It is now clear that atmospheric aerosols contribute substantially to global climate change and the importance of these processes must now be assessed. This book provides a comprehensive overview of present-day knowledge concerning atmospheric aerosols, how to characterise accurately the principal types present, their properties and their climatic impact. It also discusses the interaction of stratospheric aerosols produced in volcanic eruptions and the problem of estimating the climatic impact of such eruptions. Of especial interest is a discussion of the ongoing debate concerning the effects of clouds on atmospheric absorption of solar radiation, and the influence of this process on climate change. Whilst concluding that at present it is still not possible to simulate global change reliably, this book provides a stepping stone to understanding the complex processes involved and the uncertainties arising from the effects of aerosols and clouds upon climate.

The book titled ""The Thermal State of Upper Atmospheric Layers: Technical Translation F-103"" by K. Ya. Kondrat'yev is a comprehensive study of the thermal conditions of the upper atmospheric layers. The book is a technical translation of the original Russian text and provides a detailed analysis of the temperature and heat transfer processes in the upper atmosphere. The author begins by discussing the composition and structure of the upper atmosphere and the various factors that influence its thermal state. The book then delves into the various methods used to measure the temperature of the upper atmosphere, including satellite-based remote sensing techniques and ground-based observations. The author also discusses the role of radiation in the thermal state of the upper atmosphere, including the absorption and emission of radiation by various atmospheric components. The book also covers the thermal properties of the ionosphere and the various processes that contribute to its heating and cooling.Overall, ""The Thermal State of Upper Atmospheric Layers: Technical Translation F-103"" is an essential reference for researchers and scientists working in the field of atmospheric science and remote sensing. The book provides a comprehensive overview of the thermal conditions of the upper atmosphere and the various factors that influence them.Translation Of Teplyy Rezhim Verkhnikh Sloyev Atmosfery, Gidrometeorologicheskoye Izdatel'stvo. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Considering that during the publication process the author made some changes and clarifications to the text, the editors also used a number of other editions of Tchaikovsky's works, including the editions of Jurgenson revised by the author. All the author's instructions regarding tempo, dynamics, phrasing, as well as fingering and pedaling, in a word, everything taken from the original text is printed in large print; all additions, both made in the new edition of Jürgenson and apparently authorized, and belonging to editors, are indicated in small print.(From the preface to the first edition)
