A systematic 1982 presentation of hitherto scattered research on human reactions to five environmental stress factors: noise, heat, air pollution, crowding, and architectural dysfunction. The chapters analyse the concept of psychological stress in terms of its heuristic value in different research paradigms. They show the importance of not only the physical reality but also the individual's perception of it in a diverse array of settings.

Elsa Olsen is a young lady known throughout all of Texas as Ojos El Inciendo, Eyes of Fire. She was given the name by the Chiricahua Apache sub chief Screaming Eagle when she was just 12 years old. He saw a fire in her eyes, a fire that would lead her to become famous across Texas. El would go on to have many encounters with not only the warring Comanches, but outlaws bent on killing her and members of the Box H ranch.
Jen and Cat are two young girls that have the ability to talk to each other through telepathy. They have many adventures as they mature into adults.
When Al Rouse and Charlie Berzinski, fresh from stopping moonshine and cattle rustling crimes, take on a cold case that has laid dormant for more than 40 years, they quickly become involved with sex-trafficking crimes that lead them far from their home base in West Central Wisconsin. Assuming that success was uncertain, the two law officer pals quickly discovered a modern-day angle to what had been assumed to be a kidnapping. The chase led them quickly from their home area to the urban areas of Milwaukee and Chicago, involvements with organized crime, and ultimately to the Caribbean islands and Central American countries. From dealing with the local machine to outrunning the mafia in Panama, Al and Charlie cover thousands of miles trying to find their elusive subject.
