When Siena Madison announces that she will spend an entire week of her highly rated daytime television show revealing the history of her family-and all its secrets-she begins to doubt the wisdom of having allowed her beloved grandmother, Savanna, to convince her to do it. Savanna had grown up in the shadow of the Connor mansion where her mother had served as the housekeeper and cook and her father had been the overseer of the large poultry ranch in East Texas. The summer Loran Connor came home from his freshman year away at college, he saw a different girl than the little black companion he had grown up with. By summer's end, the young people were in love; and the night before Loran's return to college, they gave each other that physical gift that can only be given once. When circumstances make it impossible for Savanna to remain in the only home she has ever known, she is forced to make a life for herself that produces great success and wealth. In a chance encounter, Savanna and Loran are brought together, and she is free at last to reveal her long-kept secret. A love that endured through years of absence is rekindled, and lives are changed as they learn to look at the hearts of people rather than the color of skin.

White Stones, Bones, and Mist: Authentic Movement and Living Prayer
White Stones, Bones, and Mist, by Jan Sandman, describes the practice and process of Authentic Movement. The form and practice of this healing modality accesses the intrinsic wisdom of the body and fosters deep trust in its innate knowing, which often predates conscious memory. This awareness is collective and universal as well as personal, connected as we all are in an invisible golden web. Often, as human beings, we have to cut through massive amounts of conditioning to access and trust what is inherent and essential within us. Once that inner trust develops that depth, one can begin to live from that place. There is an inherent order of "rightness" that becomes clear through the practice of Authentic Movement. Many doubts then can rest, while inner knowing gracefully leads. Life takes on the quality of flow and knowing. Authentic Movement is an embodiment practice developed by Mary Starks Whitehouse. It has roots in Jungian principles of the collective unconscious and dance movement therapy. This book relates the personal journey of Jan Sandman with this form of practice. She has been teaching this form for decades, expanding the basics of Authentic Movement to include elements intrinsic to her special interests, including the vibration of color, universal awareness, and a prayerful intention that moves and extends the process, resonating infinitely. She discusses how one might connect with this most essential part of oneself, to trust it and to allow it the space and authority to leads one's life authentically and simply. White Stones, Bones, and Mist would be of practical interest for anyone interested in the connection between mind, body and spirit for support in developing a more authentic and intuitive way of living. Anyone who is engaged in embodiment practices of any kind, in consciousness and spiritual development would find themselves in these pages. The book is both detailed in its description of the form and expansive in an outward sweep of what happens when the intelligence and consciousness of the body is given a real place at the table. The book is part photographic essay using beautiful images taken during an actual movement session to ground the description and explanation of the nuances of the form.
