Neste ambiente de pobreza e gente humilde que se desenrola a narrativa deste texto. Na hist ria, um romance, acontecem duas mortes e um nascimento. O p blico-alvo talvez seja aquele que se interesse pelos problemas sociais, mas dificilmente quem vive esta realidade, at porque estas pessoas pobres n o t m cultura suficiente para despertar o interesse por livros ou mesmo condi es financeiras para tal. A tem tica religiosa marcada pelo candombl sobressai na narrativa, e provavelmente interesse a esp ritas e seguidores de religi es de origem afro ou mesmo a estudiosos do assunto. Simples como uma cartilha, o texto n o deixa de ser engra ado em diversos pontos; mas tamb m arrepia os cabelos em outros, quando descreve a matan a dos gatos e o assassinato do porteiro pelo pescador contratado. Muito criativa foi a ideia de pensar na cruz e nas ponteiras de ouro nela encravadas, cada uma significando uma vida. Assim, ao longo da narrativa criou-se certo suspense culminando com o desprendimento da ltima ponteira, aquela que representaria a morte de Guaracy como de fato ocorreu.
