In the distant future, on a planet called Hydromeda, two societies have evolved from the survivors of a crashed spaceship: the Platonists, who've built a rigid, technological society based on a tattered manuscript of Plato's Republic, and the Humanists, who've created a free-spirited democracy guided by fragments of an Earthly encyclopedia. These civilizations exist in stark contrast - one valuing order and efficiency above all, the other celebrating freedom and human expression. When Erxander, son of the Platonist King, refuses to fight in a war against the Humanists, his act of defiance leads him to Adelaide, the Humanist president's daughter. Together, they uncover a truth that could unite their peoples-but before they can act, tragedy strikes.Years later, as leader of a unified Hydromeda City, Erxander faces humanity's greatest threat yet: the arrival of the Enhanced Humans, cybernetically augmented beings from Earth who seek to enslave the planet's population. With his trusted advisors and a young prot g named Florence, Erxander must confront not only these powerful invaders, but also timeless questions about power, justice, and what it truly means to be human. This philosophical science fiction epic explores themes of leadership, morality, and the price of progress, asking whether peace is possible in a universe where power corrupts and perfection comes at the cost of our humanity.
K.M. Panikkar and The Growth of a Maritime Consciousness in India
Sardar KM Panikkar's life and works form a fascinating narrative encompassing a wide diversity of roles, positions and interests. Panikkar was one of the early writers on the history of India's connections with the Indian Ocean. His seminal historical and literary works have influenced contemporary thoughts and perceptions and played a formative role in orienting independent India's maritime consciousness. Panikkar's emphasis on the need for a well-considered and effective naval policy as critical to India's security needs internalization amongst Indian political elite, policy makers, and academia, as there is a growing realisation of the significance of the Indian Ocean in India's strategic calculus. This volume offers deep insights into Panikkar's understanding and vision of the world and India and seas and oceans, with rich debates on geopolitics of those times, primacy of maritime issues, relevance of these on contemporary geopolitics, strategic dynamics and economic of trade and interdependence.

Kathleen Kenyon died in 1978 without having published final reports on her excavations in Jerusalem. These are being now published in five volumes. This volume concentrates on finds outside the walls of the Iron Age city, and particularly on the enigmatic, pottery-rich depositis in Caves I and II to the south east of the city. Eshel's analysis of the pottery leads him to suggest a 7th-century BC date. Although fragmentary figurines and other `cult' objects were found, the general character of the pottery is utilitarian and Eshel suggests that the caves probably were either merchant or adminisatration store-rooms.

In The Shadow of the Devil: William K.M. Breckenridge in Fielding Hurst's First West Tennessee U.S. Cavalry
For more than 150 years, the story of the First West Tennessee Cavalry U.S.A. (renamed the Sixth Tennessee Cavalry) has been told from the perspectives of Col. Fielding Hurst, his critics, and his defenders. Now the story of this misunderstood irregular Union cavalry regiment is portrayed through the eyes and emotions of his second-in-command, Lt. Col. William K.M. Breckenridge. Long silenced by death and the mist of history, Breckenridge's journal retells the regiment's story. His contemporary voice and facts drawn from period documents provide a far clearer portrait than previously available.Through careful and detailed research, In The Shadow of the Devil debunks many legends and folklore regarding both Fielding Hurst and the First West Tennessee Cavalry. Further, the reputations of the soldiers themselves are somewhat restored as the specific war crimes of a few are detailed. A life too long hidden by death and the fog of history emerges with a strong and compelling voice. Now allowed to speak, that voice tells a story both convincing and historically significant.
