Captain John Browning was born about 1588 in England, and died about 1662. He allegedly married about the year 1614. Children were George and William in addition to accounts of other children including a Thomas. Sometime around the year 1621, he and his family left England for Virginia where his descendants supposedly established a line of descendants that could be found throughout America. His ancestors go back hundreds of years, primarily in the counties of Gloucestershire and Dorset in England. The interesting thing about him is that there is more speculation and less known about him than of many people in history. This Second Edition is much enlarged and its index contains full names of thousands persons other than Browning as well as subject names. The endnotes reference many of the sources. The Gloucestershire Berkeley family had a large influence on Browning's both in England and Virginia and this work should be viewed as a theory of family history or historical fiction (sometimes hysterical fiction). It is sad that thousands of genealogical records are based on bad information. It is hoped that any citations of this work be done with the proper caveats. Appendixes E and F provides summaries of Captain John's ancestors and descendants from 1255 to 1681 which may or may not prove to be true with improved DNA data and testing. The book also looks at Brown and Browne names for linkages in times where few Browning records were available in Virginia. It uncovered more Browning locations in some Virginia locations where matching Brown and Browne families lived. Since so little is known about Captain John Browning's private life, a fictional account of his activities is presented in the book "Captain John: From England to Virginia." There is also a fictional account of the private lives of his descendants in the books "Francis', "Caleb", "William T.", and "Jeb."

Technology, the Economy, and Jobs: A Historical Perspective: Regional Economic Development and Forces Influencing Change
This book concentrates on the role of technology and economic theory in government policy in promoting economic development and jobs. A conceptual framework was developed to organize and explore linkages between theory and policy. The elements making up the framework include "technological change", "economic theories", "forces influencing change", and "policy decisions". These framework elements were researched in the regions of Northern England and Scotland to see how the role of technology, in the process of economic change was articulated in the policy process of those regions to deal with structural change and job loss. The book also contains a bibliography, a comprehensive index, and endnote references.

Updated April 6, 2016. This story begins with a man and his family about the year 1000 BC somewhere in the southwest of Eurasia. His primary occupation is feeding and taking care of his animals and family. He, his parents, and descendants are part of a tribe of nomads that have been on the move, living off the land, season following season, for as long as anyone in the tribe can remember. Over many ages the characters migrate into Anatolia, to Europe where they assimilate with Celtic cousins, then to Britain and finally to America. As the nomads experience migration problems, history is brought into the story to give the reader a better sense of the nomads travails. This book, "The Nomads", is the beginning of a series of short stories that helps to explain the evolution of the European Ancestors of many families that migrated to England and then America. The book is a fictional account of migrating characters that is based on the non-fiction books "European Ancestors: Their DNA, Archaeological, Historical, and Linguistic Evidence" that is published in full color and a less expensive version in tones of grey. There are a total of six short stories that are also consolidated into two books of three volumes each titled "Anatolia to Britain" and "America's Frontier." The next title following "The Nomads", in Volume 2 of the series, is "The Anglos: Their Pleasures and Travails."

This story is about two young adults, Jan the girl and Rog the boy, who lived in the 5th century AD. Their homes were in the low-lands of Germany near today's lower border with Denmark. It is where they grew up and lived for many years. They each belonged to one of the Germanic tribes who lived in the low-land country near the Baltic Sea. Jan was from an Anglo tribe and Rog from a Saxon tribe. Jan's tribe was formerly known as Cimmerians, Cimbri, and later both tribes were known as Celts and Teutons. Jan and Rog were childhood friends who drifted away from each other as they began to enter adulthood. Eventually, as they went onto education and employment, they lost contact with each other due to the poor communication that existed in the 5th century AD. At one point in time, they came back together without Rog recognizing that Jan was a former childhood friend even though when he asked, she gave him the same name. After an agonizing time of re-acquaintance, especially for Jan, they were able to rekindle their friendship, but a number of problems emerged: First, they had a misunderstanding about their relationship which drove them back apart; and secondly, their tribe, the Anglos, were planning to move to Britain with the Saxon tribes. Needless to say any move, especially across the water to Britain, would make communication and reconciliation much more difficult. The Anglos ended up migrating to Britain with the Saxons where some members of the tribe became part of the king's retinue in Northumbria and later near Gloucester in today's England where they have many descendant to this day. This book, "The Anglos", is the second volume of a series of short stories that helps to explain the evolution of the European Ancestors of many families that migrated to England and then America. There are a total of six short stories that are also consolidated into two books of three volumes each titled "Anatolia to Britain" and "America's Frontier." The next title, in Volume 3 of the series, is titled "Southwest England: Life and Times 1390 - 1430 AD."

