During a period of tumultuous change in the 1950's there still existed an underlying attitude of sultry romance and betrayal in the deep south. Meet James and Judy. He is a small town preacher of strong character stemming to bridge the gap between the way things were and how they may ultimately evolve, using morals and spiritual principles as a guide. Her, a woman who craved the change and felt the fires of inner passions fanned as she experienced the changes. How could their love survive as he struggled to adapt to change and she embraced the new freedom in a way he could never accept. Having grown up in the south during a period in which many only dreamed of the ways things could be while others struggled to keep things the way they were, DJ Hart shares her first published story. A mother of three who experienced these changes first hand.
Judy and Me: Growing up in North Sydney, Cape Breton Island, God's Country, Nova Scotia in the 1950s. What a Memory!!
Judy and Me is the posthumous publication of Alice Jean (Hodder Hoyt) Garland's memoir printed in 2004 and reprinted in 2007. Alice, known as Allie Jean and the Anglican Minister's daughter, recounts the adventures she enjoyed with her best friend, Judy, during the fabulous 50's in North Sydney, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. The author's vignettes transport the reader to a simpler time when teens listened in on party lines, jived to the jukebox at the soda shop, watched Elvis movies at the drive-in theatre, and when the church was the hub of the community. This first published edition includes photographs and other mementos of Alice's life. The foreword is written by her eldest daughter, Allison Hoyt Hannah. It was published as an elegy to Alice on the 10th anniversary of her passing. Judy and Me is a gift to anyone who reads it. Alice was a gift to everyone who knew her.
Jean Lemaire De Belges's Les Illustrations De Gaule Et Singularitez De Troye
This study compares Lemaire's treatment of the Trojan legend in his three-volume "Les Illustrations de Gaule et singularitez de Troye" (1511-1513) to this sources as well as to medieval French and Latin versions of the legend that he wished to correct. It also examines Lemaire's moral and political objectives in writing the work, as well as his view of history. It demonstrates that Lemaire reinterprets the past by offering complementary yet widely divergent moral lessons to his female and male readers while he attempts to influence the future by promoting European unity and a crusade against the Turks.
Jean Baptiste Legrand: His French Origins, Louisiana Descendants, and Relatives Around the World
Judy Riffel is a native and life-long resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She and her mother, Ann, became interested in genealogy during the United States Bicentennial. In tracing their roots, they discovered that all but one of their ancestors came to Louisiana prior to 1800. The latecomer was Judy's maternal grandmother's grandfather, a Frenchman named Jean Baptiste Legrand. Arriving in New Orleans in 1848, he settled on the banks of the Atchafalaya River among the Cajuns of South Louisiana. This is the story of his family, his life, and his descendants. Now a professional genealogist, Judy has authored and edited numerous books and articles on genealogy. Her research, which has spanned five decades, has culminated in this, her first family history book.

Exploring the ways in which today's Internet-savvy young people view and use information to complete school assignments and make sense of everyday life, this new edition provides a review of the literature since 2010.The development of information literacy skills instruction can be traced from its basis in traditional reference services to its current growth as an instructional imperative for school librarians. Reviewing the scholarly research that supports best practices in the 21st-century school library, this book contains insights into improving instruction across content areas—drawn from the scholarly literatures of library and information studies, education, communication, psychology, and sociology—that will be useful to school, academic, and public librarians and LIS students. In this updated fourth edition, special attention is given to recent studies of information seeking in changing instructional environments made possible by the Internet and new technologies. This new edition also includes new chapters on everyday information seeking and motivation and a much-expanded chapter on Web 2.0. The new AASL standards are included and explored in the discussion. This book will appeal to LIS professors and students in school librarianship programs as well as to practicing school librarians.
