Teos on ilmestynyt ensimmäisen kerran vuonna 2018 nimellä Muistikuvia - Tunnustuksia Kotiteollisuuden sanoitusten takaa.

Suomessa perustetaan noin 40.000 yrityst vuosittain. Jokaisella on edess n sama haaste, kuinka yrityksen nimi valitaan. T m kirja kertoo, miksi nimen huolelliseen valintaan kannattaa panostaa ja mit nimen valinnassa tulee ottaa huomioon. Hyvin valittu nimi kiteytt yrityksen liikeidean, her tt luottamusta asiakkaissa ja innostaa yritt j jatkuvaan kehitt miseen. Riskin on my s joutua korvausvastuuseen toiselle yritt j lle kuuluvien oikeuksien loukkaamisesta. This is the first book on social capital and trust informed by a critical geographical perspective. The authors examine the role of social capital in the constitution and reproduction of urban networks of trust in different places and contexts. They explore how social capital and trust are reflected in the capacity of these networks to achieve their goals and to deliver specific forms of urban development in a number of Finnish and Italian cities. Finland and Italy present, in many ways, two almost paradigmatic cases of how social capital and trust can work in extremely different and yet very effective ways in the production of the urban. They are two almost ideal laboratories for experimenting new definitions and new understandings of the concepts in question.

Representationalists view thought and language as mirrors of a mind-independent world. On this view, knowing is about accurately representing reality, and meaning lies in representational content. This book offers a pragmatist alternative: it argues that our practices are not just relevant but fundamental to both knowing and meaning—and that knowing-how should be seen as the primary form of knowledge. Building on neopragmatist tradition and engaging with classical pragmatism as well as recent work in epistemology, the philosophy of language, and the philosophy of science, the book develops and defends methodologism. This novel framework reorients questions of knowledge and meaning around rule-guided rational practices. The book will appeal to students and scholars in these fields, as well as readers across the humanities and social sciences interested in language, rationality, and their role in communities.

Deploying IPv6 in 3GPP Networks – Evolving Mobile Broadband from 2G to LTE and Beyond A practical guide enabling mobile operators to deploy IPv6 with confidence The most widely used cellular mobile broadband network technology is based on the 3GPP standards. The history and background of the 3GPP technology is in the Global Mobile Service (GSM) technology and the work done in European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI). This primary voice service network has evolved to be the dominant mobile Internet access technology. Deploying IPv6 in 3GPP Networks covers how Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) is currently defined in the industry standards for cellular mobile broadband, why and how this route was taken in the technology, and what is the current reality of the deployment. Furthermore, it offers the authors’ views on how some possible IPv6 related advances 3GPP networks may be improved during the coming years. It gives guidance how to implement and deploy IPv6 correctly in the Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) mobile broadband environment, and what issues one may face when doing so. The book covers 3GPP technologies from 2G to LTE, and offers some ideas for the future. Key features written by highly respected and experienced authors from the IPv6 / mobile worldProvides an explanation of the technical background for some not-so-obvious design choices, what to concentrate on, and what transition strategies should be used by the vendors and the operatorsOffers a useful reference guide for operators and vendors entering into IPv6 business

The essential guide to solving algorithmic and networking problems in commercial computer games, revised and extended Algorithms and Networking for Computer Games, Second Edition is written from the perspective of the computer scientist. Combining algorithmic knowledge and game-related problems, it explores the most common problems encountered in game programing. The first part of the book presents practical algorithms for solving “classical” topics, such as random numbers, procedural generation, tournaments, group formations and game trees. The authors also focus on how to find a path in, create the terrain of, and make decisions in the game world. The second part introduces networking related problems in computer games, focusing on four key questions: how to hide the inherent communication delay, how to best exploit limited network resources, how to cope with cheating and how to measure the on-line game data. Thoroughly revised, updated, and expanded to reflect the many constituent changes occurring in the commercial gaming industry since the original, this Second Edition, like the first, is a timely, comprehensive resource offering deeper algorithmic insight and more extensive coverage of game-specific networking problems than ordinarily encountered in game development books. Algorithms and Networking for Computer Games, Second Edition: Provides algorithmic solutions in pseudo-code format, which emphasises the idea behind the solution, and can easily be written into a programming language of choiceFeatures a section on the Synthetic player, covering decision-making, influence maps, finite-state machines, flocking, fuzzy sets, and probabilistic reasoning and noise generationContains in-depth treatment of network communication, including dead-reckoning, local perception filters, cheating prevention and on-line metricsNow includes 73 ready-to-use algorithms and 247 illustrative exercises Algorithms and Networking for Computer Games, Second Edition is a must-have resource for advanced undergraduate and graduate students taking computer game related courses, postgraduate researchers in game-related topics, and developers interested in deepening their knowledge of the theoretical underpinnings of computer games and in learning new approaches to game design and programming.

