Diane Hughes knows first-hand that a journey through grief has no end. There is no way to prepare for how grief will make us feel or how we will handle it. Sometimes, we just have to hold onto whatever is around us, just to survive. In a touching memoir, she details the deeply personal path that she and her husband, Kevin, took together after his aggressive, stage four bowel cancer diagnosis in April 2018. Shared in the form of diary entries, Diane chronologically offers a glimpse into their emotions as they attempted to process the devastating news, Kevin's treatments and care plan, the side effects associated with his chemotherapy, and the overall ups and downs as she and Kevin grappled with all the associated challenges of having terminal cancer-until his eventual death in February 2020. Included are entries that disclose her cycle of grief over the next several months as she processed his death and tried to find her way into a new chapter. Cancer: Our Journey is a story of love, grief, and healing as a wife and her beloved husband navigate their way down a challenging path after a devastating diagnosis.

This research-based book outlines career models for artists, methods of creative engagement, artistic options including individuality and branding, production practices, the realities of being a musician in the new industries, and implications for popular music education. Due to the profound effects of the digitisation of music, the music industries have undergone rapid transformation. The former record label dominated industry has been supplanted by new industries, including digital aggregators, strategists and online platforms. These new music industries now facilitate ‘direct’ access to both artists and their music. While such accessibility and the potential for artist exposure have never been greater, the challenge to stand out or to even navigate a musical career pathway is formidable. A useful resource for musicians and educators, this text highlights the ways in which the new music industries facilitate increased opportunities for 21st Century popular musicians tocollaborate, communicate and interact with others interested in their music.

Further Explorations in the Energy-Water Nexus

The exploration for and production of oil and gas to meet our nation's energy needs also results in the production of large quantities of water as a by-product. This water, which is produced from wells during exploration and production, is known as "produced water." Because produced water may contain a variety of contaminants, such as salts and minerals, it is often considered to be a waste stream that oil and gas producers must appropriately manage and treat before this water can be disposed of. If it is not appropriately managed or treated, the contaminants present in produced water discharged from oil and gas operations may threaten human health and the environment. This book explores the inextricable link between energy production and water with a focus on what is known about the volume and quality of produced water from oil and gas production; what practices are generally used to manage and treat produced water; and how the management of produced water is regulated at the federal level and in selected states.
Her Husband: Ted Hughes and Sylvia Plath--A Marriage
Ted Hughes and Sylvia Plath were husband and wife; they were also two of the most remarkable poets of the twentieth century. In this stunning new account of their marriage, Diane Middlebrook draws on a trove of newly available papers to craft a beautifully written portrait of Hughes as a man, as a poet, and as a husband haunted--and nourished--his entire life by his relationship to Sylvia Plath. Her Husband is a triumph of the biographer's art and an up-close look at a couple who saw each other as the means to becoming who they wanted to be: writers and mythic representations of a whole generation.

Learning From Children Who Read at an Early Age is the result of a three-year research project in which the authors studied a group of children who learnt to read without being taught, from before they started school until the end of Year 2 when they were given their first National Curriculum assessments.Using this study as a framework for examining how children make progress over their time in Key Stage 1 across a range of literacy skills, the authors suggest guidelines which teachers can use to help all children progress with reading.

You may find my stories unbelievable, hilarious, frightening or amusing, but, hopefully, interesting, because these stories are true. I am writing this book hoping it will help people who are grieving for the loss of a loved one, a person or an animal, when they read my ghost stories, which I feel are proof of life after this life. Due to the fact that there are too many negative influences for all of us to deal with, this book may be a helpful tool to enforce some positive influences to counteract the negative ones. Sooner or later we all come to the conclusion that some of the material things we search for in life are a disappointment after we obtain them. I want the readers of my book to understand that I am not telling them how to believe. I am just telling my story as a psychic, what I have found to be true, and it has helped me in so many aspects of my life, such as quit smoking, lose weight, increase income, all through metaphysical principles.
