't expecting several of her clients to fall in love with her employees. At least they were getting sex. She was married and didn't even get that most basic of husbandly tasks. An idea came to her, and she amusingly completed an employee request form, asking her husband to do his marital duties. Rob was stunned when he received the form mistakenly sent out by Jennifer's assistant. Well, if his lovely wife wanted him to perform his duties, he would undertake them. Only, it wouldn't be what she was asking for... Publisher Note: Romance anthology with a total of 43,756 words.

A collection of short fiction, flashes and longer pieces, with interconnections among many of the stories. A writer receives a strange rejection letter from a literary journal where he submitted a short story... a woman reflects on past loves while sitting around a table with three of them... two government agents intercept an ominous sounding blog post from a whacked-out teenager... a man is seduced by a close relative, only to discover belatedly that it is perhaps he who is the more guilty party to the encounter... a lonely office clerk wonders where he has seen his new coworker before... a kid turns the tables on a sexual predator... A Box of Dreams follows in the tradition of Spoon River Anthology and Winesburg, Ohio. The voices are hurt, dazed, occasionally triumphant, and seldom fully trustworthy. Illustrated in splendid style by Jacksonville, Florida artist Louise Freshman Brown.Denis Bell's collection of short fiction A Box of Dreams, 2nd edition, centers itself in the tradition of Spoon River Anthology (minus the tombstones) and Winesburg, Ohio. A Box of Dreams is dark without a trace of cynicism: it invites empathy for even the least attractive of the characters; these protagonists commonly suffer from mangled memories, rightful guilt, and an inability to distinguish between delusion and reality, between past and present. The stories tease and tantalize: truth glimmers between the lines. Louise Freshman Brown's gorgeous images are haunting illuminations.-- -Miriam N. Kotzin, author, Country Music, Spuyten Duyvil Press"Denis Bell and flash fiction represent a marriage made in Heaven. The two dozen short works in his collection, A Box of Dreams, show him working at the top of his game. In each, the reader's mind is taken for a weird, wonderful walk that's by turns wryly humorous and darkly intriguing. Louise Brown's illustrations lend just the right atmosphere for an absorbing read." - Paul Blaney, Writer in Residence, Rutgers University, author, The Anchoress "Each piece in Denis Bell's A Box of Dreams is a work of magic that moves steadily along, pulling you in, and not letting you go... The stories are by turns haunting, heartbreaking and funny, and they never fail to surprise... Blending the real with the surreal, these stories, more than anything else, get to the heart of our humanity, our vulnerabilities, and they do so in a way that represents the best in flash fiction." -Dennis Pahl, Long Island University, Editor for Confrontation Magazine
Denis Bell is a maker of both mathematical formulas and small fictions, which he believes, weirdly, that he draws from a common font. He was born and raised in London, England and studied at the Universities of Manchester and Warwick. His scientific work has been recognized by national funding, an Outstanding Scholarship Award from the University of North Florida and a Research Professorship at MSRI in Berkeley, California. Linguistically challenged in earlier life (as evidenced by three attempts to obtain an English O-level ), he started writing fiction relatively recently. His writing has been published in Grub Street, The Maine Review, Flash: The International Short-Short Story Magazine, Journal of Microliterature, Literary Orphans and many other print and online literary magazines and journals. "Denis Bell's stories are short only in length; in insight, vision, humor and style they have a farseeing distance and depth that will keep you wedded to the page, either laughing, marveling, or scratching your head."-David L. Robbins, author, War of the Rats"A thought-provoking collection of flashes and longer stories: poignant, strange, humorous and humane. A Box of Dreams should be opened by all."-Peter Blair and Ashley Chantler. Editors for Flash: The International Short: Short Story Magazine "In A Box of Dreams, nothing is as it seems.
