Die Staufer waren eine Herrscherdynastie, die innerhalb eines relativ kurzen Zeitraums in der Gesellschaft des Mittelalters aufstieg und bis zur K nigs- und Kaiserw rde gelangte. Dennoch pr gten zahlreiche Konflikte den Aufstieg der Staufer, deren Weg zu K nigs- und Kaiserw rden von Herausforderungen durchdrungen war und nicht immer linear verlief. Insbesondere der Zeitraum unter der Herrschaft Heinrichs V. war f r den Aufstieg der Staufer von gro er Bedeutung und die Betrachtung dieser Thematik ist insofern relevant, dass die Forschung die Besch ftigung mit der Zeit Heinrichs V. lange vernachl ssigt hat. Die Beziehung zwischen Heinrich V. und den Staufern war einerseits durch Verwandtschaft und Loyalit t gepr gt, die wachsende Eigenst ndigkeit der F rsten und die Integration vor allem Herzog Friedrichs II. von Schwaben in die Interessensph re der Gro en stand mit zunehmend ausgepr gtem Autonomiestreben jedoch andererseits auch in Widerspruch zum Willen Heinrichs V. und schuf ein ambivalentes Verh ltnis. Die K nigsn he er ffnete den Staufern weitreichende Aufstiegsm glichkeiten, deren Erfolg jedoch immer wieder in Gefahr geriet.
