Gamal Abdel Nasser arguably has had the greatest impact of any Middle Eastern leader of the twentieth century. His significance lies in his fostering of modern Pan-Arab thought, institutions, and policies, his transformation of Egypt from a feudal state under British protection to a developing industrial nation, and his contributions to third world politics. Despite his importance, however, the last thorough examination of Nasser's life and impact was published more than twenty years ago. Faysal Mikdadi's volume helps to draw together the writing on Nasser and to re-examine the origins of his thinking and the impact of his writings and policies. After a capsule biography of Nasser and a detailed chronology, the volume is divided into chapters covering specific aspects of Nasser's life. Each chapter contains explanatory notes and a full bibliography. In addition to citing works in English, Arabic, and French, Mikdadi has included works from other major languages as well. Each bibliographical citation is accompanied by a brief summary note. The volume concludes with comprehensive author, periodical, and subject indexes. This work will be invaluable for scholars and students concerned with twentieth-century Middle Eastern Studies.

The bibliography, which comprises the bulk of the book, provides a comprehensive guide to works on Thatcher's life and career. Entries are annotated except when a title is self-explanatory. Coverage is devoted primarily to English-language materials. The book includes full indexes. The book will be an important aide for all scholars, researchers, and students concerned with British politics.

These are poems and paintings which reflect the poet's struggle to make order out of chaos. For years, Mikdadi has struggled for peace between Israelis and Palestinians. At different junctures in his life, his despair at the intransigence of both sides and at the sheer cruelty of what Palestinians have had to endure, led him to write poetry and, occasionally, to paint in watercolours. These are some of the poems and paintings that he produced during his life. They speak for themselves. Maeve Binchy felt that Faysal Mikdadi's passion makes his poetry impossible to ignore. This is a black and white version of the colour book also published by Lulu. It has been printed because the colour version, being printed entirely in colour, was deemed a trifle expensive. This black and white version allows readers to afford a copy. The colour version has also been published as an e-book.

Set in Aleppo in 2012, when everyday life was metronomically punctuated by bombing, Roundabout of Death offers powerful witness to the violence that obliterated the ancient city's rich layers of history, its neighborhoods and medieval and Ottoman landmarks. The novel is told from the perspective of an ordinary man, a schoolteacher of Arabic for whom even daily errands become life-threatening tasks. He experiences the wide-scale destruction wrought upon the monumental Syrian metropolis as it became the stage for a vicious struggle between warring powers. Death hovers ever closer while the teacher roams Aleppo's streets and byways, minutely observing the perils of urban life in an uncanny twist on Baudelaire's fl neur. Navigating roadblocks and dodging sniper bullets on visits to his mother and sister in the rebel-held eastern sector of the city, the teacher clings to normality with a ritual of coffee with friends, conversation casually permeated by news of the latest fatal blasts. The novel, a literary edifice erected as an unflinching response to the erasure of a once great city, speaks eloquently of the fragmentation of human existence and the calamities of war.
