The theoretical study of titanium dioxide nanotubes used a methodology for creating nanotube models from the unit cells of TiO2 crystals (rutile and anatase) in specific planes, in this case anatase in the (101) plane and rutile in the (110) plane. The structures generated were subjected to quantum mechanics calculations using semiempirical methods (PM7) and ab-initio DFT and HF methods, in the 6-31G and 6-311G bases. Models were created and it was found that the most stable structures were those with the largest diameters. A comparison between models with the same number of atoms showed that anatase nanotubes were more stable than rutile nanotubes. When evaluating the gap using semi-empirical and HF methods, the anatase nanotubes were classified as insulating due to the gap range between 6.00 eV and 10.00 eV, while the DFT values showed values between 2.00 eV and 2.50 eV. The methodology developed showed high potential for application in the simulation of TiO2 nanotubes.

This book offers a selection of representative texts which should enable readers to perceive the whole breadth and depth of Gutierrez's challenge to late twentieth-century Christians.
Gustavo Gutiérrez and the Liberative Sight of Christ
How can we speak of God as Father in a world that is inhumane? While many engagements with Gutiérrez's theology centre on such themes as the option for the poor, the role of praxis, or the Kingdom of God, in Gustavo Gutiérrez and the Liberative Sight of Christ Luke Foster explores the underlying theological convictions and commitments within which these concepts cohere. By developing an analysis that is attentive to the unity and coherence of Gutiérrez's thought, Foster resources a critique that is distinctive not only in its pertinence but also in the possibilities that it opens for the development of his project in the future. Innovatively offering a systemic account of Gutiérrez's theology, this book offers both an indispensable overview for those who are engaging with Gutiérrez for the first time and a distinctive analysis for those who are seeking to deepen their understanding of his work.

This volume concentrates on the key texts and ideas in Gustavo Gutierrez's thought. It presents the essential Gutierrez for students and the general reader. In his first anthology of Gutierrez's massively influential work, James Nickoloff draws from Gutierrez's many published books and translates some pieces for the first time. Arranged both thematically and chronologically, the Selected Texts highlight not only the revolutionary import of Gutierrez's theology but also his deep and searching spirituality, his bold view of the church, and his personal challenge to the reader to engage the world's injustices directly. Nickoloff's expert Introduction explains the development of Gutierrez's ideas and sheds new light on the Latin American, especially Peruvian, context of his thought.

In his reflections on decolonization and post-development, Gustavo Esteva forged a unique synthesis of critical theory and political economy. This book presents more than half a century of "reflection in action" in the form of essays, books, and interventions in national and international forums and newspaper articles—most published here for the very first time. It showcases Esteva’s evolving thought on economic theory, social change, revolutionary subjectivity, transition, development, the challenges of a new era and personal and communal autonomy, all associated with the challenges and advances in the construction of a new society. Through this translation, Esteva’s writings engage with many of the important cultural and political debates of the present day and retain their power both to provoke and move the reader. Readers will see a thinker at work, formulating local, grassroots alternatives as they are emerging in Mexico and Latin America, with a keen sensibility to what happens in other regions of the world. Gustavo Esteva: A Critique of Development and Other Essays offers a lucid insight into the climatic and sociopolitical collapses we face and will be of interest to students and scholars of critical theory, post-colonial and de-colonial studies, and post-development studies.
