for SATB and brass ensemble or full orchestra Gloria was written in 1974 in response to a commission from The Voices of Mel Olson, a choir based in the USA. The division of the work into three movements â respectively proclamatory, prayerful, and joyfully affirmative â corresponds to the divisions in the text. Most of the melodic material derives from a Gregorian chant associated with this text. An accompaniment for orchestra without organ is also available. Full scores, vocal scores, and instrumental parts are available on hire. The first movement of Gloria is available separately under the title Gloria 1.

for SSA soli, SATB and chamber orchestra The memorable tunes and infectious optimism of Vivaldi's Gloria have made it one of the most popular choral works in the repertoire. For this edition, the distinguished Vivaldi scholar Paul Everett has returned to the autograph manuscript as the most authoritative source. Both full and vocal scores make clear distinction between original and editorial markings, and information on performance practice is relevant without being prescriptive. The vocal score includes an orchestral reduction for rehearsal purposes, and the full score is supplemented by a comprehensive critical commentary and continuo realization. It also includes a unique transcription of Ruggieri's 'Cum Sancto Spiritu', on which Vivaldi based his own setting. Complete orchestral material and vocal scores are available on hire/rental, and full and vocal scores are also available on sale.

for SATB and piano, or brass quintet, timpani, and organ Chilcott's four-movement setting of the Latin Gloria will be welcomed by choirs looking for an uplifting and jubilant concert work. The driving 'Gloria in excelsis Deo' features syncopated rhythms and an upper-voice semi-chorus part in the 'Et in terra pax' section, which can be taken from the main choir. The tender yet majestic 'Domine Deus' leads into the lyrical 'Qui tollis peccata mundi', with interweaving melodic lines that express the solemnity of the text. Finally, the dancing 'Quonium tu solus sanctus' keeps singers on their toes with its upbeat tempo and lively cross-rhythms, culminating in exultant 'Amen's for a suitably exhilarating ending.

for SATB and organ or brass, timpani, and organ This jubilant single-movement setting of the Latin Gloria by celebrated organist Simon Johnson has something for everyone. Scored for SATB choir with brass ensemble, organ, and timpani (or organ alone), the work is highly original and packed with content, including recurring rhythmic and melodic motifs, harmonic twists, a peaceful central section, and a four-part fugue. Johnson's choral writing is clean and concise, and more experienced singers will find the vocal lines approachable and enjoyable. The instrumental ensemble/organ part is integral to the work, featuring short interludes, driving rhythms, and melodic and textural interest, as well as providing support to the voices where necessary. This exciting work holds its own among more established Gloria settings and will stand the test of time.

Kerry Young's heartfelt, sparky and affecting debut novel is a chronicle of multicultural Jamaica, both in its cultural richness and in its strife and tensions' - Guardian'A pacy but absorbing saga of domestic struggle and gangland manoeuvring set against the violent backdrop of postwar Jamaican politics' - Independent on Sunday_______________From the author of the Costa and Commonwealth Prize-shortlisted PaoJamaica, 1938. Gloria Campbell is sixteen years old when a single violent act changes her life forever. She and her younger sister flee their hometown to forge a new life in Kingston. As all around them the city convulses with political change, Gloria’s desperation and striking beauty lead her to Sybil and Beryl, and a house of ill-repute where she meets Yang Pao, a Kingston racketeer whose destiny becomes irresistibly bound with her own. Sybil kindles in Gloria a fire of social justice which will propel her to Cuba and a personal and political awakening that she must reconcile with the realities of her life, her love of Jamaica and a past that is never far behind her.
