Everyone wants a stylish home, but with so much information available, how does one begin to put it all together? Enter Interior Design Master Class: 100 Rooms. The designers who ve created the remarkable spaces in this volume individually explain in their own words the framework for the success of each room. The spaces featured in the book are broken down by type of room, including Gathering (media and family rooms), Transitional (porches and entryways), Respite (bedrooms and sitting rooms), Entertaining (dining rooms and bars), and Utility (kitchens, baths, and mudrooms). In each category, the multiple examples by designers well known from their appearances in Architectural Digest, Elle Decor, and Southern Living explore a variety of topics. Katie Ridder uses her vibrant living room to write about establishing a successful palette. Suzanne Kasler writes about the importance of light in bedrooms. Frances Merrill of Reath Design shares her thoughts about kitchens. Mark Sikes contributes an essay on tables. Steven Gambrel writes about the color blue. Josh Greene expounds on the bath. Also featuring Bunny Williams, Robert Couturier, Heidi Caillier, Miles Redd and David Kaihoi, Nicole Hollis, and Corey Damen Jenkins, the book is an elegant guide to twenty-first-century living, room by room.

Interior Design Masters contains 300 biographical entries of people who have significantly impacted design. They are the people, historical and contemporary, that students and practitioners should know. Coverage starts in the late Renaissance, with a focus on the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. The book has five sections, with the entries alphabetical in each, so it can serve as a history textbook and a reference guide. The seventeeth- and eighteenth-century section covers figures from Thomas Chippendale to Horace Walpole. The nineteenth-century section includes William Morris and Candace Wheeler. The early twentieth-century section presents modernism’s design heroes, including Marcel Breuer, Eileen Gray, and Gilbert Rohde. The post-World War II designers range from Madeleine Castaing to Raymond Loewy. The final contemporary section includes Ron Arad and the Bouroullec brothers. These are the canonical figures who belong to any design history. The book also contains less well-known figures who deserve attention, such as Betty Joel, the British art deco furniture designer; Paul Veysseyre, the Frenchman active in China in the 1930s; and more recently Lanzavecchia-Wai, the Italian-Singaporean duo whose work ranges from health care to helicopters. Global in its coverage, the book is richly illustrated with over 600 black-and-white and color photographs.

New edition. It's time for a new approach to creating quilting designs The design master plan gets the most out of your design session by putting a motif through a series of steps. Whether you're new to quilting or have been quilting for years, you'll be amazed at how much the design changes. The design takes on a life of its own and creates a whole family of designs for you to choose from. If you've ever stared at a blank 12" square of paper waiting for inspiration to hit, this book is for you. Features include: where to find inspiration, what computer programs can do for the quilter (if you want to use one), the design process, aesthetics, how to create borders and getting the design quilt top ready. With around 900 illustrations, 125 concepts, 50 problems and 80 solutions, you'll never look at design in the same way again. Fiona was fed up with not being able to think of something wonderful to quilt on her quilts. An illustration computer program came into her life and that was the start of a beautiful friendship. She quickly developed a system for creating dozens to hundreds of designs from one idea. The system was so successful that she's decided to share it with you as well as hundreds of the designs that were created along the way. The great news is you don't need a computer program or to be an artist either. Many of the designs in this book are also available as patterns in From labels to whole-cloths: Volumes one and two. After creating around 200 designs during the pandemic, she had to include many of them in new editions of all three books. With 12 new pages and hundreds more designs, it couldn't be more jam packed with ideas that will unleash your creativity.

Design of Master Agreements for OTC Derivatives

Design of Master Agreements for OTC Derivatives

I first came across the issue of derivatives documentation when writing my diploma thesis on measuring the credit risk ofOTC derivatives while I was an economics student at the University of Bonn. Despite the fact that security design has been an area of research in economics for many years and despite the widespread use of derivatives documentation in financial practice, the task of designing contracts for derivatives transactions has not been dealt with in financial theory. The one thing that aroused my curiosity was that two parties with usually opposing interests, namely banking supervisors and the banking industry's lobby, unanimously endorse the use ofcertain provisions in standardized contracts called master agreements. Do these provisions increase the ex ante efficiency of contracts for all parties involved? I actually began my research expecting to find support for the widely held beliefs about the efficiency or inefficiency of certain provisions and was sur prised to obtain results that contradicted the conventional wisdom. I would strongly advise against using these results in any political debate on deriva tives documentation. They were obtained within a highly stylized model with some restrictive assumptions. This work should rather be seen as an attempt to formalize the discussion on derivatives documentation and to challenge the notion that certain provisions are generally ex ante efficient. It is also an invitation to all those advocating the use of certain provisions in master agreements to formalize their arguments and to explain the economic ratio nale behind these provisions.
