Resurrection Promises: Sermons, Worship Resources, and Group Discussion Questions for the Easter Season
Jesus' resurrection is a time for setting earthquakes shaking in the soul. The seven excellent Easter messages in this book will help to make that happen in your congregation. Leonard Budd and Roger Talbott have combined well-crafted stories, most of them imaginative fiction pieces, with solid exposition of texts from Old and New Testaments. These messages will provide preaching resources for the entire Easter season. Two additional resources expand the usefulness of this volume: - Prayers and readings for each Sunday follow each message. - There are study/discussion questions for an adult forum group which can assemble following worship, or in the week following, to discuss the message. Each set of questions is preceded by "group-builder" get-acquainted and growth exercises. Leonard H. Budd is pastor of Lakewood United Methodist church in a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio. Roger G. Talbott is a United Methodist pastor in North Madison, Ohio.

This book introduces social scientists to the ideas of George Herbert Mead (1863-1931) - one of the most original yet neglected thinkers of early twentieth century sociology.Mead is an exceptional case amongst sociological classics in that, until now, there has been no comprehensive reader of his work. As the first one-volume, comprehensive edited collection of Mead’s published and unpublished writing, this book fills this gap. It is the first to critically assess all of Mead's writings and draw out the aspects that are central to his system of thought. The book is divided into three parts (social psychology, science and epistemology, and democratic politics), comprising a total of 30 chapters - a third of which are published here for the first time.G.H. Mead: A Reader provides a unique and timely contribution to the understanding of this key theorist. It is essential reading for both undergraduate and postgraduate students in the fields of sociology, social psychology, philosophy of social science, social and cultural anthropology, and social and political theory.

G. H. Mead is rightly considered to be one of sociology's founding fathers, yet to date there have been surprisingly few books devoted to his life and work. This book fills the gap by introducing Mead's ideas to a younger generation of social scientists. Beginning with a biographical account of the main events in Mead's career, Filipe Carreira da Silva provides a thorough examination of Mead's social theory of the self, the reception of his ideas into sociology, and the relevance of his work to the contemporary social sciences. He focuses in detail on the core ideas associated with Mead's work, including gesture and the significant symbol, the I-me distinction and the 'generalized other', as well as exploring less well-known aspects of his writing. This comprehensive introduction to Mead's thinking will appeal to students across the social sciences, providing a refreshing perspective on the social nature of the individual self.

This unique contemporary account of Haig's GHQ gives a vivid insight into life in Montreuil-sur-Mer from 1916 onwards, and of the complexity of the planning the ultimate defeat of the German Army. The addition of the never generally published statistical summary of casualties, ammunition and supplies adds to the appreciation of Haig's achievement. "This remarkable book details what life was like in my Grandfather Haig's GHQ as the final defeat of the German Army was planned. Haig's farsightedness in promoting Education was a precursor of his dedication to the welfare of soldiers after the War. Its republication, together with statistics -never previously seen- are an index of the enormity of the task that he orchestrated." The Rt Hon Lord Astor of Hever Former Defence Minister. "Montreuil-sur-Mer was surprised to find itself at the heart of the British Army military machine between 1916 and 1919. Frank Fox's vivid contemporaneous account as a Staff Officer at GHQ describes the exceptional period during which this medieval town became the nerve centre of the Anglo-Saxon world." The Antiquity and Duration of the World. By G.H. Toulmin, M.D
The 18th century was a wealth of knowledge, exploration and rapidly growing technology and expanding record-keeping made possible by advances in the printing press. In its determination to preserve the century of revolution, Gale initiated a revolution of its own: digitization of epic proportions to preserve these invaluable works in the largest archive of its kind. Now for the first time these high-quality digital copies of original 18th century manuscripts are available in print, making them highly accessible to libraries, undergraduate students, and independent scholars.Medical theory and practice of the 1700s developed rapidly, as is evidenced by the extensive collection, which includes descriptions of diseases, their conditions, and treatments. Books on science and technology, agriculture, military technology, natural philosophy, even cookbooks, are all contained here.++++The below data was compiled from various identification fields in the bibliographic record of this title. A controversial day-to-day account, by Haig's Chief of Intelligence, at the British Expeditionary Force General Headquarters throughout the war on the Western Front. Charteris had not kept a diary at the time, so 'At GHQ' consists of papers, notes and letters from the time, rewritten into diary form. He confessed to sometimes amplifying from memory but by and large the reconstructed 'diary' is consistent with records which he kept at the time, e.g. his entry for the First Day of the Somme which he states was "not an attempt to win the war at a blow", and that "weeks of hard fighting" lay ahead. This is an important and interesting work containing much interesting material and revealing gossip.

