This book covers the works and life of Harry Stack Sullivan (1892–1949), who has been described as "the most original figure in American psychiatry".Challenging Freud’s psychosexual theory, Sullivan founded the interpersonal theory of psychiatry, which emphasizes the role of interpersonal relations, society, and culture as the primary determinants of personality development and psychopathology. This concise and coherent account of Sullivan’s work and life invites the modern audience to rediscover the provocative, ground-breaking ideas embodied in Sullivan’s interpersonal theory and psychotherapy that continue to advance. This revised second edition is updated to reflect new research and ideas - such as an expanded section on Sullivan’s groundbreaking ideas about homosexuality and new sections on his concept of anxiety in infancy and on psychological trauma and how interpersonal theory impacts attachment theory, human sexuality, psychopathology, personality assessment, psychotherapy, and social issues. This book, which has been a primary resource on Sullivan’s works for over 25 years, will continue to be of interest to a range of psychotherapy professionals and practitioners including beginning and experienced psychotherapists, psychological assessment practitioners, interpersonal researchers, and teachers of personality theory.

The 18th century was a wealth of knowledge, exploration and rapidly growing technology and expanding record-keeping made possible by advances in the printing press. In its determination to preserve the century of revolution, Gale initiated a revolution of its own: digitization of epic proportions to preserve these invaluable works in the largest archive of its kind. Now for the first time these high-quality digital copies of original 18th century manuscripts are available in print, making them highly accessible to libraries, undergraduate students, and independent scholars.Western literary study flows out of eighteenth-century works by Alexander Pope, Daniel Defoe, Henry Fielding, Frances Burney, Denis Diderot, Johann Gottfried Herder, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, and others. Excavations carried out prior to the construction of a new fire station in Guildford, Surrey, revealed a well preserved, in situ Late Upper Palaeolithic flint scatter. The site lay on cold climate fluvial sandy gravels deposited in braided stream systems prior to the onset of the Late Glacial (Windermere) interstadial. Typological analysis of the flint and OSL dates suggest that the scatter itself dates from the first half of the Late Glacial (Windermere) interstadial (c 1415KBP). The lithic assemblage is homogeneous and, apart from initial extraction and nodule testing, all stages of flint manufacture are represented. Two main concentrations of knapping are represented, the main focus of which were the production of blade blanks some of which were removed from the site. Functional analysis of the tools suggests relatively short occupation during which hunting, smallscale craft activities linked with the retooling of hunting weapons and the manufacture of hide items, and limited processing of animal and plant materials took place. The assemblage is comparable to that from Wey Manor Farm, Surrey, 17km further downstream, and raises the question of the relationship between the two sites. Both share technological and typological features in common with the Creswellian, though Wey Manor Farm has a greater diversity in lithic point types. Comparison with Continental assemblages suggests that the Surrey sites share affinities with the Older Azilian or equivalents in northwest France and Germany and implies strong postMagdalenian influences in the Late Upper Palaeolithic of Britain.

Modern Christianity is adrift. In numerous congregations, complacency and indifference have become the norm rather than the exception. What is the missing ingredient? A large part of the problem is that we have yet to truly tap into the power of the one another way. Closer Than a Brother provides a practical, modern take on the one another scriptures and the Biblical imperative to disciple. With a writing style that is both compelling and provocative, F. Barton Davis analyzes both the scriptures and common pitfalls that have beset fellowships that have wrestled with these issues, providing unique insight and valuable direction, making Closer Than a Brother a tremendous aid for both personal spiritual enrichment, and as a practical tool for teaching and group work. "Unlocking the secrets of the one another way" is vital to our personal spiritual health and to the growth of the Lord's church. Closer Than a Brother shines a light that cuts through the uncertainty, grabs hold of the scriptures and unveils the secrets of this glorious path. It is time to unlock the power

His Love Is Calling You I grew up a religious kid in a religious family, but religion couldn't help me. It couldn't heal the hurt, bitterness, and rejection that was growing inside me, devouring me from the inside out. It was during my sophomore year at the University of Maryland that God got my attention and showed me a better way, a way built on relationship, not religion. The discipleship principles that I learned then saved my life and changed the entire course of it. What I experienced is exactly what this book, Love Story, strives to pass on to its readers. The approach of Love Story is to use the analogy of the stages of a romantic relationship to transport readers on a journey of discovery that will ignite a personal rapport with the Creator. Love Story can help you fall in love with God for the first time, or for those who have a walk with Him, it is great way to strengthen and/or rekindle the bond that already exists. Read on, embrace the Love Story, and let Jesus transform your mind and soul as you embark on the adventure of true discipleship. It is time to trade in religion for something more.
