Expressionism blev ett centralt slagord när konstens mål och medel radikalt omförhandlades i början på 1900-talet, och vi talar gärna än i dag om expressionistisk bildkonst, lyrik och dramatik. Men expressionistisk prosa - vad skulle det vara? I denna studie lyfter Gunilla Hermansson frågan genom att visa vilka föreställningar om expressionismen och framtidens litteratur som sju nordiska författare skrev fram i dagskritik och program och hur dessa föreställningar bearbetades i den skönlitterära prosan. Författarna är Anna Lenah Elgström, Pär Lagerkvist, Emil Bønnelycke, Tom Kristensen, Hagar Olsson, Elmer Diktonius och Sigurd Hoel. I deras fiktionsprosa från åren mellan 1910 och 1930 sammantvinnas intermediala fantasier, brutalitet och könsroller, krig och revolution, stilisering och abstraktion, patos och skrik, agitation och engagemang, utopi och frälsningsmodeller, nationalism och internationalism. Prosaverken visar en djupare ambivalens gentemot de avantgardistiska estetikerna och projekten än vad programmen och recensionerna avslöjar. Prosan som skrevs i expressionismens tidevarv visar sig därmed utgöra en fruktbar ingång för att nyansera bilden av den tidiga nordiska modernismen och av dess bidrag till förhandlingen av avantgardets topografi. Gunilla Hermansson är docent i litteraturvetenskap vid Göteborgs universitet och har tidigare bl.a. publicerat "Lyksalighedens øer: Møder mellem poesi, religion og erotik i dansk og svensk romantik" (Makadam 2010).

Guldbrakteaterna producerades framför allt i södra Skandinavien med senantika romerska medaljoner och mynt som utgångspunkt. Till skillnad från förebilderna är de präglade bara på en sida. Guldet som användes vid tillverkningen kom från romarriket som ett resultat av dess både krigitska och fredliga kontakter med de germanska stammarna norr och öster om limes, den befästa gränsen genom Europa. Brakteaterna tillkomm under en ganska kort period, ca. 450-550 e.Kr. således under den tid som såg det västromerska riket falla i spillror. I boken belyses hur några romerska motiv bearbetas. De germanska konstnärerna var främmande för den klassiska konstens plastiska, rumsliga framställning. De behandlade de motiv de övertagit från romarna som stiliserade ytfigurationer och utvecklade dem i dynamik, expressiv riktining.

I november 2021 fyller Rinkeby femtio år. Stadsdelen är omskriven och omdebatterad ända sedan den byggdes men hittills saknar den en skriven historia. Gunilla Lundgren har skrivit böcker och gjort filmer, flerspråkiga häften och utställningar tillsammans med barn och unga i Rinkeby ända sedan stadsdelen började byggas i slutet av 1960-talet. Nu har hon sökt upp både nyinflyttade Rinkebybor och barn och unga som hon samarbetat med tidigare. Deras texter och bilder har hon sammanställt till en bok lika komplex och mångsidig som stadsdelen. Rinkeby: Världens torg i 50 år innehåller bidrag från barn, unga, fritidsledare, föräldrar, restaurangarbetare liksom från Rinkebybor som blivit skådespelare, författare och fotbollsspelare; texter och bilder av bland andra Özz Nûjen, Alexandra Pascalidou och Martin Mutumba finns med. Sammanlagt finns här texter på 20 språk. Tillsammans är detta en unik och berörande skildring av en stadsdel i ständig förvandling. Ur innehållet: Rinkeby Torg, tunnelbanan, Rinkebys träd, biblioteket, Rinkebys tidiga historia, Folkets Hus, affärer och cafeér, Nobel i Rinkeby.Ända sedan 1980-talet har Nobelpristagare i litteratur kommit till Rinkeby bibliotek för att träffa stadsdelens unga och motta ett häfte, skrivet och tecknat av de unga.Gunilla Lundgren är författare. Tillsammans med Rinkebyborna har hon utgivit ett trettiotal böcker. Hon fick 2019 Expressens Heffaklumpspris och Stockholms stads Katarina Taikonpris. Hon erhöll 2020 Kungl. Sällskapet Pro Patrias guldmedalj för medborgerliga förtjänster i 12:e storleken. Samtidigt nominerades hon till ALMA-priset, Litteraturpriset till Astrid Lindgrens minne.
