When evidence of microscopic life on Europa-Jupiter's sixth moon-is discovered, a crew of astronauts and scientists embark on a mission to discover its source. Led by oceanographer and biologist, Kathy Connelly, the crew is charged with the task of melting through miles of ice to the hidden ocean beneath, where the search for alien microorganisms begins. But a startling discovery awaits them on the surface of Europa-life.Vast fields of red, plant-like organisms fill the cracks crisscrossing the moon's surface, surviving on nutrients welling up from the waters below. Encouraged by the discovery of life on the surface, Connelly and her crew activate the Thermal Exploratory System and melt through the ice toward a world that does not want to be found, toward an intelligence that will do anything to make sure they never leave.BENEATH takes all of the action, thrills, imagination and strange creatures that Jeremy Robinson is known for and puts them in the most extreme environment imaginable: the surface, and sub-ice ocean of a moon four hundred million miles away from Earth.ORIGINS EDITION: This revised, expanded and re-edited edition of Beneath is superior to all that came before. ANDR GIDE FICTION AND FERVOUR By Jeremy Robinson Andr Gide (1869-1951) is a writer's writer, a sophisticated modern artist who progressed from French Symbolism to international postmodernism. Andr Gide is a mass of contradictions, paradoxes and tensions of all kinds. He is puritanical but pagan - an ascetic who adores sensuality - an atheist who yearns for God - a homosexual who all his life loved his wife, Madeleine Rondeaux - he strived for objectivity while remaining one of the most introspective of writers - he needed the rainy domesticity of Normandy and the sun-baked wildness of North Africa - despite his prolific output he produced only one novel (in his sense of the term) - he is very much a part of the modern European tradition (of Fyodor Dostoievsky, Friedrich Nietzsche, Rainer Maria Rilke, Gustave Flaubert, Arthur Rimbaud and St phane Mallarm ), while also standing outside it all, unclassifiable. The book concentrates on the texts Fruits of the Earth, The Immoralist, and the Journals, and aspects of Gide's work such as art, religion, philosophy, love and identity. This new edition has been completely updated. Includes illustrations featuring Gide, bibliography and notes. Paperback.

PETRARCH, DANTE AND THE TROUBADOURSTHE RELIGION OF LOVE AND POETRY By Jeremy Mark Robinson An exploration of two of the great Italian poets, Dante Alighieri and Francesco Petrarch, and their relation to the troubadour poets and the courtly love tradition of the Middle Ages. Francesco Petrarch (Francesco Petrarca, 1304-1374) is the supreme poet of love in the Western tradition, alongside poets such as Sappho and William Shakespeare. Francesco Petrarch is also the Renaissance artist and humanist par excellence. Petrarchism is termed the longest poetic tradition in the Occident, and Petrarch has influenced poets such as Maurice Sc ve, Sir Thomas Wyatt, Torquato Tasso, Edmund Spenser, Michael Drayton, Joachim Du Bellay, Pierre de Ronsard, Rainer Maria Rilke and Robert Graves, among hundreds of others. Dante Alighieri composed his own cycle of love poems, the New Life (Vita Nuova), about his meeting with Beatrice Portinari. The Vita Nuova or New Life draws on (and is part of) the dolce stil novo, the 'sweet style' of Italian poets such as Guido Cavalcanti, Guido Guinicelli, Cino da Pistoia and other stilnovisti. Dante was an admirer of love poetry (he praised Arnaut Daniel in the Divina Commedia). Includes a timeline of Francesco Petrarch, an extensive bibliography, and a gallery of pictures. 236 pages. www.crmoon.com