One of Elena Ferrante's Top 40 Books by Women G.H., a well-to-do Rio sculptress, enters the room of her maid, which is as clear and white 'as in an insane asylum from which dangerous objects have been removed'. There she sees a cockroach - black, dusty, prehistoric - crawling out of the wardrobe and, panicking, slams the door on it. Her irresistible fascination with the dying insect provokes a spiritual crisis, in which she questions her place in the universe and her very identity, propelling her towards an act of shocking transgression. Clarice Lispector's spare, deeply disturbing yet luminous novel transforms language into something otherworldly, and is one of her most unsettling and compelling works. Clarice Lispector was a Brazilian novelist and short story writer. Her innovation in fiction brought her international renown. References to her literary work pervade the music and literature of Brazil and Latin America. She was born in the Ukraine in 1920, but in the aftermath of World War I and the Russian Civil War, the family fled to Romania and eventually sailed to Brazil. She published her first novel, Near to the Wildheart in 1943 when she was just twenty-three, and the next year was awarded the Graça Aranha Prize for the best first novel. Many felt she had given Brazillian literature a unique voice in the larger context of Portuguese literature. After living variously in Italy, the UK, Switzerland and the US, in 1959, Lispector with her children returned to Brazil where she wrote her most influential novels including The Passion According to G.H. She died in 1977, shortly after the publication of her final novel, The Hour of the Star.

This book gives Christians and none-Christians an opportunity to realise that there is spiritual war against their lives by the enemy of their souls called Satan. The battle is called spiritual war, fought with spiritual weapons in the spiritual realm. The reason why it is called spiritual war is that it is fought in the spirit, the unseen spiritual world also called the supernatural world. The world we are born in, live in and die in, is not a safer place as we think. This book is an opportunity for Christians and non-Christians to change their thinking and a chance to change their lives forever about the problems they go through in their lives. This is a piece of good news indeed and now is the time for you to gain back your freedom through it. The book is also a wakeup call for people who have not experience Satanic attacks at present, yet they are most likely to experience one in the future, of which they must act now to avoid it. Majority of Christians and non-Christians alike lived in denial, that Satan does not exist, and only the small number of them acknowledged he exists, but they underestimate his power and his intention against their lives. The bible leaves no room for doubt that we are at war with Satan, it even refers to Christians as soldiers with weapons to fight the war. This war is being fought over your body, soul, spirit, vision and mission, family, finances, properties, businesses and so forth. Satan attacks the above-mentioned areas of your life through sickness, stress, suicide, anxiety, starvation, poverty, joblessness, wars, hatred, racism, greed, corruption, divorce, sexual immorality and so forth. Little is known about all these forms of human sufferings, yet people experienced them and lived with them. But I come to tell you in this book that all these attacks are from Satan, and they can be stopped, if you can stand up and fight for your freedom against Satan, through your God-given weapons. The book gives Christians an opportunity to use their spiritual weapons given to them by God to fight and win the war against their lives. These weapons of spiritual warfare are; the name and blood of Jesus Christ, prayer, faith, truth, salvation, fasting, peace, righteousness, and confession and repentance of sins. With these weapons in their hands, they are positioned to restore back what Satan has already stolen from them or what he may try to steal, kill, and destroy from them in the future.David Wel is a Church Warden, Secretary, Administrator, Teacher, Author, and the host of DW Spiritual Care International Online Discussion Program. He is the author of two books: Fighting the Invisible Enemy and Human Being as Tripartite; Body, Soul and Spirt. He is passionate to bring hope to hopeless people through the word of God. But there is even more to this as he lately discovered that God as our creator has a plan for us. We were created by God with great potentials within us and it is his determination to help you discover your God-given gift within you. For you to increase your productivity, he will help you unlock your potential within you by bringing resources, information, faith, knowledge, wisdom and understanding for you to live and enjoy the life you were born to live here on earth.
