One of the most prolific, honored, and widely read science fiction writers, Robert Silverberg has forged a professional career that began in the 1950s and has flourished in succeeding decades. From the very beginning, he was perceived as a promising and potentially brilliant author, and he has persisted long enough to win more Hugo and Nebula Awards than any other writer. After first gaining fame for his magazine fiction, he embraced the ideals and methods of literary science fiction in the late 1960s and crafted a number of novels marked by symbolism and irony. After a period of silence in the 1970s, he resumed his career and has attracted growing amounts of critical attention. This book offers a broad study of Silverberg's growth as a writer and illuminates a career that still eludes easy assessment. Chapman not only explores Silverberg's works, but also illuminates the many factors that shaped the evolution of his works. What emerges is a complete picture of Silverberg and his craft. An introductory chapter overviews Silverberg's career and provides some biographical information. The chapters that follow look at various phases in his development. These include an apprenticeship period, a journeyman period, a climactic period of mastery, and a second period of mature work, following a hiatus in the 1970s. Included are discussions of such works as Revolt on Alpha C, Thorns, The Book of Skulls, Shadrach in the Furnace, and Lord Valentine's Castle. The volume gives special attention to the larger literary contexts of Silverberg's writings and to the forces that influenced him.

Algorithmic trading is one of the most phenomenal changes in the nancial industry in the past decade. As one stream of the technology waves that reshaped the landscape of nancial markets, algorithmic trading has two key features: First, fully automated and algorithmicbased trading, while humans behind the scene were responsible for designing the algorithms for automation, they themselves were less involved with the direct trading due to the inferior of human reaction speed compare with the computers. Second, the trading speed has come all the way through from second to microsecond and now reaches nanosecond scale. The statistics showed that the computer based trading has taken over more than 75 percent shares in the U.S stock market and even higher percentage in the derivative market(10).

You want to get in on the ground floor, do you? That is to say you want to build a church from the ground up. No problem. It's doable. But only if you first believe that the impossible and perhaps the improbable is indeed possible. There are no guidelines to tell you step by step on how you go about this mission for the Almighty. If you have a relatively small congregation with no millionaires and frankly no big-income earners, you could find yourself-- no, you will find yourself with challenges that are certain to give you pause. Doubt could double down on your expectations. In that case, are you sure you want to be in on the ground floor? Of course, you might, but how about the people? Can you keep them motivated over whatever time it takes? Can you encourage them to give, give, give? Can you explain why things aren't going faster than they are? Many people are excited by the fact that their congregation which has no church building is going to build one. After all, very few structures that can be afforded are on the market. You know that because you tried. If you tried and failed to buy something already in existence, then what option do you have? If you're excited about having a church, the only option is to build. It might be impossible, but we don't believe that. It might be improbable, but we don't believe that. After all, we believe that all things are possible to those who believe. Belief can take a beating when things just don't go like you wanted them to go. When you made your pitch to the bank and you presented them with number you thought they would fall in love with and they didn't, what then? Surely, they could see that your plan was sound, and that they could depend on your character to pay them back. When you leave the bankers with your head hung down, is there a plan B? Nobody told you about being in existence for ten years before the bank would talk seriously with you. But muttering and complaining just won't do. What are you going to tell the eager congregation who await your good news about building the church? You tell them the truth and keep it moving. God would make a way somehow.
