I began collecting recipes while watching my Mom preparing meals. She allowed me to help but only allowed me to watch most of the time. When she made cakes, we were all there to lick off the spoon and bowl. There were six of us kids but most times, we all got to taste. As the years went by, she allowed me to participate more and more. By the time I was in high school, my sisters and I cooked most of the meals and became good cooks. We each had our favorite recipes and used them constantly. We still do. I'm a country cook and enjoy the foods I grew up with. Over the years I've added many recipes to my collection but still prefer the old timey ways of preparation although I must admit, Crock Pots are wonderful. Mama's life would have been so much simpler if she'd had one. Go with me now as I walk down my path of delicious memories and share some of my Mom's, sister's, daughter's, and Bob's recipes

To help children realize that pets are not much different from them, and that a commitment to a pet is very important and special. I would like to encourage children to have a pet, and that pets can be fun as well as a commitment. If a pet is treated with love, respect and care, the love and devotion in return is incredible.

This book is a story of a dull day turning into fun and an interesting adventure. It will help teach children that all creatures have a place of value. Even though they may seem useless, their value may be that they are a great food source for another living thing. Children will learn that even creepy, crawly, slimy slugs are important and have a purpose. All of my Children's stories are based on true life experiences. I would like children to learn that all creatures are useful in some way and add to our World's function. Respect of all living things will help children to be more interested and involved in the basic issues in life.

I want to help children understand that pets are a huge undertaking, not much different from them, and that a commitment to a pet is very important and special. I would like to encourage children to have a pet, but to realize that pets can be work as well as fun. If a pet is treated with love, respect, and care, the love and devotion in return is incredible. A pet can be a joy for many years, but also requires much time and attention. This kitten was not far from death when my son brought her home. With much love and devotion to this little creature, we were able to save her life. In return we had many years of enjoyment and pleasure from her playful behaviour.
Still Doing It: The Intimate Lives of Women Over Sixty

"An informed, honest, joyous book. Younger women may well envy us." -Suzanne Braun Levine, author of Inventing the Rest of Our Lives and "Sex, love, and life can grow even richer as we grow older, and the stereotype-busting women in this book show us scores of ways. These women are not going downhill, they're on a roll. They are women of juice and wisdom-and living proof that the best is yet to come."- Gina Ogden, PhD, author of Women Who Love Sex, The Heart and Soul of Sex, and The Return of Desire When Deirdre Fishel and Diana Holtzberg began work on their documentary Still Doing It, they knew they were catching a wave. The women of the baby-boom generation who had been so outspoken about sexuality and freedom were about to turn sixty, yet no one was talking about the revolution in aging. Nor was anyone letting on about the big dark secret that women born before the boomers, even way before, were a hell of a lot more vital than the images we were getting, and many were still having sex-and loving it In Still Doing It, Fishel, Holtzberg, and the incredible women in their documentary broke the silence. Now they are back, with a stimulating and eye-opening book that offers a deeper look at women who break every stereotype we have about sex and intimacy. These women are dynamic, confident, opinionated, and wise. They're also having the kind of intense sexual experiences and fantasies we never associate with grandmothers. You'll meet Betty, who met her live-in boyfriend in an online chat room when she was sixty-nine and he was twenty-two; Joani, age seventy, who shares her boyfriend with another woman; and Frances, who encountered the intellectual and sexual love of her life at eighty. Today's women are living longer, healthier lives, and their appetite for sex and adventure isn't fading. Aware of their mortality, they understand just how precious life really is, and are willing to take risks to go after what they want. Challenging stereotypes about older women, Still Doing It lets everyone know that sex and adventure do not need to end when you hit sixty (or seventy . . . or ninety ). In fact, the good stuff is often just beginning.

Using a framework of online connection and disconnection, The Paradox of Connection examines how journalists’ practices are formed, negotiated, and maintained in dynamic social media environments. The interactions of journalists with the technological, social, and cultural features of online and social media environments have shaped new values and competencies--and the combination of these factors influence online work practices. Merging case studies with analysis, the authors show how the tactics of online connection and disconnection interact with the complex realities of working in today’s media environments. The result is an insightful portrait of fast-changing journalistic practices and their implications for both audiences and professional identities and norms.

It's pure myth that women need to be more aggressive to succeed. Since the time when Sheryl Sandberg's Lean In was first published in 2013, one thing has become strikingly clear: leaning in simply isn't enough to turn the tide. To the contrary, studies show that imitating male behavior doesn't translate to professional advancement for women. The distinctive missing link is influence. In every industry, from private equity investing to network television, women are underrepresented at the top and underpaid across the board and throughout their careers. The gap in the literature about what puts women ahead is influence--the capacity to have an impact on agendas and outcomes. Influence is more important to the women we work with than power itself. The Influence Effect focuses on building influence that will enable women to gain traction in their careers and to achieve the advancement they deserve. The tools in this book are geared to help women rise above the politics of business and succeed on their own terms by achieving greater influence. Women have goals they want to achieve and ideas they can champion through change, and influence is the currency they need to make that happen.
