Se arvioi kuinka turvallisuus- ja toimintaympäristömme kielteiset muutokset näkyvät etenkin turvallisuushallinnossa ja sen johtamisessa.Esille nostetaan sisäisen turvallisuuden kysymyksiä, kyber- ja hybridivaikuttamisen haasteita sekä mietitään puolustusratkaisumme ytimeen kuuluvan yleisen asevelvollisuuden ja mahdollisen NATO-jäsenyyden tarkoituksenmukaisuutta.Kansallisen turvallisuuden tuottaminen ja ylläpito edellyttävät osaamista, resursseja sekä pitkäjänteisyyttä. Sitä koskevia kysymyksiä ei tule ratkoa sosiaalisessa mediassa tai iltapäivälehtien lööpeissä. Kirja haastaa olemassa olevia totuuksia ja esittää mahdollisia vaihtoehtoja ja ratkaisuja kysymyksiin, joihin hyvin harvoin on yhtä ainoaa oikeaa vastausta.Kirja kutsuu kaikkia maamme turvallisuudesta kiinnostuneita pohtimaan kansallisen turvallisuuden kysymyksiä. Tavoitteena on, että päätyisimme tekemään parhaita mahdollisia päätöksiä kansallisen turvallisuutemme hyväksi.YE-everstiluutnantti Aki-Mauri Huhtinen on toiminut Maanpuolustuskorkeakoulun johtamisen ja sotilaspedagogiikan laitoksen sotilasprofessorina. Nykyään hän työskentelee Suomen edustajana Naton strategisen kommunikaation osaamiskeskuksessa Latviassa.Tampereen yliopiston dosentti Kari Laitinen toimii erikoistutkijana Poliisiammattikorkeakoulussa. Työurallaan hänen tehtäviinsä ovat kuuluneet laaja-alaiseen sekä kansalliseen turvallisuuteen, strategiatyöhön ja ennakointiin liittyvät kysymykset sekä erilaisten tutkimus- ja kehittämishankkeiden johtaminen.
