Author Frank Perez has collected essays on a wide variety of topics in LGBTQ+ history and arranged them into multiple sections. Café Lafitte in Exile tells the story of queer New Orleans through the lens of its most legendary gay bar. The bar has held a central place in New Orleans's queer scene for many years, with a profuse mythology entwining its history. Café Lafitte in Exile endeavors to set the record straight. The story begins long before the founding of gay bars, with an exploration of Indigenous sexual and gender roles, colonial views on queerness, and the notable gay writers, musicians, and activists of nineteenth-century New Orleans. Queer men played a crucial role in the preservation of the French Quarter in the early twentieth century, and the resulting "French Quarter Renaissance" deeply informed the establishment of Café Lafitte. In 1953, in an era of aggressive anti-gay crackdowns, Café Lafitte moved to its present location. Later, in the midst of the burgeoning gay liberation movement in the 1970s, the bar was sold to Tom Wood, under whose ownership it has sometimes failed to live up to its potential as a diverse, inclusive gathering place. Still, the bar has remained a crucial locus of queer New Orleans culture through the HIV/AIDS crisis and into the present era of more widespread acceptance. Drawing on oral histories and newspaper accounts, as well as personal recollections, Café Lafitte in Exile is a vivid portrait of Café Lafitte and the queer community that sustains it. El 11 de septiembre de 1997, durante el transcurso del d a, la p gina de Internet reservada para otorgar un Tributo a Frank Sinatra, patrocinada por John Sauvageaus Omega, consigui nada menos que 10.000 visitantes, un r cord a n no superado por ning n otro artista mundial. Este dato deja bien claro que Sinatra, incluso enfermo, envejecido y reposando sobre una cama de un hospital, era capaz de mover los sentimientos de miles de personas de todo el mundo. Tristemente, yo nunca he entrevistado a Frank Sinatra y solamente pude verle en directo durante el concierto que dio en Madrid en el Santiago Bernab u, aunque aqu l d a no consegu entradas de pista y tuve que observarle desde casi cien metros de distancia, en una grada situada en lo m s alto del estadio y desde donde apenas si lograba verle. Afortunadamente, su m sica llegaba con facilidad. Siempre he mantenido un gran respeto por l y aunque a lo largo de su vida ha recibido multitud de homenajes (recuerdo especialmente el "Feliz cumplea os, Franky" en su 80 aniversario), estimo que esta idea de poner una p gina en Internet es el mejor de todos los homenajes, ya que al menos pueden participar directamente todos sus admiradores mundiales y no reservarlo solamente para los norteamericanos. Que una persona, p blica o privada, haya podido cometer a lo largo de su vida alg n desatino, no es motivo para sacarlo en las portadas de una revista. Por eso era imprescindible la elaboraci n de una biograf a sobre Frank Sinatra que fuera real y que de una manera digna contase a sus admiradores y a los que a n ir n llegando, c mo era uno de los m s grandes mitos del cine y la m sica. No espere el lector, por tanto, ning n desacato hacia l o su familia, y en su lugar encontrar respeto para alguien que ya est en la historia del arte con letras may sculas. Pregunte a cualquier fan, hombre o mujer, y nadie se referir a l como el hombre de los ojos azules que enamora a las mujeres. Hablar n siempre del Se or Sinatra, y esto es especialmente aleccionador cuando el nombre lo emplea un joven que acaba de descubrir casi por casualidad que existe un cantante norteamericano que tiene una forma de cantar nica, que traspasa los gustos de la edad y puede seguir llegando al coraz n de millones de personas. Cuando su hija Nancy Sinatra se enter de la p gina Web de Internet dedicada a darle un nuevo tributo mundial coment "Este tributo es como una madre dando a luz y veo que todav a hay miles de personas que le aman. He hecho llegar la noticia a Frank, el cual est sumamente conmovido por este homenaje tan espont neo y multitudinario que le han hecho. Con el objetivo de evaluar la influencia del FitoM as-E en condiciones edafoclim ticas propias de la regi n del municiopio de Amancio, Provincia de Las Tunas, en dos variedades del cultivo del man (Arachis hypogaea L.) en reas de secano, se desarroll esta investigaci n, sobre un suelo Pardo Ocr co con Carbonato, los resultados arrojados fueron muy alentadores en diferentes par metros agroproductivos de los cultivares. Se realizaron diversas aplicaciones del producto a los 15 d as despu s de la germinaci n en las diferentes parcelas experimentales de forma foliar utilizando una mochila, para lo cual se utilizaron diferentes dosis 1.0, 1.5 y2.0 L.ha-1 (0.08, 0.11 y 0.15 litros por mochilas aplicadas), Las dosis de mejores respuestas con el Fitom s-E en todos los experimentos realizados fueron con la dosis de 1,5 hasta2,0 L.ha-1, en la variedad colorada.
