Return on Investment (ROI) remains one of the most challenging and intriguing issues facing human resource development and performance improvement professionals. Drawing on their expertise in developing and implementing ROI programs in human performance and training, Jack J. Phillips, Ph.D., Timothy W. Bothell and G. Lynn Snead demonstrate how you can effectively apply ROI to project management. Today, almost every industry requires employees to manage multiple projects with competing priorities, critical deadlines, and unexpected interruptions—rendering everyone a project manager in some respect. Most employees feel the pressure of juggling any number of key projects simultaneously. Organizations have responded by investing large amounts of both time and money to improve project management, and most strive to justify the efforts and resources dedicated to improving this goal. 'The Project Management Scorecard' is a welcome relief for anyone managing a project or multiple projects, as well as the trainers, human resource development staff, or supervisors charged with measuring, evaluating, and managing project managers. Project Management is one of the hottest topics in business management today, affecting nearly every individual in any organization across the globe. Let three HRD experts show you how to apply the hugely popular ROI process to the key organizational issue of successful project management including: * Project management issues and challenges * Measuring reaction and satisfaction * How to calculate and interpret ROI * Capturing business impact data * Measuring skill and knowledge changes during the project * Monitoring the true costs of the project solution * Converting business measure to monetary values * Forecasting ROI The authors' step-by-step approach allows you to begin the ROI process immediately. The guest of Quesnay. By: Booth Tarkington, illustrated By: W. J. Duncan: Walter Jack Duncan (1881-1941) was a war artist for the United States
Newton Booth Tarkington (July 29, 1869 - May 19, 1946) was an American novelist and dramatist best known for his novels The Magnificent Ambersons and Alice Adams. He is one of only three novelists to win the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction more than once, along with William Faulkner and John Updike. Biography: Booth Tarkington was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, the son of John S. Tarkington and Elizabeth Booth Tarkington. He was named after his maternal uncle Newton Booth, then the governor of California. He was also related to Chicago Mayor James Hutchinson Woodworth through Woodworth's wife Almyra Booth Woodworth. Tarkington first attended Shortridge High School in Indianapolis, but completed his secondary education at Phillips Exeter Academy, a boarding school on the East Coast. He attended Purdue University for two years, where he was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity and the university's Morley Eating Club. He later made substantial donations to Purdue for building an all-men's residence hall, which the university named Tarkington Hall in his honor. Purdue awarded him an honorary doctorate... Walter Jack Duncan (1881-1941) was a war artist for the United States Army during World War I.He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana. His family included a number of prominent actors, and upon graduation from high school, he -- along with a writer-artist friend, Robert Cortes Holliday -- moved to New York city to study at the Art Students' League under the prominent landscape artist John H. Twachtman. After three years at the League, Duncan began his long career of magazine illustration with Century Magazine. Some of his other magazine credits include Scribner's, McClure's Magazine, and Harper's. His varied illustration assignments before the war had given him the opportunity to travel abroad to Canada and England. He also spent time in the backwoods of Kentucky drawing the descendants of Daniel Boone in their natural habitat. Like William James Aylward's, much of Duncan's wartime effort focused on the support activities of the AEF. He traveled from the ports to the battlefield producing detailed works that recorded some of the less glamorous but essential aspects of modern warfare. Much of his work reflects the influence of his studying under a landscape artist. Duncan's favorite medium was pen and ink, and he especially liked producing illustrations for books. His work in that medium earned him the accolade of "wizard of pen and ink" from contemporary artists. During his career he became associated with a number of writers, working closely with them to illustrate their books. After the war he illustrated a number of Christopher Morley's books, including Plum Pudding and Pipefuls.... Ovid Butler Jameson Birthdate: July 17, 1854 (60) Birthplace: Indianapolis, Marion, Indiana, United States Death: Died January 15, 1915 in Crown Hill, Marion, Indiana, United States Immediate Family: Son of Patrick Henry Jameson and Maria Butler Husband of Maria Jameson and Haute Mary Booth Jameson Father of John Tarkington Jameson; Donald Ovid Butler Jameson and Booth Tarkington Jameson Brother of Anna Maria Jameson; Mary Sanders Jameson and Cordelia Cole Caldwell...

