Kisu Jernström aloitti Suomen suosituimmaksi kohonneessa Topmost-yhtyeessä 14-vuotiaana. Kolme vuotta myöhemmin hänestä tuli Kirkan yhtyeen rumpali. Pian oli aika siirtyä lavalla viisi metriä eteenpäin, kun hän Dannyn suojeluksessa nousi solistiksi. Parikymppinen Kisu alkoi takoa hittejä: Kun paljon antaa, Uneen aikaa vaipuu ja Onnestain on puolet sinun sekä Juustossa löytyy. Hän ehti kiertää tanssilavoja suosikkilaulajana lähes 15 vuotta. Vuonna 1984 alkoi Kisun tuottajan ja säveltäjän ura, jonka monia huikeita käänteitä ei julkisuudessa ole aiemmin kerrottu. Kirkan jättimenestys Kreikassa, Etelä-Afrikassa ja Kaukoidässä oli pitkälti Kisun ansiota. Surun pyyhit silmistäni soi aikoinaan Kiinassa kaikkialla. Muita Kisun "tallin" tähtiä olivat muun muassa Samuli Edelmann, Edu Kettunen ja Vesa-Matti Loiri. Kirjan viimeinen kolmannes keskittyy Inkooseen, jossa Kisu pyörittää Degerby Deliä ja kesäfestivaalia ja toimi kuusi vuotta kunnanhallituksen puheenjohtajana. Mukana on myös Topmost revival (1988- ) ja Back to the Sixties -tapahtumien tunnelmia. Menestysten kääntöpuolelta löytyy yhteensä yli kolme sairaaloissa vietettyä vuotta ja rankkoja verovelkoja, eikä yksityiselämäkään aina auvoista ole ollut. Kirjan kirjoittajan, tietokirjailija Elina Saksalan mielestä Kisun myönteinen elämänasenne, rakkaus musiikkiin ja halu tuottaa kanssaihmisille iloa ovat vieneet miestä eteenpäin vaikeuksista huolimatta.

Elina Brotherus (* 1972 in Helsink) works in photography and moving image. Her work has been alternating between autobiographical and art-historical approaches. Photographs dealing with the human figure and the landscape, the relation of the artist and the model, gave way to images on subjective experiences. Why not? is the artist’s first solo exhibition in a German museum and consists of around forty photographic works and two videos.
