Sheriff Jonas Lauer faces his greatest challenge yet. When his mother, Abigail discovers the remains of Olen Peterson, the old man who lived down the road, Jonas immediately becomes suspicious. At first glance, it seems Olen died of natural causes, but upon closer inspection, Jonas suspects foul play. The sheriff discovers Olen was conducting his own investigation into the deaths of the elderly and the quest leads Jonas to a twenty-year-old case of his mentor's former Sheriff Bill Hays. As a deadly patter reveals itself to Jonas, the sheriff must also deal with ghosts from his past that won't rest. But when danger strikes close to home, Jonas must fight for those he loves.
