This is a fascinating account of the revelations of Our Lady to three children at Fatima. The book describes the Miracle of the Sun on 13th October 1917 which was witnessed by 70,000 people, and it covers the three secrets given, with all the events set in the context of world history. Mary asked for the consecration of Russia, and for the First Five Saturdays devotion to ensure peace, saying that if her requests were not met, then the world would suffer a war worse than World War I. She said that 'a night illumined by an unknown light' would be the sign that this war was imminent, and this spectacle was witnessed on 25th January 1938, just six weeks before Hitler annexed Austria. The book covers the assassination attempt on John Paul II, the release of the third secret 83 years after it had been revealed, and the road to sainthood of the seers. The message of Fatima was not just for 1917, and the book shows just how relevant it is in our time.
Fatima. Few place-names in the Christian world conjure up such powerful images and associations as that of this humble town in Portugal. For it was there that Our Lady appeared to three shepherd children beginning in 1917--apparitions that are intimately linked to pious Catholic practices such as devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, the five first Saturdays, daily recitation of the Rosary with the Fatima prayer, as well as miracles attested to even by non-believers, such as the "day the sun danced." The Virgin's message, as it always is, was penance. But she also predicted world historical events such as the rise and fall of communism, the second world war, and the attempted assassination of Pope St. John Paul II. She promised refuge in her Immaculate Heart to all who approach her--a promise extended, and urgently needed, today. This beautifully illustrated volume will be treasured by long-time devotees of our Blessed Mother under the title of Our Lady of Fatima, as well as those, both Catholic and non-Catholic alike, who seek to learn more about the dramatic events related to the apparition that have unfolded over the course of the last century. In Fatima: The Apparition That Changed the World, noted Catholic author and Blue Army member Jean M. Heimann traces the history of the apparitions at Cova da Iria and, assisted by over fifty full-color illustrations, guides the reader through the hundred years since the Mother of God appeared to three little children in a small town in Portugal.
Lady Fatima lived during the most crucial years of Muslim history. She was raised by her father during the era in which his early community of followers faced persistent persecution before migration. Fatima would marry the champion of the Muslims, Ali ibn Abi Talib, at the peak of Islam's rise during the Prophet's lifetime. From that marriage would come the Prophet's descendants - Hasan and Husayn - a lineage that has survived to the present day. This historical narrative is written with the hopes of captivating the reader to learn about Lady Fatima's life and the attributes of her legendary personality. She was giving, selfless, and far beyond her years. She was the "Mother of her Father." How a small girl could care for her father, physically tending to his wounds and emotionally cradling him in her little arms - while he was the greatest man to walk God's earth - is fathomable only because she was... Fatima. Fatima witnessed her father's death that inevitably came with a new era of power in the newly founded Muslim nation - the Caliphate. After an attack on her own home in the Caliphate's struggle to quell any opposition to its new reign, Fatima would die only a few short months after her father the Prophet. Death tells us a lot about life. Wisdom dictates that we do not ignore it. Tales of death should not be swept under the rug, especially the deaths of history's most notable figures. Lady Fatima is indeed on top of that list. Regardless of what the reader does with this story after reading it, at the very least, reflect on it. Embrace Fatima - the Flower of Life - and allow her the chance to open your eyes to the universe with-in you. Let her story be your guide as you journey toward the Heavens.