Originally published in 1976, this volume begins with a theoretical overview of the major trends in the community psychology movement at the time, as well as a perspective on how the field was developing. The emphasis is on the utility of combining a preventative community-centered orientation with an applied behavioral-analytic focus. The authors take general theoretical notions and demonstrate how they can be turned to concrete methods of dealing with specific practical problems that occur in implementing a ‘real-life’ program of community oriented intervention. The authors present an innovative model for developing a low cost and effective delivery system for mental health services in public schools. They describe the actual development and implementation of such a system in the school, and also include a comprehensive evaluative scheme for determining the efficacy of this type of endeavor. The actual behavior change strategies that are employed can be used effectively by teaching personnel or psychologists on either a large or small scale. A final unique feature of the volume is the inclusion of a program that will assist teachers and mental health professionals in helping elementary school students learn social problem-solving skills.

When social workers draw on experience, theory, or data in order to develop new strategies or enhance existing ones, they are conducting intervention research. This relatively new field involves program design, implementation, and evaluation and requires a theory-based, systematic approach. Intervention Research presents such a framework. The five-step strategy described in this brief but thorough book ushers the reader from an idea's germination through the process of writing a treatment manual, assessing program efficacy and effectiveness, and disseminating findings. Rich with examples drawn from child welfare, school-based prevention, medicine, and juvenile justice, Intervention Research relates each step of the process to current social work practice. It also explains how to adapt interventions for new contexts, and provides extensive examples of intervention research in fields such as child welfare, school-based prevention, medicine, and juvenile justice, and offers insights about changes and challenges in the field. This innovative pocket guide will serve as a solid reference for those already in the field, as well as help the next generation of social workers develop skills to contribute to the evolving field of intervention research.

The Fishes of the Western North Atlantic series, which began publication in the 1940s by Yale University’s Sears Foundation for Marine Research, was from its beginnings conceived to synthesize and make accessible the wealth of information in widely scattered published accounts of the fish fauna of the region for both the layman and the specialist, presenting critical reviews rather than compilations. These reference works are still considered valuable and of interest today to both general audiences and the academic community. As described in the Preface to the first volume, the series was “written on the premise that it should be useful to those in many walks of life—to those casually … interested …, to the sportsman …, to the fisherman …, as well as to the amateur ichthyologist and the professional scientist.” These books remain authoritative studies of the anadromous, estuarine, and marine fishes of the waters of the western North Atlantic from Hudson Bay southward to the Amazon, ranking as primary references for both amateurs and professionals interested in fishes, and as significant working tools for students of the sea.

All your dreams can come true if you have the courage to pursue them. Walt DisneyNo Recipe For Success would be complete without a list of ingredients, the preparation instructions, and time and temperature for cooking. Some of the main ingredients would include: knowledge, passion, planning and perseverance. Other additives could include money and mentoring for consistency, body and texture. If you are tempted to add in a tablespoon of luck, you may want to replace the luck with a cupful of action, because in reality, your recipe can never be completed without action, and no one can rely on luck to succeed. After assembling the raw materials, the next part of the preparation is to devise the correct way to blend and cook them. By now, you will have a picture (plan) in your mind of what the outcome should look and taste like. After some trial-and-error, you may want some advice to help you bring the 'product' to completion. As with all plans, some work out easily, while others don't. So perhaps some cooking advice from a master chef or mentoring by an expert would make the entire process easier. The Celebrity Experts(R) in this book are mentors who can help you assemble your recipe. These authors have not only produced their own Recipe For Success, but have gained a wealth of experience from doing so. They can help you avoid many difficulties they have encountered on their own journey. With their mentoring, you can ensure that your time and resources are maximized, and you can complete your own Recipe For Success all the faster. It is literally true that you can succeed best and quickest by helping others to succeed.
