Originally published in June 1931, "Ferm n Gal n, Political Biography" corresponded to the enormous popularity of Ferm n Gal n, a legendary figure after having led the Jaca uprising, and whose unjust execution, along with that of his companion ngel Garc a Hern ndez, moved the national conscience and contributed, a few months later, to the Proclamation of the Republic.Despite its momentary significance, the book, its protagonist and the author-narrators, Joaqu n Arder us and Jos D az Fern ndez were marginalized during the decades of the Franco dictatorship, up to the point of becoming forgotten.Hence, the relevance of the current publication of the Biography with its two wings of the genre, the historical and the novel, written by two accomplished narrators, who were considered standard bearers of an Advanced Literature, which emerged in Spain in the second half of the 1920s, a dialectical overcoming of the avant-garde and confronted with the so-called dehumanization of art.The book, introduced as a testimony of a new generation of 1930, covers the years 1924-1930, of Ferm n Gal n's political activity, in which the "Political Biography" focuses, grouped in a series of chronotopes in which its history took place: Morocco Madrid, Montjuich Prison Castle, Barcelona, Jaca and province. This edition, with a profuse Introduction and footnotes that complete the dense historical, cultural and social material, has been prepared by the renowned Spaanish Literature critic, V ctor Fuentes, professor emeritus at the University of California, Santa Barbara.
Philippe Fermin (1730-1813) was born in a Huguenot family in Berlin, where he attended the French gymnasium. He apprenticed as a surgeon in Suffolk, England and took the "sea exam" in Amsterdam. He became a ship surgeon and sailed to Paramaribo, Suriname, where he stayed for seven years. He obtained his MD from the University of Aberdeen (1758). He became interested in medical and natural history observations in Suriname, about which he wrote seven books after settling in Maastricht, the Netherlands. He eventually became a member of the bench of aldermen in that city and, in the French era, deputy judge. This book is based largely on correspondence with Fermin's teacher in Berlin, perpetual secretary of the Royal Prussian Academy of Sciences Samuel Formey (1711-1797), Fermin’s seven books and archival material. The book aims to paint a picture of that period from Fermin's perspective. Some of the aspects covered in the book include his surgical training in Berlin, Suffolk, and Amsterdam, life in Suriname, slavery, the decline of this Dutch colony, the collection of curiosities in so-called cabinets, the Republic of Letters, the scientific societies of the time, and the experiments he conducted in Suriname, which sometimes provoked fierce criticism.

I was kidnapped. I don't even remember how old I was maybe I was in 5th or 6th grade. Thrown together with a kid, Reznor, the same age as mine and his mood stuck on mad, and two young sisters, Melody and Skye. We lived in a shady motel in a small town with lots of pine trees. We just existed together in days that ran into each other. Until one day we stumbled onto a dead girl. She was Mother's previous 'daughter' before us. From that day on we grew to be a family all to protect our little sisters from being one of Mother's dolls. To my surprise my little sisters were not the damsels in distress. It was a good thing because we all needed to work together to get out alive or at least to get the girls out.
