When a wedding shower turns into a kidnapping, the intent is human trafficking. However, Foley's Folly, the ship on which they are being held is battered by a terrible storm that washes the captain and almost all of the crew overboard. The ten women who were guests at the wedding shower find themselves marooned on an island somewhere in the Atlantic along with the ship's first mate. Their hardships on the island include wild animal scares, lack of food, clothing, shelter and the generally-accepted "necessities of life." They learn that people can manage to be content with a lot less than they think. One of them, however, can't take the strain and commits suicide while one of those frantically searching for them has a nervous breakdown. This is a story of love, dependence, independence, and inter-dependence; learning to work together for the benefit of all and never giving up on hope.
Real Estate Agent Colleen Nelson is accused of torturing and killing her step-mother. To get her acquitted requires the concerted effort of her new attorney friend, Allen Jenkins, plus the hard work of Sergeant Linn Clemmons and the rest of the Hartford, Connecticut police department. Also very much involved is Private Investigator Don Skaggs, one of Jenkins' friends from college years. The discovery of a long-lost twin, a former husband who may not be so former, a half-brother with a grudge, a very crooked attorney, a cop on the take and more murders complicate the story to the very end. Will there be justice for the innocent victim in this twisted story?
BETTER THAN NOTHING Julie Driscoll's entire family dies in a tragic fire so with no family, Julie becomes the problem of Child Services. They put her in an orphan's home who, in turn, places her in a foster home. The teen-age boys who live there terrorize Julie until she runs away. She roams the streets, sleeping in cardboard boxes, begging for food or stealing her way past starvation. Julie finally meets a librarian, Kathy Sterling, who begins teaching her a trade and giving her hope again. But when Kathy disappears everything goes haywire. Her new friends, Simon, Patsy and Zach are there to help. But can they rescue Kathy before it's too late and will Julie ever have another family to love and care for her? Suspense, a few romantic thrills and a bit of inspiration make this novel worth reading.
"This And That" is a compilation of writings of all kinds that I have done in my lifetime. The earliest I have managed to hang on to was written when I was in my late pre-teens, followed by short stories, songs, poems, plays and general observations written at various times since then. Most of them came from events I have witnessed, a few from incidents in my own life and some from pure imagination. These writings have heretofore been scattered in various boxes, files and folders and on the computer. My putting them all together is mostly for my benefit and I don't really expect anyone else to be interested. But, if someone can get a small inspiration, a tiny chuckle or be touched in some way, it would be my greatest pleasure.

Adele Thornton's father walked out of her life when she was five leaving her and her mother, Carol, completely destitute. Carol used the only resource she had to make a living for herself and her daughter: her body. Night after night, Adele watched the parade of men whose 'visits' with her mother put food on the table and paid the rent for their dilapidated one-bedroom apartment with only a sheet hung between her bed and her mother's. Sometimes, one of Carol's men friends would move in for a while and Adele would find it difficult to stay out of the reach of her newest 'uncle'. Then Adele found she had an admirer of her very own; a nineteen-year-old with a motorcycle who, unknown to Adele, was primarily interested in taking away her childhood innocence. She and her mother fought that morning and that afternoon her mother was bludgeoned to death with a hammer. Adele had come home from school and could remember nothing until moments before she was being arrested for murder. The cops told her she did it and after five hours of grilling, she gave up and said she guessed she had. Now, after twenty-seven years in prison, somebody finally believed she was innocent; but could they prove it? And, if they did, would she be able to survive in an adult world she knew nothing about?

Although her first marriage failed, she has three wonderful children as a very positive outcome. They and their offspring are a source of enjoyment and pride. Her second marriage brought the realization of many dreams as well as experiences never even imagined, not the least of which is the completion of twenty-six books. As she reaches her twilight years, she realizes she has very few regrets.
