A story of a family and their two pets. The family live in quiet countryside village. They find an abandoned kitten whom they adopt. Soon afterwards the cat discovers a dog in distress in a nearby wood. He rescues the dog and these two animals become friends. The family then adopt the dog as well. The family does not know that, while resembling ordinary pets, the cat and dog share an amazing secret; they both can understand and use human speech! Now named "Cuddle Cat and Dozy Dog" these exceptional pets often discuss whether or not to tell their family of their special powers. However, just when they decide to tell the family they find themselves embroiled in a series of exciting adventures that often require them to defend and protect their family.While the pets' affection for the family grows, their dilemma of revealing they have a special power increases. This unresolved issue and their many adventures make this an amusing and exciting book for children and parents alike.
This book is a candid and humourous account of the author's adventures in sailing. It begins with his first experiences as a teenager with rowing boats in the North East of England. Later he describes the joys of sailing dinghies and cruisers in the South West of England. These adventures range from smooth idylic sails in good weather to a full on ship wreck in storm conditions. His tales of learning to sail expand to yacht racing on the Swan River in Perth and in the Indian Ocean, Western Australia. His lively and candid descriptions of fellow yachtsmen and women he met while sailing add wit and pathos to his abiding love of the sea. The release of Denys Arcand's Le Déclin de l'empire américain (The Decline of the American Empire) in 1986 marked a major turning point in Quebec cinema. It was the first Québécois film that enjoyed huge critical and commercial success at home and abroad. Arcand's tragicomedy about eight intellectuals gathered around a dinner table relating sexy anecdotes became the top-grossing film of all time in Quebec and was the first Canadian feature to be nominated for an Oscar in the foreign-language category.
