Greed Gone Good: A Roadmap to Creating Social and Financial Value brings the how-tos of impact finance to a broad- based audience of investors, from the individual to the institutional. Written in an engaging, jargon-free style and loaded with practical advice, it explores the pitfalls and potential of the burgeoning impact revolution—the increasingly widespread belief that business and financial leaders should weigh social value as well as financial value in all of their decisions, to create both a better business model and a better world. Cheerleaders have written a number of books advocating the magic of impact finance. Greed Gone Good hopes for the magic too, but also believes that an uncritical eye does not effectively advance the cause. We now have 10 years of impact investing history to examine, and not all of it is laudable. We could hold hands and sing Kumbaya in praise of impact finance; or we could employ constructive criticism to figure out what’s gone well and what hasn’t, and how we should move forward more productively. Greed Gone Good focuses on the roadmap—how to reorient and repackage finance and investing in order to deliver on this promise. In particular, it focuses on how to realize the potential of the impact revolution to become a silver bullet against future failures. Green Gone Good will have widespread appeal to investors ranging from individuals and family offices to the world’s largest asset managers and investors.

Why am I so afraid of death? How would my life be enhanced if that fear dissolved? An Insistence on Life grew out of such questions, as well as the personal accounts of death shared with author Jane Hughes Gignoux. By showing us ways to face death with understanding and grace, this remarkable book offers an exciting and inspirational model for embracing life. A valuable companion to the increasingly popular discussions on the many issues surrounding death and dying, An Insistence will lead readers on a surprisingly uplifting journey into this delicate topic beyond traditional comfort zones. The collection of poignant stories presents alternative approaches to accepting the end of life. Follow a family surrounding their elderly patriarch in his final months, finding all past estrangements erased as love becomes the only medium of exchange. Experience the joy and deep gratitude shared by a group holding sacred "going home" vigils. Discover the common threads woven throughout the stories as you encounter authentic moments of people who generously share the lessons they've learned about releasing fear and the transformation that ensues. "Life is essentially a matter of storytelling," says Ms. Gignoux. "We can't always control the events of our lives but we can choose how we interpret them. When we simply allow life's journey to flow, exploring death and dying when it comes into view, our fears dissolve, enabling a deeper and expanded freedom to live."

Prayer is a strange thing. Simple yet profound. How does it work? We don't know. But God hears and loves us to talk to Him and to sit in His presence. Even in the darkness of night, when all the world seems to rest but you, there is a cry from the heart to a listening and understanding Father.GASP is a fervent and arresting response to a fast-changing world, the joy of creation and connection, and the goodness found in people. The poems ask pertinent and hard questions about life, relationships, suffering and inequality. Some of these questions are answered, while others remain mysterious, complex and concerning...

Supporting People with Dementia at Home details a groundbreaking study of an intensive care management scheme designed for older people with dementia that are at risk of entry into residential care. The authors use a quasi-experimental approach to compare how the individuals on the mental health team in one community were matched to a similar community without the service. They analyze the evidence focusing on the eventual placement of the individual suffering, the quality of care they receive, and also the needs of their carers. This book offers valuable evidence about the factors which can maximize the independence and well being of older people with dementia, from the perspective of older people and their carers. For those who commission services, it is highly relevant to service models for the National Dementia Strategy in England.

The ability for people to connect, learn, and communicate about science has been enhanced through the Internet, specifically through social media platforms. Facebook and Twitter are well-studied, while Instagram is understudied. This Element provides insight into using Instagram as a science education platform by pioneering a set of calculated metrics, using a paleontology-focused account as a case study. Framed by the theory of affinity spaces, the authors conducted year-long analyses of 455 posts and 139 stories that were created as part of an informal science learning project. They found that team activity updates and posts outside of their other categories perform better than their defined categories. For Instagram stories, the data show that fewer slides per story hold viewers' attention longer, and stories using the poll tool garnered the most interaction. This Element provides a baseline to assess the success of Instagram content for science communicators and natural science institutions.

A lifetime dreaming about a visit to Antarctica and South America was to be realised in 2020. After 18 months of planning the anticipation and excitement levels were high as tourists entered the aircraft for Argentina, both were relaxed and looking forward to what lay ahead. Five days into the trip and one day before entering the boat for the Antarctica adventure it all suddenly changed. Travel restrictions and border closes began in response to the World Health Organisation's declaration that COVID-19 was a world pandemic. A time of uncertainty and confusion faced decision makers. Understandingly countries were looking after themselves and their citizens, tourists concerns relegated in importance. The race was on to escape from the isolation of Ushuaia on the Southern tip of South America to a main international airport and then back to Australia. In this book Jane N. Hughes provides a personal insight into experiences she and her husband faced as fleeing tourist in this unusual situation.
