Is there a void in your heart? Do you feel like your wandering in a desert and you feel dry, parched and thirsty? Do you have a thirst and hunger so deep your not sure where your next drink or meal will come from? Hard Soil it is the condition of the heart without a source of living water. Jesus had an encounter with a woman at the well. He asks the Samaritan woman for a drink of water and her response would forever change her life. In the biblical account of John 4 we read, A woman came to draw water. Jesus said to her, "Give Me a drink." John 4:7. She responds to him as if to say why are you speaking to a woman like me besides we don't share meals and drinking vessels together. Jesus replies, "If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, 'Give Me a drink, ' you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water." She says, "Sir, you have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep Where then do You get that living water?" Jesus explains anyone who continues to come to a deep well will have to continue to draw water to quench their thirst, "but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life." John 4:14. She finally demands to Jesus in John 4:15, "Sir, give me this water, that I may not thirst, nor come here to draw." Jesus tests her asking to call her husband and He reveals how much He knows about her past failures and hurts with no condemnation. She recognizess him as someone special. Jesus finally reveals to her who He is the promised Messiah bringing salvation to all. He says, "But the hour is coming, and now is when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth." Hard Soil reveals the message as the Samaritan woman says emphatically, "Come, see a Man who told me all things that I ever did. Could this be the Christ?" By the Saviors grace seen in the Samaria woman this biblical account illustrates how apparent or concealed prejudices, beliefs, practices, and exposures need not bind or destroy the potential of a person. This unnamed woman in her time became a great evangelistic influence for Samaritans responding to Jesus as Messiah and beyond. The same is true today, Hard Soil describes a life changing revelation brought on by a woman which brings spiritual insight that propelled another dimension of truth modeled by how true revelation may translate into a powerful witness. This powerful witness brings truth to set a person free, which is designed to unite the end time church the body of Christ. It is a reminder to all, the hour is coming and He is drawing all worshipers together in a unified front to advance His end time army. With this truth revealed, Will you be one of His "Good Soldiers"
Drawing on interviews conducted throughout New York City, Black feminist criminologist Janet Garcia-Hallett shares the traditionally silenced voices of formerly incarcerated mothers of color and exposes the difficult realities they face when reentering the community and navigating motherhood. Patriarchy, misogyny, and systemic racism marginalize and criminalize these mothers, pushing them into the grasp of penal control and forcing them to live in a state of disempowerment and hypersurveillance after imprisonment. Armed with critical insight, Invisible Mothers demonstrates the paradox of visibility: social institutions treat mothers of color as invisible by restricting them from equal opportunities, and simultaneously as hypervisible by penalizing them for the ways they survive their marginalization. This thoughtful book reveals and contests their marginalization and highlights how mothers of color perform motherwork on their own terms.
