Educated under duress in England, Tripoli Libya, Scotland and Kenya. He joined the army in 1962 and became a civilian again in 1977. Having tried to make a fresh start, he finally settled for and thoroughly enjoyed his time as a self-employed window cleaner and member of The National Federation of Master Window Cleaners. Now retired, he lives in North East Lincolnshire.

James Connor tells Kepler's story as a pilgrimage, a spiritual journey into the modern world through war and disease and terrible injustice, a journey reflected in the evolution of Kepler's geometrical model of the cosmos into a musical model, harmony into greater harmony. The leitmotif of the witch trial adds a third dimension to Kepler's biography by setting his personal life within his own times. The acts of this trial, including Kepler's letters and the accounts of the witnesses, although published in their original German dialects, had never before been translated into English. Echoing some of Dava Sobel's work for Galileo's Daughter, Connor has translated the witch trial documents into English. With a great respect for the history of these times and the life of this man, Connor's accessible story illuminates the life of Kepler, the man of science, but also Kepler, a man of uncommon faith and vision.

Acquisition data and information are the foundation for decisionmaking, management, and oversight of weapon-system acquisition programs. The authors review 21 key acquisition data information systems, their origins and uses, and how acquisition data might be improved. They also summarize background on acquisition data; review commercial practices in data management; and offer findings and recommendations to improve quality, access, and use.
This monograph deals with the application of the method of the extremal metric to the theory of univalent functions. Apart from an introductory chapter in which a brief survey of the development of this theory is given there is therefore no attempt to follow up other methods of treatment. Nevertheless such is the power of the present method that it is possible to include the great majority of known results on univalent functions. It should be mentioned also that the discussion of the method of the extremal metric is directed toward its application to univalent functions, there being no space to present its numerous other applications, particularly to questions of quasiconformal mapping. Also it should be said that there has been no attempt to provide an exhaustive biblio graphy, reference normally being confined to those sources actually quoted in the text. The central theme of our work is the General Coefficient Theorem which contains as special cases a great many of the known results on univalent functions. In a final chapter we give also a number of appli cations of the method of symmetrization. At the time of writing of this monograph the author has been re ceiving support from the National Science Foundation for which he wishes to express his gratitude. His thanks are due also to Sister BARBARA ANN Foos for the use of notes taken at the author's lectures in Geo metric Function Theory at the University of Notre Dame in 1955-1956.