Academic Leadership

Academic Leadership

Management and leadership have become increasingly important issues in academic context and in educational organisations. This is reflected in the growing branch of literature dealing with the topic. Many books, papers and studies on academic leadership treat academic institutions as rather homogenous entities. Although it is commonly accepted that there is no one best way to lead -- good leadership depends on context and on culture -- little attention has been paid to academic leadership in the contexts of different disciplinary or departmental cultures. The book focuses on four distinct disciplines (history, sociology, biology and physics). The material is based on 56 in-depth, semi-structured interviews with scholars in eight departments representing these disciplines. Leadership histories and cultures of the academic departments form the basis of the case studies analysed in this study. The case studies demonstrate how diverse value-orientations and perspectives inherent in the cultures of the disciplines and specialisms, and local cultural processes in the departments, together direct and affect academic leadership. Academic leaders may affect these processes, but a strong local culture may considerably frame the expectations connected to leadership. The book highlights how leadership practices and preferences concerning leadership can vary considerably in different disciplinary, departmental and historical contexts. Leaders and managers in universities and other educational organisations will benefit from the resulting insight and understanding of cultural and social dynamics in the units and departments they are leading.

From Nucleons to Nucleus deals with single-particle and collective features of spherical nuclei. Each nuclear model is introduced and derived in detail. The formalism is then applied to light and medium-heavy nuclei in worked-out examples, and finally the acquired skills are strengthened by a wide selection of exercises, many relating the models to experimental data. For consistency, the surface delta interaction is used in all applications requiring configuration mixing. Nuclear properties are discussed using particles, holes and quasiparticles. A large number of matrix elements of standard operators have been tabulated for reference. From Nucleons to Nucleus is based on lectures on nuclear physics given by the author. It's main scope is thus to serve as a textbook for advanced students. But also researchers will appreciate it as well-balanced reference to theoretical nuclear physics.
The Continuation War 1941-1944 as a Metanoic Moment
The study explores an aspect of Finland in World War II that has received little attention. The research examines how Lutheran priests contributed rhetorically to the war effort against the Soviet Union in the Continuation War 1941-1944. The war was emplotted using six dramatic analogies: apocalypse, holy war & crusade, election & mission, jeremiad, the war within, obedience and mortification. Changes from an offensive phase in 1941 to an almost chaotic retreat in summer 1944 could be explained using rhetoric that was familiar to all Finns. The material consists of texts by bishops, chaplains and other priests. Priestly power is examined using the concept of metanoia, a radical transformation of mind. The textual analysis relies on Kenneth Burke’s theory of symbolic action.

Revision with unchanged content. Thomas Kuhn with his classic The Structure of Scientific Revolutions is one of the most influential and widely read philosophers of the 20th century. Kuhn's idea that meanings of scientific terms change is often taken to be refuted by recent advances in the philosophy of language. Meaning Changes challenges this interpretation showing that meaning change in Kuhn has multiple aspects: philosophical, cognitive and historical. The book demonstrates that the origin of Kuhn's view lies in his studies of history and argues that his case against Hilary Putnam's causal theory of reference constitutes serious criticism of the account. The author also explains how Kuhn's philosophy is supported by cognitive science and why meaning change is relevant to the history of ideas. The book concludes by analysing Kuhn's 'historical perspective' in the coherentist epistemological framework, which regards the question of scientific progress ultimately as an empirical one. This book will be of particular interest to students and scholars of the history and philosophy of science. It also is valuable reading to anybody interested in philosophy or scientific change.
