Among the numerous applications of soybean, its use as a source of soybean peroxidase is of particular interest in the area of bioremediation. Peroxidases are oxidoreductase enzymes with a wide variety of substrate specificity, that catalyse, in the presence of hydrogen peroxide, the oxidative polymerisation of different pollutants widely found in industrial effluents. These pollutants can be highly toxic for both human beings and the environment and they must be removed from wastewater before they are discharged into the environment. The use of enzymes is presented as an alternative method for the industrial wastewater treatment when conventional physical, chemical and biological methods such as adsorption in carbon active, chemical oxidation and micro-organism treatment may be ineffective. This book discusses the various advantages of soybeans as a source for the biotreatment of hazardous effluents.

The already broad range of applications of ring theory has been enhanced in the eighties by the increasing interest in algebraic structures of considerable complexity, the so-called class of quantum groups. One of the fundamental properties of quantum groups is that they are modelled by associative coordinate rings possessing a canonical basis, which allows for the use of algorithmic structures based on Groebner bases to study them. This book develops these methods in a self-contained way, concentrating on an in-depth study of the notion of a vast class of non-commutative rings (encompassing most quantum groups), the so-called Poincaré-Birkhoff-Witt rings. We include algorithms which treat essential aspects like ideals and (bi)modules, the calculation of homological dimension and of the Gelfand-Kirillov dimension, the Hilbert-Samuel polynomial, primality tests for prime ideals, etc.

Sacrifice is a necessary step towards greatness, and the universe always seeks balance. At exactly: one minute pass midnight, into April Fool s day, Jean Moreau s life changed for the better and for the worse... For at the very second her son was born; half way across town, the love of her life was being murdered. Now forces beyond this reality, and far beyond the scope of good or evil, are witnessing the last stages of a game that has taken Eons to play out... and before her family, and love ones can ever be safe, Jean will have to travel through the darkest mazes of Hell to wage war against madness itself. Interlocking with historical moments and crossing territories, boundaries, and even dimension, this first part of the Grand Puzzle amuses and bewitches even the most jaded of readers. Horror, suspense, romance, adventure and fantasy collide in a perfect Molotov cocktail of images and emotions. Spanning time and space, and breaking the boundaries of traditional storytelling, "Little Dark Girl" is at both a frightening and beautiful first novel by L.J Gomez... a book that makes us wish for more, from this weird and, often, nasty new author.

Richard Paxton hates Buenos Aires, Argentina: he absolutely loathes the swampy, reaches down your throat with a hot red coal weather, the extravagant amount pseudo-intellectuals and weird, "over the top", media celebs, the balmy atmosphere of morose sorrow and truly ghastly ghost stories, and, above all, he simply can't stand the band of roaming fanatical vampires. In 72 hours the world is about to end. The heralds of a pan-dimensional God are about to unleash a storm of biblical proportions and, century after century, they have always been victorious. Doom and mayhem are about to descend on Buenos Aires. The fate of the planet lies in the hands of Rick and his new C.I.A. partner/babysitter, and self proclaimed 'functional sociopath', Dorian Graig. With the help of a ragtag team of oddballs, these two unlikely partners will wage war against the true inspiration for every undead myth on the planet and its murderous lover, the immortal samurai: Lady ManJaku. They will need to unravel a mystery that began in the 14th century, with the uprising of the Black Plague, continued with the detonation of Krakatau and was responsible for a failed Cold War mission to the Ural Mountains. The clock isn't ticking: it's on fire and hungrily engulfing everything in sight.

This report reviews recent evidence on U.S.-based social and emotional learning (SEL) interventions for K-12 students to better inform the use of these interventions under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). The authors discuss the opportunities for supporting SEL under ESSA, the standards of evidence under ESSA, and SEL interventions that meet the standards of evidence and might be eligible for federal funds through ESSA.

This is a detailed and pedagogical exposition of the effective Lagrangian techniques and their applications to high-energy physics. It covers the main theoretical ideas and describes how to use them in different fields, such as chiral perturbation theory and the symmetry breaking sector of the standard model and even low-energy quantum gravity. The book is written in the language of modern quantum field theory. Some of the theoretical topics treated are: decoupling; the Goldstone theorem; the non-linear model; anomalies; the Wess-Zumino-Witten term; and the equivalence theorem.

J.L. Moreno and the Psychodramatic Method
Beginning with a discussion of the intrinsic nature of psychodrama and providing the reader with a thorough description of the psychodramatic method, this book navigates the nature, applications, theories, and practices of the techniques originated by J. L. Moreno. The book covers the work of the psychodrama pioneer in the field of mental health and discourse on his techniques. Methods of handling situations and scenarios that frequently arise in psychodrama sessions are described and amply illustrated with examples from actual psychodramas. The existential philosophy upon which psychodrama is founded, Moreno’s Doctrine of Spontaneity-Creativity, and the theories important to understanding psychodrama are all discussed. The final chapter is devoted to the life and work of J. L. Moreno. This book will be of great interest to psychodramatists, drama therapists, psychotherapists, and other mental health professionals who use the psychodramatic method in counseling and training programs.