Caleb was born in Northern Virginia in the mid-18th century. He lost his innocence when he put his skills to work as a soldier in the Virginia Militia of the Revolutionary Army. He settled in Kentucky with his wife Alcy and family, working a farm as the partner of his old friend from the army, Captain Taliaferro. He finds himself in the middle of an allegiance between those who support Taliaferro and those who support the neighboring Harrison family. Kentucky was one of three counties that still belonged to Virginia. In Kentucky, most people are either backing the Harrisons or are remaining silent. But the danger from outside Taliaferro's camp is nothing compared to the threat within, as Caleb begins to suspect that Taliaferro's woman might not be everything she appears to be. Now Caleb is discovering that he must go to war again. But will it be with the Harrisons, or with his closest friend? Caleb is a descendant of the main character in the non-fiction books "Captain John Browning" that is available in both color and shades of grey. Updated 4 April 2016. This book contains three short stories. 1) The Nomads: Their Migration Experiences; 2) The Anglos: Their Pleasures and Travails; and 3) Southwest England: Life and Times 1390 to 1430 AD. These short stories may be found as stand alone volumes but they are combined here since they represent a migration of characters across Europe's frontiers. Since this work is historical fiction, the author thought it was best to keep the facts straight however, there is embellishment about some of the people with regard to the characters. The source for a lot of the material in the book comes from the historical, non-fiction works titled "Ancient European Ancestors: The DNA, Archaeological, Historical, and Linguistic Evidence", "Brownings in England: Where, When, and How They Lived from 700 to 1700 AD", and "Captain John Browning: A Family History in England and Virginia from 1255 to 1799 AD."

Updated July 31, 2018. Jeb was born into poverty and had many obstacles suggesting he would fail in life. His ancestors simply had bad luck however and were not responsible for the environment he was born into. They passed on good genes however. He was born on a farm and loved it but hated the dirt perhaps because of the term "dirt poor." He was born in the middle of the great depression of the 1930s and his formative years were spent with the family subsisting by the work they did. It involved many chores such as milking, gardening, canning, planting, harvesting, taking care of animals, etc. There was a lot of cooperation in the family and they learned to do with little and do what was necessary to survive. Towards the end of the Second World War, the family moved to work in the defense industry. The boy was placed in a totally new environment and had to learn how get along with others. He found that it was a whole different world from that he had lived in. He had a reoccurring cyst on his neck that required many operations that caused him to miss a lot of school. It also left a nasty looking scar on his neck. As a result he began to fail in school as he got older. He felt socially inferior and reacted by dropping out of school and leaving home when he was fifteen. His father passed away and Jeb missed seeing him at the end which caused a lot of inward thinking by the boy. Eventually he got his life turned around, but it was not easy. This book, "Jeb", is the eighth and last volume of a series of stand-alone short stories that helps to explain the evolution of the European Ancestors of many families that migrated to England and then America. There are a total of six short stories that are also consolidated into two books of three volumes each titled "Anatolia to Britain" and "America's Frontier." All of these stories including two additional ones, "Francis" and "William T.", are included in a third set, a tome, titled "Compendium of Stories from Eurasia to Seattle."

