Esta investigaci n hispano-italiana posee tres aspectos diferentes: la labor etnomusicol gica, el estudio de las conexiones con los Evangelios Ap crifos y la pr ctica del canto coral, constatando sus m ltiples aspectos saludables. En la labor etnomusicol gica, hemos recuperado y reconstruido piezas musicales del patrimonio popular devocional siciliano, en particular, de la ciudad de lcamo. Algunas de ellas estaban cayendo en el olvido. Gracias a esta labor nuestra, las hemos vuelto a difundir, cant ndolas en agrupaciones corales. En segundo lugar, las conexiones de estas canciones religiosas con los Evangelios Ap crifos; pues las letras de las cantinelas hunden sus ra ces en los Evangelios Ap crifos. En ambos aspectos, la herencia proveniente de Espa a y de las tradiciones espa olas est siempre presente. El tercer aspecto es el propiamente educativo y psicol gico, al constatar de manera cient fica, -bas ndonos en un muestreo muy amplio de coristas participantes de toda la isla de Sicilia-, los grandes beneficios para la salud que proporciona el canto coral.

Se estudia la influencia de la corrosi n en las propiedades de la aleaci n de aluminio A6060 T5, seg n el tiempo de exposici n en atm sfera salina. Se emplearon probetas de tracci n tras un proceso acelerado de corrosi n, con tiempos de exposici n desde 200 a 1000 horas, obteni ndose valores de dureza, resistencia, l mite de fluencia, elongaci n y estricci n. Se efectu un dise o experimental para evaluar la incidencia de la salinidad y temperatura sobre las propiedades mec nicas. Mediante t cnicas de microscop a se corrobora la existencia de defectos en la superficie de fractura, en condiciones de tensi n tras corrosi n. Empleando m todos gravim tricos y electroqu micos se determina el comportamiento de la corrosi n ante ensayos clim ticos acelerados. Se obtienen gr ficos de velocidad de corrosi n y de propiedades mec nicas en funci n del tiempo de exposici n en atm sfera salina. Los resultados evidencian la influencia del tiempo de exposici n al ambiente corrosivo en la plasticidad del material.

A multidisciplinary examination of the role of military forts in the Caribbean during the age of European colonial expansionA Fortified Sea illuminates the key role of military forts in the greater Caribbean during the long eighteenth century. The historical Caribbean, with its multiple contested boundaries at the periphery of European western expansion, typically has been analyzed as part of an empire. European powers, including Spain, the Netherlands, England, and Denmark, carved up the Caribbean Sea into a cultural patchwork. These varied cultural contexts were especially evident during regional and national conflicts throughout the eighteenth century and prompted the construction of more fortifications to protect imperial interests. The emergence of Anglo-American colonies during the eighteenth century and later the United States gradually altered previous geopolitical balances, redefining the cultural and geopolitical boundaries of the region. This collection of essays incorporates several historiographical traditions—from Spanish to American—all portraying the borderland as a breakthrough contested cultural, social, economic, and military boundary. A multinational roster of contributors approaches topics through a war studies lens as well as architecturally and historically, enriching a usually monothematic view. As well, discussion of cultural management of the historical remains of forts shows local communities trying to preserve and interpret the role of forts in society. Part I defines the training of military engineers in Spain. Part II engages with British defensive military plans and settlements in the Caribbean and shows how the British dealt with the rhetorical image of the empire. Part III clarifies the building processes of fortifications in Santiago de Cuba, Cartagena de Indias, Havana, and Veracruz, among other places. Copious period maps complement the prodigious research. The book will appeal to readers interested in the history of the Caribbean, military history, and European imperial expansion.

Artificial Intelligence is a huge breakthrough technology that is changing our world. It requires some degrees of technical skills to be developed and understood, so in this book we are going to first of all define AI and categorize it with a non-technical language. This book deals with artificial intelligence (AI) and its several applications. It is not an organic text that should be read from the first page onwards, but rather a collection of articles that can be read at will (or at need). The idea of this work is indeed to provide some food for thoughts on how AI is impacting few verticals (insurance and financial services), affecting horizontal and technical applications (speech recognition and blockchain), and changing organizational structures (introducing new figures or dealing with ethical issues). The structure of the chapter is very similar, so I hope the reader won’t find difficulties in establishing comparisons or understanding the differences between specific problems AI is being used for. The first chapter of the book is indeed showing the potential and the achievements of new AI techniques in the speech recognition domain, touching upon the topics of bots and conversational interfaces. The second and thirds chapter tackle instead verticals that are historically data-intensive but not data-driven, i.e., the financial sector and the insurance one. The following part of the book is the more technical one (and probably the most innovative), because looks at AI and its intersection with another exponential technology, namely the blockchain. Finally, the last chapters are instead more operative, because they concern new figures to be hired regardless of the organization or the sector, and ethical and moral issues related to the creation and implementation of new type of algorithms.
