Inwieweit ist das strafrechtliche Handeln junger Menschen aus einer Gruppe heraus strafscharfend oder strafmildernd zu berucksichtigen? Die Autorin setzt sich mit dem status quo in Rechtsprechung und Literatur hinsichtlich der Berucksichtigung des Gruppenbezuges auseinander. Letzteres ist im Ruckgriff bzw. unter Berucksichtigung von Forschungsbefunden aus verschiedenen wissenschaftlichen Disziplinen zu der Bedeutung von Peergroup-Sozialisation, in Verbindung mit Aspekten aus Kriminalitatstheorien, sowie dem Erziehungsgedanken und einer kritischen Auseinandersetzung mit dem Jugendstrafrecht als Taterstrafrecht erfolgt. Schliesslich wurde die Frage nach der Notwendigkeit einer jugendspezifischen Auslegung materieller und prozessualer Regelungen unter dem Aspekt des Gruppenbezuges aufgegriffen. Im Rahmen der Untersuchung entstand unter anderem ein Mehrfaktorenmodell fur die Erklarung gruppendelinquenten Verhaltens.

In alltäglichen (Spiel-)Situationen zuhause und in der Kita entwickeln Kinder mathematische Kompetenzen, die eng mit dem Zahlbegriffserwerb verbunden sind. Eltern spielen eine wichtige Rolle beim Kompetenzerwerb junger Kinder, auch bezogen auf ihr mathematisches Lernen. Seit PISA wird die Bedeutung früher Bildungsangebote betont; gleichsam sind bis heute insbesondere Kinder in Hinblick auf geringen Bildungserfolg gefährdet, die aus Familien mit geringer formaler Bildung und/oder Migrationserfahrungen kommen. Julia Streit-Lehmann erforscht, welche Effekte zu erwarten sind, wenn Eltern von Seiten der Kita mit konkreten Materialangeboten zum gemeinsamen Spielen und (Vor-)Lesen in der Familie aufgefordert und ermutigt werden. Die Ergebnisse weisen ein großes Potenzial aus: Alle betrachteten Teilstichproben konnten erheblich von der Intervention profitieren. Im Follow-up ein Jahr nach der Einschulung wurden allerdings Befunde repliziert, die für ein grundlegendes Problem des deutschen Bildungssystems stehen: Nachhaltig sind die Fördererfolge nur für diejenigen Kinder, die ohnehin bereits privilegiert aufwachsen. Die Autorin diskutiert, auf welche Weise diese Form von Bildungsungerechtigkeit für Kinder in benachteiligenden Lebenslagen abgeschwächt werden kann.

Asylum law in the European Union is ripe with caveats that allow authorities to reject asylum applications due to 'protection' received in the home country or another location. But what does 'protection' mean in this context? And when is it strong enough to make denying an application lawful? Departing from the notion that refugee status is a "surrogate" for lacking protection at home, Julian M. Lehmann investigates the interplay of international law and European Union law on protection against harm by non-state actors, the Internal Protection Alternative concept, and asylum in third countries en route to the European Union. Lehmann demonstrates how conflating these concepts risks equating international protection with mere safety, which stands in contrast to the very purpose of refugee law.

A stream of research has begun to examine other forms of entrepreneurship, one of them being niche entrepreneurship with hidden champions being a prime example of these. Many economies are powered by rather small and medium sizes companies and some of these companies have become world-market leaders in highly specific niche markets and had been termed “hidden champions”. Hidden champions are small to midsized companies that are often technology leaders within their niche market yet they are not commonly known to the public given their specialized markets. They are often located in rural areas and serve B2B markets so that they are only known by customers and the local community. The Evolution of Hidden Champions as Niche Entrepreneurs portrays hidden champions as an important vehicle in shaping a country’s technological and economic competitiveness, revealing their key business strategies and investigating their evolution over space (geographical distribution) and time (technological change). Finally, the authors illustrate the subsequent growth in academic research which show that economies differ in providing hidden champions with an institutional environment that complementarily fits their individual strategic choices. The second part of this work analyses the evolution of hidden champions over time.The monograph starts by introducing a fundamental concept of hidden champions. Section 2 defines the concept and distinguishes it from similar concepts. Section 3 presents the key characteristics of hidden champions and provides empirical evidence from research on hidden champions. Section 4 presents the evolution of hidden champions, both geographically and historically. Section 5 outlines the development of the hidden champions’ research field and its main milestones. Section 6 then presents the key contemporary discussions around hidden champions. Section 7 concludes and provides an outlook into future research.
