Screen Deep is a book about the immense potential of screen storytelling to defeat an evil both historic and urgently topical: racism. Everyone watches TV and movies. Everyone has an interest in building a more just and equitable world. Screen Deep goes beyond the many film books and anti-racist manuals by demonstrating the connection between these two aspects of modern life. In Screen Deep Ellen E. Jones combines her personal experience as a mixed-race woman who cares about racism with her professional expertise as a film and TV journalist of twenty years standing, to ask - and answer - several questions: Is there such a thing as an Indigenous western? Is race comedy 'cancelled'? Where are all the films for white people? And most importantly: Can you still fight the good fight with a mouthful of popcorn?
'A brilliantly readable and insightful book.' Mark Kermode, Observer'Deftly, delightfully, yet inexorably, Ellen E Jones shows us exactly what's wrong with the world as we usually see it on screen. With her big love of cinema and her very big brain, she's the best film critic in a generation.' Anyone who is "instructed concerning the kingdom of heaven is like a householder who brings out of his treasured things new and old." The Holy Spirit "instructed" the author of this book how to read with new eyes the familiar pages of Isaiah. Portrayed herein, "old things" shine with new light, and many "new things" come to light that we may not heretofore have discerned in the "Gospel Prophet." At least this is the testimony of thousands of modern readers of Ellet J. Waggoner's other writings. They rejoice for this new discovery recently found in the archives. Published originally in England as articles or editorials in the magazine The Present Truth from January 5, 1899 through June 21, 1900.
A series of studies given at the General Conference of 1897 by E. J. Waggoner which were retyped from the 1897 G. C. bulletin. The studies, presented by E. J. Waggoner each day, are just as alive and full of hope for each Bible student today as when they were presented.

Jules Gabriel Verne ( 8 February 1828 - 24 March 1905 ) was a French novelist, poet, and playwright best known for his adventure novels and his profound influence on the literary genre of science fiction. Verne was born to bourgeois parents in the seaport of Nantes, where he was trained to follow in his father's footsteps as a lawyer, but quit the profession early in life to write for magazines and the stage. His collaboration with the publisher Pierre-Jules Hetzel led to the creation of the Voyages extraordinaires, a widely popular series of scrupulously researched adventure novels including Journey to the Center of the Earth (1864), Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea (1870), and Around the World in Eighty Days (1873). Verne is generally considered a major literary author in France and most of Europe, where he has had a wide influence on the literary avant-garde and on surrealism. His reputation is markedly different in Anglophone regions, where he has often been labeled a writer of genre fiction or children's books, largely because of the highly abridged and altered translations in which his novels are often reprinted. Verne has been the second most-translated author in the world since 1979, ranking between Agatha Christie and William Shakespeare. He has sometimes been called the "Father of Science Fiction", a title that has also been given to H. G. Wells and Hugo Gernsback. Ellen Elizabeth Frewer (1848-1940)