Updated April 6, 2016. At the turn of the last century, the majority of the United States' population was living on farms and many of those farm dwellers were self-sufficient producing all the necessities of life. They were operating all kinds of machinery that made their life more tolerable. They were in the process of "doing" and it was respectable. As the economy became more urbanized and people flocked to cities seeking employment more opportunities developed and "consumerism" came into play. It was a process of structural change within the economy which is a socioeconomic process that involves industrial change and society's adaptation to that change. Consumerism requires something new and better all the time. It led one economists, Joseph Schumpeter, in the 1930 to term the phrase "Creative Destruction" meaning that it was not just important for a one competitor in business to drive the other out of the market but to come up with some new product that would destroy the competition. This kind of activity sold stocks but it also created wild swings in the market. It led to the market crash of 1929 and brought on the "Great Depression." During the United States' great depression, many people were in dire straits, they were looking for hope and the movie industry responded by producing films that promoted the "upper class" with top-hats, tails, gowns, night clubs, etc. Sometime between the "doing" on the farm and the "Great Depression" the "doing" part of work lost out. The trades people who were and important part of society lost their esteem. And were considered to be "lower class or working class." To be placed in the "lower class", is a distinction or stigma that needs to be resolved. The lower class has several connotations: they include the "American lower class" who are those at or near the lower end of the socio-economic hierarchy in the United States; the class of wage-earners whose main value is their "labor"; the "underclass", that segment of the population that occupies the lowest possible position in a class hierarchy, below the working class; and of course the "working class" who are those employed in blue collar and manual jobs - the trades people. There, of course, are the middle and upper classes too. A way is needed to improve social structure through education by teaching the importance of "doing".
Ancient European Ancestors: The DNA, Archaeological, Historic, and Linguistic Evidence
This book was converted from a book of color to one of black and white and shade of grey of the same name on April 8, 2016. Many records, both ancient and more recent, have been examined to see where the majority of Europeans, and their descendant originated. There have been many studies suggesting that the origin of Europeans goes back to the Near East and before that to the plains of Eurasia. This study has examined primary sources of information as well as secondary and tertiary sources and compared that information to current DNA analysis of Europeans and their ancestors. Primary sources are documents, correspondence, and diaries; secondary sources are interpretations and written history; and tertiary sources are textbooks and encyclopedias. While this study does not try to prove a theory, it proceeds as though one is offered but it is up to the reader to draw his or her own conclusions. The work contains many maps, pictures and records along with a table of contents, index and references. This work is followed by a fictional account titled "The Nomads: Their Migration Experiences" that is the beginning of a series that helps to explain the evolution of some European Ancestor's families.

Mordred is known as a notorious traitor who fought King Arthur at a Battle described later where he was killed and Arthur was fatally wounded. Tradition varies on his relationship to Arthur, but he is best known as Arthur's illegitimate son resulting from an incestuous relationship with his half-sister Morgan le Fay. King Arthur is a legendary British King who, according to medieval histories and romances, led the defense of Britain against Saxon invaders in the late 5th and early 6th centuries AD. The details of Arthur's story are mainly composed of folklore and literary invention and his historical existence is debated and disputed by modern historians. Le Morte D'Arthur was one of the earliest printed books in England, published by William Caxton in 1485. Most of the later works are derivative of Malory's as is this series of books. According to William Caxton, Sir Thomas Malory's original book titled Le Morte D'Arthur (The Death of Arthur) was finished in the ninth year of Edward IV. It was about King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table. This book is an edition based on Caxton's work which was translated into English from Sir Malory's French in the late 1400s. Claxton's own story of how the book was brought to him and why he printed it may be read in his own preface. From this we learn also that he was not only the printer of the book, but to some extent its editor also, dividing Malory's work into twenty-one books, splitting up the books into chapters. The book has been upgrade with modern words and spelling which make it easier to read. If the reader wants to read all the books in Volume One and/or Volume Two they may be purchased as listed under the title "Times and Death of King Arthur." Book I, Volume One
