Questo volume analizza il concetto di fisioterapia come "prendersi cura" includendo le nozioni teorico pratiche alla base della disciplina fisioterapica nonché l'evoluzione e le possibili modalità di trattamento dei disturbi riguardanti la postura seduta. Dopo aver presentato il processo di maturazione e sviluppo della scienza riabilitativa che ha permesso di passare dal concetto della “cura del difetto” alla nuova mentalità del “prendersi cura”, si analizzano le basi metodologiche su cui si costruisce il programma riabilitativo e l'esercizio fisioterapico: dalla diagnosi di difetto e compenso alla definizione del problema principale, dall’individuazione degli obiettivi di trattamento alla costruzione di una seduta fisioterapica. Nella seconda parte viene presentata un’analisi della postura seduta nel bambino sano riguardante lo sviluppo, i meccanismi neurofisiologici e gli aspetti biomeccanici ad esse sottese.
