The Joseph M. Bruccoli Great War Collection at the University of South Carolina was founded in 1997 by Matthew J. and Arlyn Bruccoli and named for Professor Bruccoli's father, who was wounded in France during the conflict. An expansive research archive for the literary, historical, and cultural aspects of World War I from both British and American vantages, the collection is housed in the Thomas Cooper Library at the University of South Carolina campus in Columbia. At present, the Bruccoli Great War Collection contains over four thousand items, including such print materials as military training manuals, illustrated wartime magazines, trench newspapers, British novels and poetry of the war, letters and diaries of participants, scrapbooks and photo albums, posters, slides, and sheet music. Comprehensive in range rather than exhaustive in depth, the collection was expanded in 2002 through the incorporation of some five hundred books and documents formerly part of the Joseph Cohen Collection of World War I Literature, additions that include extremely rare work by Isaac Rosenberg, arguably chief among the Great War poets. A descriptive and illustrated inventory of the collection, The Joseph M. Bruccoli Great War Collection at the University of South Carolina: An Illustrated Catalogue documents one of the great watersheds moments of history on both sides of the Atlantic and serves as a reference and resource for historians, researchers, and collectors alike.

Maurice Merleau-Ponty is the giant phenomenologist of his time in the entire French-speaking world. He is not an epistemologist nor a moralist. For him, the beginning of the beginning is human flesh; the flesh becomes word, the word becomes flesh, and both die. There is science, and there is experience/perception. The mother is the latter. They aren't contradictory, but complete and depend on each other. With regard to language, for him, there are words, and there is grammar. A word is never empty, but carries its own weight; even a lie is full of meaning. Liberty resides in grammar, an individual function and independent from books. It's in the grammar where singularity lives. Thinking and talking are the same. Wherever there is human life, there is meaning, and that is irrespective of age, culture, religion, education or social position. Merleau-Ponty is not a Marxist nor a communist. According to him, history is blind; it has no mind. He also finds a flaw in Freudianism. Flesh is an infinite universe full of stars and black holes. Following Merleau-Ponty, verity is devoiler, and devoiler is verity, but verity is never absolute. One must take a step back. There is light and there is shadow; they never coincide in human life. The shadow is always first, and no matter how one tries to run, he will never catch his shadow.
Receiving a Distinguished Paper Award at the Mustang International Academic Conference held in Las Vega, Nevada in Feb 2014, heightened my desire to author this book. An enjoyable lesson about the process of creating knowledge, competence, and a monetary understanding. Learning how people describe their economic interest, explore attitudes, and explain their money values.A qualitative system of study allowed the most noticeable influences to fully develop and provided an actionable and participatory inquiry with the purpose to solve a social concern. A direct experience design allowed inductive insights to evolve as the contributors describe the 'said' discernment and understanding of financial literacy. The persons in this case study were adults who have religious affiliations with the organizations in the case study and were willing to assist in the research effort. The NVIVO software was instrumental in collecting and analyzing relevant data, to develop actionable decision models. The study examined concerns for faith-based organizations seeking to define the influence of religiosity, behavioral economics, and actionable learning pertaining to financial literacy and decision-making.My twenty-five-years as an Investment Advisor Representative, personally reading the Bible from cover-to-cover eight times and being a student of biblical teachings has served me well.Dr. Blake offers an engaging and comprehensive study of financial decision-making among faithful individuals and organizations. As a long-time experienced Investment Advisor, he asks challenging questions, and offers his unique, experience-based advice to anyone who looks for guidance on how to improve their own financial situation, while being honest to their faith. Dr. Jelena Vucetic - Author, Entrepreneur, ProfessorI commend Dr. Blake for tackling the monumental topic of financial literacy in his book, JOSEPH, Building Financial Literacy. Dr. Blake motivates and encourages one to do some self-examination when it comes to handling finances and then to move from theoretical knowledge to practical know-how and application. His book contains a wealth of information and is long overdue. Keith C. Pinkard, MBA Aerospace Science InstructorDr. Blake really made his vision on Financial Literacy come to life in a manner that is relatable and palatable to everyone. This book empowers you with the knowledge and wisdom to make a positive difference in ones' life, and the ability to make wiser, more informed decisions no matter what your position in life. An inspiring and refreshing view on how financial literacy and spiritual teachings are all encompassing and not mutually exclusive. Canisha Current - Author and Financial Advisor

This book re-examines the Nixon administration’s attitude and approach to the European integration project. The formulation of US policy towards European integration in the Nixon presidential years (1969-1974) was conditioned by the perceived relative decline of the United States, Western European emergence and competition, the feared Communist expansionism, and US national interests. Against that backdrop, the Nixon administration saw the need to re-evaluate its policy on Western Europe and the integration process on this continent. Underpinning this study is the extensive use of newly-released archival materials from the Nixon Presidential Library and Museum, the Library of Congress, and the State Department. Furthermore, the work is based on the public papers in the American Presidency Project and the materials on the topic of European integration and unification in the Archive of European Integration. Finally, the study has extensively used newspaper archives as well as thedeclassified online documents, memoirs and diaries of former US officials. Mining these sources made it possible to shed new light on the complexity and dynamism of the Nixon administration’s policy towards European integration.
